Billy Turner at 28? --edit (at 60?)

I'm asking this not so much because he likely won't be there come round 2 IMO but rather if we think he's a future LT, does that make him 28th pick worthy?

I have only read great reviews about the kid and he can possibly play at a foundational position for an offense in the NFL.

Whatsayyou?

edit: probably too much of a curve to be 28 worthy.  60, yes

Thinking he might be there at the end of the second, maybe not, but this is out on Cyrus now, so he might be there at the end of the second.

Cyrus will be a good RT, Turner a possible LT

(9:00 AM): No follow-up medical for Tide OT ... Jason LaCanfora of CBS sports is reporting that Alabama OT Cyrus Kouandijo will not require a post-combine medical recheck in Indianapolis. There have been reports that Kouandjio had been failed on some team's medical exams at the combine because of a potentially chronic knee issue stemming from an injury early in his Alabama career. However, according to LaCanfora did not fail physicals and in fact his knee is clean and will not require further testing. Kouandjio is still to be considered to be a potential first-round pick this year although he is more of a late-rounder coming off avery disappointing combine in which he barely broke 5.6 runnin the 40.

It all comes down to how GMs view Turner as a LT. Do they feel he will be a good LT in the NFL. If the answer is yes, than he is most certainly 28 worthy.

I like Turner a lot and would have no problem with him at 28. In fact I kinda want us to draft him at 28 because I am scared he will be scooped up by the end of the 2nd.

Star Redux. It would be amazing if this happened for us again.

Thinking that these grades were from late February and he is just starting to update the end of March grades (did DLine a day or so ago), but he has Bitonio and Turner projected as a Guard at the next level.

Nowhere close to a 1st rounder either.  Don't kill the messenger.

Dude is projecting Turner (who has question marks on his run blocking and lower body) as a guard.

That is all I need to know lol.

Turner screams LT about as loud and clear as one can.

Turner should easily be there in the 2nd. Could possibly be there in the 3rd.

Not sure about that.

If any GM views him as a quality starting / immediate impact LT he will be be gone by the end of the 2nd.

After people put him under a microscope and see his size, quickness, and tape I frankly would be surprised if no GM felt the above.

I love Turner but I dunno about 1st round. Seems like getting a pass catcher would be worth risking losing Turner in the mid 2nd. If Turner is taken before us, there's still a few OTs that are worth a 2nd that should be there (Moses, Cyrus, maybe Bitonio or Mewhort, Juwan James, Richardson)

Turner is bigger than Armstead. I see Turner going in the 2 round.

With his size and quickness some team is gonna bite.

Yep, 2nd round sounds right. There's a lot of OT prospects in the draft, but a lot of them are better suited on the right side. Guys like him and Bitonio may be in demand sooner rather than later.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
