and I remember a number of things that the national media has gotten that the locals haven't.  I feel like there's a lot they leave out, if nothing else.  For instance, when Steve Wilks was hired, the locals said "oh they tried to get him last year and couldn't."  Oh? The hell did it take you a year to tell us that for?

there are plenty of examples - the players-only meeting before the Giants game I don't remember hearing about for a month or so is a recent example.

just give us the information.

I'm not going to get on Jones like I might Person, he seems to have sense.  But I don't know if he has much say.

Going by the Gross retirement press conference alone-specifically that one comment he made to Person--I get the idea that Person is an abrasive dick who pesters people so much they do not give his squat. I wonder how much he has hurt Jones in that regard.  Person asks the dumbest questions.  There are times when they stop the press conference and think:

Here's the thing though.

People whose assigned (paying) job is not to cover only the Panthers are getting news items that the people whose job it is to cover only the Panthers are not getting.

If they can get this info, why can't our guys?

I'm not arguing their incompetence, I'm just saying I think it's pretty pointless to stress about it when this sort of news/info is guaranteed to be made public one way or another.

I actually like Jones, I don't think his job is to report as much as it is Person's, no?

considering the role gates played in san diego, i think olsen is feeling ok. he's now our number one receiver and cam's most famliar target. i see a big year for him.

Good Point.  Glad we still have Olsen.  He may not be the fleetest of foot but he damn sure can catch a pass.  That bullet he caught for a touchdown from Cam Newton was one of the hardest, fastest passes I have ever seen. That includes QBs like John Elway and Burt Jones who were known to have cannon arms.

    • I still think another QB is brought in Day 3. Grier is camp body level at this point.
    • We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.
    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
