Harper is a Solid Signing

I don't know maybe cuz ranked 87th out of 88 in 2012 by PFF... Last year was better but damn the saints gave 2 fugs about him...they drafted vaccaro last year and broke the bank for Byrd this year.

If it was vet minimum that'd be one thing or maybe if we had a LT or a receive me on the team that wouldn't hurt either

Just looking at the commentary from the Saints forums, a few blogs, and PFF it looks like a poo signing.

Feel free to look at Mitchell's PFF ranking in 2013.

He doesn't have to be outstanding but he's a veteran who can lead our otherwise young DBs and keep the back end of our D from being awful next year.

A leader you say? Why would we bring in a low character leader like Harper?

Saints fans saying it's a bad signing is not a surprise. He was horrible in 2012 but remember the Saints had basically no coaching at all that year. He was better last year with Payton back. I think he will look good behind our front seven.

    • One thing I didn’t consider is how thin this draft is at quarterback. That’s going to drive up the market for backups and borderline starters like Willis, Jones, and Jameis Winston. Because of that, we’ll most likely be priced out of the market for this tier of backup.
    • We've already beat the #1 seed twice, why not one more? (Packers and Rams were both #1 seed at the time we played)
    • My determination has come down to this. Based on recent QB history, has Bryce's improvement warranted 50m per season? Lamar is the only original team QB to play on his 5th year. The others took major deals at the end of the 3rd, before or just after the option was signed. Chances are, we're getting asked for the same.  I haven't rooted for Bryce to fail. I've rooted for him to succeed so big that them signing that extension would give me no worries about our future at QB at all. We haven't seen that level of play consistently that this year. We haven't seen it in the past 6 games.  We're about to be at a threshold with Bryce and I worry about what this front office will do. We have a history of bad decision making and Morgan has been part of that group making those decisions. I don't want Carolina in the same boat Arizona and Miami are right now. It has nothing to with being right. It has to do with wanting to win for more than a single season. We've never had back to back winning seasons. Faith in their abilities is not warranted at this point.
