SOJA - 4 Round Mock

SOJA

Recommended Posts

no trades just first 4 rounds

1- Brandin Cooks WR- Oregon St.

-small, speedy explosive guy. This is the pick I'm most unsure about. I feel at this point all the premier tackles will be off the board and hell this guy might be too. TBH it's a goddamn mock and WR looks painfully thin right now.

2-Morgan Moses OT Virginia

Would you take a look at the motherfuger, talk about hog molly! Might not start from day one, but could be great. His nfl comparison is Cordy Glenn who we should have drafted a few years ago. And while I've got your attention. I don't want Cyrus at all.

3- James Hurst- OT UNC-Chapel HIll

At one point considered a fringe first rounder and a former five star recruit. Nasty leg injury in UNC's bowl game will cause him to slip a bit. More of a sure bet than Moses but definitely not as high of a ceiling.

4- Brandon Coleman- WR Rutgers

Honestly probably won't be here by this pick. Huge, huge upside but also a risk. I read somewhere that if he had stayed in school another year he would have been a sure fire first rounder.

Is this going to happen? No, but it made me feel better. Also fug rounds five to seven. We have no idea who is going to be there nor do we have any clue if those guys will be good. I will say this though. NO CORNERS EARLY. Look at the best corners in this league and where they were drafted. Rarely were they early picks.

I'm not sure what to make of mocks until we start making moves in FA next week and what other teams look like.

Like the players though, but I don't really agree with the no CBs early. I won't mind a S or TE either, as long as it's BPA.

BTW the % chance of Moses available at the back end of the 2nd is in the lower single digits IMO.

agree, but then again I would have said the same about Star last year

Can we go:

(1) Brandin Cooks, WR

(2) Davante Adams, WR

(3) Jarvis Landry, WR

(4) James Hurst, OT

(5) Michael Schofield, OT

(6) Seantrel Henderson, OT

(7) WR

I don't know how likely it will be for Cooks to be there at 28 or Adams to be there at 56, but damn, if that happened... That would make our offense intense.

By not addressing the WR position, Gettleman has to know something we dont know about this class of WRs. I mean I kinda already know that they were good, but I guess Gman knows theyre going to be GREAT.

K I'm not going to make a new thread for this theory but I've starting to think Ebron is going to be our first pick if he is there.

Reasons:

If Star wasn't there last year, word is Eifert was going to be our pick. Ebron is a better prospect than Eifert.

Not only does Gettleman like building from the inside out, but he has been around the league for long enough to notice trends. Right now having an athletic, pass-catching tight end that stretch the field is killing teams (Graham, Davis, Gronk). Ebron fits that.

Cam played GREAT in a two tight end set his rookie year.

Ebron is basically a WR which is a huge need if you have been living under a rock.

Top tier OT's will probably be gone by our pick.

Not saying this is a certainty for sure as Ebron will likely be gone, but if he is there he's the pick.

    • So happy that LaMelo got the layup to go and *won* the game. How happy he was after the game, that's what a young dude like him needs to keep it going and keep the belief going. If we lose, LaMelo gets blamed, and he's got an offseason to be in his head and hear the noise like the last few years. The season might still have an ugly ending, but weirdly feels like last night was HUGE for this team moving forward.
    • My thoughts on Carolina's post-season run: Obviously, the season began with a below average Freddie Andersen and everyone hoping Kochetkov would pick up the slack, until he got hurt. Enter Brandon Bussi who had a made-for-TV movie type run until the end of the season, when he came crashing back to earth, his save % drops under .900 and the team needs to score 5-6 goals to win games. Freddie has shown signs of a resurgence and Bussi looked pretty good the last 2 games of the season, but both sample sizes are small and questions abound for all 3 goalies. The physicality of playoff hockey will take its toll. Save for a few players, the Canes best players are small, their top 2 lines are small and there's no getting around that. The only way to protect the size disadvantage is a strong forecheck. Allowing opposing teams to establish the offensive zone and create board battles with smaller players will hurt Carolina. The Stankoven line could be a difference-maker. If they continue to play well against lower defensive pairs, it only adds to the depth of the team.  The Aho line had stretches of absenteeism during the season. The Canes cannot afford to have them dry up offensively and leave the scoring to Ehlers and the Stankoven line. If they aren't performing well, teams will simply roll their best lines out on the Canes best playing lines.  If the Canes can get by Ottawa and get some help from Boston against Buffalo, I think they have a legit shot to make the finals. Make no mistake, I think their toughest challenges are Ottawa and Buffalo in the East.
