  1. Past hour
  2. If the Saints, a team arguably worse than we were last season, with a similarly bad defense (although not as historically bad as we were) let the guy go... ... there's a reason. The only thing we could gain from grabbing him is some insight into the Saints' special teams efforts. And that's just not worth a roster spot.
  3. Panthers are going to run the ball like crazy against the Jags. Hopefully the starting OL can play.
  4. Not good for any professional athlete and especially one that isn't freakishly gifted like a lot of first round picks.
  5. Yep and that is at Texas Tech, who pulls in a massive chunk of money from both of those sports.
  6. That's insane. I have to imagine that women's softball is a losing proposition for almost every school. Hell, everything outside of football and men's basketball probably is. They're called the "revenue sports" for a reason. Those sports basically fund the rest of the athletic department.
  7. They're gonna run some Travis Hunter trick play on us and its gonna work.
  8. Trevor went 14 out of 17 Bryce went 4 out of 8 Trevor had 3 drives. Scored on 2 of the 3. Zero 3 and outs. Bryce had 5 drives. Scored on 1. Four 3 and outs. I mean, if you had to pick one in terms of rolling into the season. The Jags starters had a better preseason.
  9. It just gets more extreme as you go down the sports totem pole. I was watching the women's college softball championship, and the team that won had a 1 million dollar pitcher. They made a pretty big deal about it on the broadcast, as she was basically the biggest prize in the sport by far. How many women's softball programs can spend 1 million on an ace pitcher?
  10. I don't think the Jags were any good in preseason either, but I could be wrong.
  11. I'm definitely not sure about it. The premise is that the offense starts fast and the defense does enough. I'm leaning more on Canales' assessment of Bryce than the media's. They both seem confident. We'll see.
  12. And honestly you have to divorce basketball from football. A lot more schools could probably afford to compete in the top tier of basketball vs. football.
  13. Eh, I am not so sure about that. We have 3 new WRs at 1, 3, and 4 or 5, and the number 2 guy couldn't catch important balls to save his life last year. We don't even know if we will have our starting LT and the Jags have a solid pass rushing duo. This game feels like a toss up to me. Especially if that Panthers start out sputtering like the last 2 years. I don't trust the practice tweets, the media said Bryce was killing it in practice before year 1 and 2 and he poo the bed immediately to start the season. I'm particularly looking to see if he can start off where he left off last year and not where he started the year at.
  14. Jags O is definitely the more threatening and dangerous O of the two....and the defenses are likely a push.
  15. Yeah, lot of these chirping fans would quickly find out their real place.
  16. i am not sure I understand how this is supposed to be an easy win? the Jags have a much better team on paper than the Panthers & Liam Coen had one of the best offenses in the NFL last season with basically the same group of guys on offense that Canales had with a 20 ish ranked offense ...just saying
  17. Oh for sure, most of the ACC would be out. All those schools whose fans chant "SEC! SEC! SEC!" so that they can ride the coattails of the actual good teams would be out. The bottom half of the Big10 would be out. It would be a complete realignment.
  18. for one the more winnable games on the schedule, it's a bad setup for us though. We are sort of limping in. Starters showed nothing in preseason to really get any excitement/confidence for week 1. Team is sort of scrambling to get their basics in a row. Last minute AT trade, Coker injury, now Icky injury. Road game. plus side, is Jags have an equally bad defense. And Trevor Lawerence is Dr. Jeckyl and Mr Hyde. Game to game and sometimes series to series. No matter the order, Panthers need to find a way to be 3-2 through the first 5 IMO. If they aren't best case becomes a 3-6 start I would think.
  19. Yeah, that's what I mean. It will basically be a football organization filled with the deepest pockets and best markets. That likely excludes almost if not all the ACC.
  20. I hesitate to call this game a must-win, but we should beat this team even on the road if we want to be serious this season about anything.
  21. It doesn't come down to current performance. It comes down to ability and willingness to spend. UNC would be there, probably hovering near the bottom in football and competing in basketball. You know, pretty much same as it ever was.
  22. Should have just made a RB #2 QB from that list...
  23. If the coaches have freedom of movement and if the regular students have freedom of movement, so should the athletes. Tired of this fake "student athlete" crap that they have pushed for decades when what they meant was unpaid labor. I am perfectly fine with free agency every offseason until real contracts exist.
  24. You're only in school for 3-5 years so it's really 6 in one hand and half a dozen in the other. Contract or transfer portal restriction has the same effect on player mobility. Either way, the NFL doesn't have year by year contracts where everyone can freely enter FA every offseason.
  25. Pretty much the entire ACC minus perhaps Clemson and FSU would be outside that agreement.
