Khalil Mack

After his pro day, I have a sneaking suspicion that he is going to mess up everyone's top 5 picks.

Guy is a freak, great pass rusher, tough, etc.

In my opinion, he will sneak into the top 5 and a team formerly thought to take a QB, will nab this guy.  Not totally out of the realm of possibility that he goes first, but I think the real watch starts at 2.

I thought he was going top5 all along.

The guy that people are ignoring who could mess the whole draft up is "Derek Carr"! More and more teams are coming out saying they preferred Carr over Manziel. Smokescreen, maybe/maybe not. Still, Carr had a solid senior bowl performance that helped solidify him as a top QB in this year draft. People want to mock Bortles to Houston, but I believe that Carr makes better sense with O'Brien.

People are too afraid to imagine another Carr QB in Houston, but he's a better QB than his brother. If Carr goes no.1 in May it's going to be an interesting draft.

We most likely will have to face one of Mack/Barr next year vs ATL/TB. Won't be fun. I honestly don't know too much about Mack except that he is supposed to be a freak athlete.  My impression is that he is a more refined/less raw player than Barr.  I'd find it hard to believe he's a better pass rusher than Barr though.  Barr had .5 less sacks being double teamed constantly against legitimate opponents.  You can't go wrong with either though. I've seen Barr fall to as low a 20 because of Mack which seems absurd they are both going to be studs.

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
