I THINK the Panthers will seek trade for new DT

then you're still incredibly small up the middle and you're just going to get blown up.

Brayton at least has some experience playing DT. And on the plus side, he does give us more of a pass rush threat inside. And he's quick. So what you give up in size, you make up for in speed.

We're not going to find another 6'5" 350lb Kemo-type the way it's looking.

Why not pull a belichek and see how Geoff Schwartz does at DT?

Might seem far fetched but HE IS A BIG DUDE (6-6, 331) and could come in on obvious rushing downs?

I mean, this is football, and if you cant get a guy you want you take what you have and do your best.

I dont think its as far fetched as it seems, DT is not rocket science....

I say we take who we have and we get their best and go from there. They are in the NFL for a reason, lets find out.

..........

Nick Hayden?, Corey Irvin?

NO.

Lets not just pray our severed arm magically stops bleeding and heals itself.

we need to see a doctor ASAP.

The Panthers really should have drafted/signed a sub/replacement for Kemo years ago.

We could put brayton at Dt along with Lewis and then have peppers at one DE spot and have our second round DE evett brown at the other starting DE spot. Then there is your starting 4 for the year so long as none of them get a bad injury. Then just worry bout getting a few back ups for DT spot.

6-6 280 is not small.....not as big as you will like, but it seems with his motor and experince he could take some blockers on.those reasons can make up for his lack of size...

Dewayne Jarrett......... tHAT WOULD BE A NICE TRADE.

why would that be nice? You do realize Moose is 36 and we are gonna be back to having no #2 when he looses a step if Jarrett doesn't step up? Moose could lose that step this year or next or any day......

Too much to expect Brown to be a full time starter year one and be productive overall.

Charles Johnson

CJ, Brayton, Lewis, Peppers.....that isn't the kind of front 4 imo you can rely on for most of your pressure w/o someone taking a big step. Maybe CJ can do that....I think Brayton would be serviceable at DT but nothing more. Regardless, they at least need to sign a vet b/c there is no way Lewis and Brayton will make it 16 games each. imo.

    • I think they are holding back to see what they have in the young guys, but I think it's a near certainty at some point they will bring someone else in. Right now (assuming we keep 5 CBs which is normal), the top 5 IMO are: 1) Jaycee Horn 2) Mike Jackson 3) Chau Smith-Wade 4) Shemar Bartholomew  5) Akayleb Evans   Obviously Jaycee is the alpha in that room and paid as such. Need him to stay healthy and continue to play at a Pro-Bowl level. Mike Jack did pretty well all things considered last year, and they gave him lower-level starter money. Fair deal for both sides.  Smith-Wade showed some promise as a slot CB. I think low-key he's a lock for the team. Different size and skill set than the other CBs. Shemar Bartholomew was the most sought after waiver claim last preseason. Was 5th CB most and inactive most of last year. Had a few defensive and ST snaps. Nothing of note good or bad but too small a sample size to make any judgment. Akayleb Evans was a 2022 4th Rounder for the Vikings. Has started 19 games (including Week 18 for the Panthers) in his career and played in 43. Was pretty good in 2023 before getting injured and falling down the depth chart last year. There's some other guys on the outside looking in, but until they show more in training camp I dont see anyway they make the 53. And only Jaycee, Mike Jack, and Smith-Wade are locks to make this roster IMO.
    • Was just reading the Ask the Old Guy story on the team's website and was shocked to see that only two 2nd Rounders have signed so far, 30 of them haven't. That isn't normal, the Texans really screwed things up for the rest of the league, no other explanation that I can think of for 30 of the 32 picks to still be unsigned at this point.
    • They need to address CB before season starts. This is not going to cut it.
