  1. Past hour
  2. Maybe. On the other side of 30 everything gets dicey. Some guys hold up a long time but most guys show up one day and they got old overnight.
  3. Rumor around the league is a third round pick, or something in that range.
  4. I totally get this perspective, my only counter argument would be I think Jalen will play atleast another 4-5 seasons in the league. He is a true DB rather than only an outside corner, I could totally see him play the next few years at corner and transition to safety in his latter half of his career ala Charles Woodson. I think he would last longer on the team then the average 3rd round pick in the league.
  5. Its masochistic at this point my friend, rod's lost this team Svechnikov went free lance trying to make things happen, its only a matter of time before no one believes in it.
  6. Please give me your perspective, from mine our corner room is a gaping hole. Jaycee is a stud, but behind him we have essentially nothing outside of a below average cb2, bad NB and no depth.
  7. Also Andrei Svechnikov has absolutely lost faith in the system its why he was out there trying to freelance and make somthing happen.
  8. Its nepotism his best friend runs the power play
  9. Its the same on Facebook too..... casual fans throwing a fit at me because I told them these guys are multi millionaire professionals and deserved to be booed because we paid to see that sh*t show
  10. To me the biggest problem under Rod is not bringing in some sort of power play expert as an assistant. It's inexcusable at this point. I think coaches raise the floor of a team and players determine the ceiling. Rod's coaching can get us to the dance but it's up to Aho, Jarvis, Svech, etc to take over the game and elevate the team in the biggest moments. When Aho is getting a wedgie while we give up 2 on 1s, I don't know what you want the coach to do. The NHL playoffs are just dirty as hell. They don't call hardly anything and you can basically just bully the other team the entire time. The teams that win the cup always have some element of their team that does that. Our team does not have that element.
  11. And no, @PNW_PantherMan, that really wasn't directed towards you. Just needed to vent after last night and all the weird toxic positivity on r/canes. I don't think they realize that by absolving Rod of all blame, they are just putting that blame on everyone else. "Stupid doomers, RBA is a god and this team would have folded and moved to Quebec if it wasn't for him!" Is a weird way to support your team.
  12. The leafs are a house of cards with 4 mega deals and no depth or goal tending due to it... it doesnt help that all of those stars also dissappear in the playoffs.... when the leafs lose its not a total collapse its just four guys not performing and the rest playing like the usually do.
  13. I agree with this and as far as Rod "changing the culture" I think Mr GAME 7 Justin Williams had far more to do with it than he is credited, The feel good 2019-2020 season doesnt happen without his leadership IMO
  14. So you would keep the Leafs core intact if you were their GM and just fire the coach? Rod isn't blameless and I'm not saying he's a perfect coach. I just don't think coaching is the reason we are losing this series. And if your main gripe is getting past the ECF hump, it starts with the guys on the ice. Bottom line is teams know they can bully the Canes for free and it's been a problem for years. I don't think that's a coaching problem.
  15. Don’t you love after a bad loss you say you are done watching the series then sometime the next day you sigh and look when the next game is because you know you are gonna watch it. I think I am in an abusive relationship.
  16. Canes in six what years? I'll be shocked if they win one game not to get swept lol if you think that I urge you to go watch the press conference that's a team that's mentally beaten and has no answers.
  17. Disagree that CB is a massive need.
  18. This sentiment is really starting to bother me. Because, you are right. We do have one of the most well run organizations in the league. And, a lot of fans seem to think that Rod is that entire organization. This line of thinking completely discredits all of the hard work that GMs, scouts and players have put in to make the team what it has become. Not to mention the impact that the ownership change has had on the team. You will never hear me singing the praises of a billionaire. But, the fact is, we went from a cap floor team to a cap ceiling team under TD. Have we dramatically improved from the dark old days since Rod took over? Absolutely. But, he wasn't the only one contributing to that rise. And if he leaves, the house of cards isn't going to magically crumble. At this point, we've seen enough players leave and flourish (or come here and wither) to know that isn't true. The organization isn't one man. But, one man is responsible for setting lineups, line combos, d pairings and drawing up set plays. And, to me, that is what lost us these 2 games in embarrassing fashion. I don't believe that Florida is just some unbeatable juggernaut running roughshot over the league. Last I checked they didn't go 82-0. If you believe this is a personnel issue, by all means, bame the players, the scouts and the GMs. Blame everybody but RBA. If there was one player or position group to blame, I would tend to agree with you. When an entire team collapses, it's not on the players. It's on the leadership and they are the ones who should be held accountable.
  19. What would we send? That would be the deciding factor for me. I don't mind it if we don't give up too much to get him. He has no guaranteed money beyond this year.
  20. No. This team doesn't need to be trading valuable assets for 30 year old stopgaps.
  21. I wouldn't. This team needs to go younger at the high cost skill positions. They cannot afford 2 CB's making top dollar no matter how good they are.
  22. Would you consider trading for Jalen Ramsey? Generally speaking I’m against trading for older vets on a rebuilding team. But, considering our massive need at CB it begs the question. Chau Smith Wade was a liability at nickle last year and Mike Jackson is more suited to be a CB3/4. Past that we have basically zero depth and zero promising young prospects at CB. Jaycee paired with Jalen would easily give us a top 5 corner duo for the next 2-3 seasons. Combined with the fact Jalen is the best run defending corner in the league and can align at NB and outside; with the potential to move to safety as he ages. This is the slowest news cycle part of the year just wanted to throw out this hypothetical. What are y’all’s thoughts?
