Anyone have information about Justin Blackmon?

Send a damn 4th. Doesnt hurt a bit.

Rivera will clean his act up.

We have no money. We have to pray to the football gods we get lucky and find some guys in the draft.

Draft picks matter when you have no cap room to sign players.

Maybe if we had tons do picks and few holes you could roll the dice

But, Blackmon still has two years left on his rookie deal. We're not breaking the bank by trading for him.

Steve Largent, Charles Haley, Jared Allen and Darren Sproles were all 4th round picks.

No way in hell I give up a pick for a guy that's one misstep away from a year's vacation and who's already shown he's not especially bright.

The Good

He has legit top 10 WR talent.  I could never find anything about what he was busted for last time but I heard it was Adderall.  From what I hear he is in phenomenal shape just as he was after the first suspension.

The Bad

Will likely miss 8 games.  Hard to count such as you will not go into to the season looking at him as your number target and designing an offense for him.

I wouldnt say its a definite no like the rest you.  It's a cautious yes for me to gamble on a player with top 10 talent for the price of basically a fifth.

Thats not fair every round has players who had great ceilings.  A more apt  example of what would come out of the 4th would be

5%  Great player

20%- Decent Starter

50%- Backup/Roleplayer

25%- Out of league in 3 years.

I pulled those numbers out of my ass.  But I think they are reasonable.

Doesn't really matter.

I wouldn't part with a 7th for a guy who's already proven he's a mental midget.

Two DUIs, an indefinite suspension from the League, next suspension means he's gone a year or more at the least...

I wouldn't give up a used jockstrap for that.

You wouldnt be giving up a 4th for him to engineer a new energy source, you would be giving up a 4th for him to put up receiving production like he did last year when he put up 414 yards over 4 games or the 638 yard he put up over the last 7 of 2012. I think I would be able to spare a backup/roleplayer to take a chance on that.

While he's still suspended?

He isn't even reinstated yet.  It's not guaranteed that he will be.  How dumb would ya look trading for a guy who can't even practice?

And no.  I doubt any other smart team in the league will either.  Which means the Jags will end up releasing him.

When he costs nothing, then maybe we can talk, but even then I'd still be leary...

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
