We're not set at TE or FB?

And did free agency end today, because I thought we still had a few more months?

Also, we're not allowed to pursue other team's cuts anymore?

i included fb with rb, te is olsen, williams is a ?

and doesn't look like were going to grab any FA unless they real are "free"

if other's team cuts are what were looking forward to in march it's going to be a long long long offseason

So if we divide the team into eleven position groups (QB RB FB WR TE OL DL LB S CB ST) and by your count we are set at six of them (seven by my count) leaving us in need at WR, OL, and both DB slots (all positions which we knew had needs going into the offseason), how exactly do we stand as 'gutted'?

And remind me, how many big name / big money free agents did we sign last year before going 12-4?

IMO saying "we needed help at OL, WR, and CB anyway" doesn't really portray this predicament. Before we could've really used a player or two at each position as it was, but now in addition we've lost another ten or so bodies just at those positions.

your straying away, this has nothing to do with big name FA or big money get that out your head and were good, we stand gutted because we didn't bother to resign any of the guys who could have and had previously helped this team, it's like were rebuilding but wtf for we just went 12-4 and some of the key guys who got us there were released or DG let them walk, cap issue i understand but we had numerous threads saying resigning hardy would hamper other positions of need and i'll be damned if that isn't what exactly happened

bottom line going into the offseason even the most basic analyst could see we had a few pieces missing , but now that's long gone.............this clearly is some kind of rebuilding step or something because with our division making the moves they have, waiting on other teams cuts is not going to get the job done.

'Gutted' is an overstatement, especially after three days of free agency.

If we still have this roster in September, talk to me then.  But you'll pardon me if I find the notion that nothing significant will be accomplished in the next six months to be a tad shortsighted.

i'll admit gutted was a bit much but i do not like this "rebuild" direction we've taken, time will tell

We'll have to disagree here.

But hey, at least you're not suggesting Gettleman is trying to deliberately sabotage Newton

I wouldn't say Captain is the best nickle in the league, I'm reserving that for Brandon Boykin, but Captain will be missed. Very versitale player that plays bigger than his size. Good for him getting paid, but the FO really screwed the pooch on this one.

    • It's funny how the teams with the great QBs stay at or near the top of the league every season.  Yes it is a team game, but the QB has the biggest impact in most NFL football games.
    • Look, no one is ever a perfect player.  Since the QB handles the ball on 100% of plays offensively (unless there's a direct snap to a RB or something), I can absolutely see where they get an outsized blame and gain from what happens at any given snap of a football game.   Theoretically, there shouldn't even be a stat or idea to a 4th quarter comeback or game winning drive because you should already have done that during the game.  Losers!  Right?  Just because you win late doesn't take away the fact you tried to lose the game for your team! I'm not a fan of that opinion, but again, I'm just a moron with a keyboard.   Bryce has limited tools.  Bryce has not inspired the same level of confidence in us as Cam Newton did in year 3.  I certainly get that.  We traded a TON of assets to get Bryce, and we still suck.  (I mean, since we've lost games, we're losers right?) I completely understand that some fans are just unhappy with a limited QB and a team that isn't performing well, unless the other teams are worse losers than we are. I will say this:  Bryce will fight until the end.  Sure, he's has some real loser football.   But in close games, he's doing his best to comeback (even against a winner of prevent D). Now is it better or worse if your QB plays their best ball in the first half and sucks 2nd half so long as they finish with 300 yards, 3 TDs for your fantasy points? Who said stats are for winners anyway?  The Panthers and Bryce has a long way to go.  I'm enjoying the winning right now.  Though I do start each game thinking "how will we fug this up today?" Because it's been such a poo show in the Tepper era.  Will he prove to be a legit starting NFL QB?  Maybe not here as evidence by our record with QBs who were high draft picks.
    • Ive never liked the term game winning drives because they include games where the QB was part of or was the reason the team was behind in the first place. Ive been arguing against this stat since the Delhomme years. It should only count when the QB is out of the equation of reasons why the team fell behind in the first place and is at least half the reason why he led the last drive to give them a lead. It shouldnt count if they just hand it off most of the time and the RB is on fire and they go down and score a TD or FG.
