He's played great and it was a win-win (rare free agent) for both parties. One of the points is he hasn't made enough difference to "waste" 35 million on. Another point is by the time Panthers are hitting their prime, he would have taken snaps away from young WRs/TEs/RBs. "Thus" in the long term, hurting the teams new future "window." But I dare think of the monkey poo of a offense the Panthers had without him the past 2 years. Lack of talent leads to many problems, including paying a 35 year old to be somewhat respectable. Hes one of few that cared enough and made a effort. Plus you know he's done great stuff in many other ways for the team, community juggernaut, leadership, etc. Judgement is for AT and his 3 year panther career!!

But it has gotten a little wacky. RBs-https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/contracts/_/position/rb A couple months ago iggles made Bark the highest guaranteed RB, jeanty was until then. That's what matters the guarantee. A rookie never played a down was the leader, until iggles howie made things right. If a safety gets drafted in the top 8 or so, he would have the highest money too or very close to it. Add in TEs and C too. Even with the fixed %, the numbers are getting too much for a player that's not proven themselves. Plus anytime a QB is drafted it screws up the contracts for players around and if next year a punter gets drafted at the same 90th spot, they want the same contract with the 5.7% increase. Teams would be laughing. Its just reached this point. Another 10 years and I bet the vets will be crying. - Yesterday

It's 8 million over 4 years.... I'd bend a knee... there are much worse FA contracts being handed out. Gives teams more incentive to draft well. The Browns and Texans basically screwed the rest of the league. Someone may want to tell that commie Jimmy Haslam to stop with all this guaranteed money. If he keeps this up the NFL is going to be screwed. -
You forgot the goat: He Hate Me.

Nothing they can really do. The rookie wage scale is based on the salary cap as negotiated in the CBA. They’d need to sign a new CBA to make changes. And like I said, the money can’t really get out of hand. It’s a set percentage based on the current year’s salary cap. If the salary cap increases the rookie scale will reflect that increase. The only real negotiation points the rookies have are guaranteed money and the off-set language in the contract. The numbers are set. -
I kind of dig the ‘nobody but a few’ jobs are safe approach that Dan has employed. Everyone needs to watch their back. No more feel good stories.

Honestly Frank is right if you view AT in a certain way. He's not apart of the future and Panthers won 2 and 5, correct? Did it matter if AT was on the field or not? Plus in a way he does hinder young WR with taking snaps. He is getting paid very well for 34-35 year olds, not many teams, maybe no other teams would give that much. Its the classic both sides have key points. I was of the opinion to cut him and didn't care for the og contract, but they traded DJ Moore...I thought Clark was going do what AT did, nope! Just to add if 2021 hunter is back and he's on a min deal, would you rather have AT@ 9million or hunter@ 1mill?

No receiver on this team, or any player for that matter, should get reps just because they need the reps. They want the reps? Beat the dudes out in front of them. Bust ass in practice and make fewer mistakes than everyone else. if this team is serious about competing with other teams, they should be serious about competing amongst themselves. Want it? Take it. If Adam really is that bad, he should be a piece of cake to outshine, right?

I'm glad you're wowed with winning the shortest midget contest. But some people have higher aspirations. Blaming him for what? Not wanting to pay him 9 million a season to be borderline mid at best is not blaming him for anything. It's a simple acknowledgement that we settled and going forward we need to cut that out and actually develop talent along the whole offense.

I believe... his ceiling will be average.

That’s a fair point. He definitely benefited from facing softer defenses in the latter half of the season. Still, I think it’s impressive how much progress he made. Going from a UFL type backup to a competent starter, even against easier competition, is no small feat. Does bring into context why it was historical, as his prior play was that putrid, but still a good leap nonetheless. That said, the real test will be whether he can maintain consistency and solid play over a full season. If we’re going to see any meaningful return on our trade-up investment, he’ll need to prove it wasn’t just a late-season flash. We’ll find out soon enough whether it was a fluke or the beginning of something special.

Dude is a straight baller and worth it. I didn't like the contract or the raise he got either, but he's bought effort and results on a awful team for those two years and wanted to come back..... I plain miss-read his heart and will. I mean think of the team the past two years WITHOUT him, dear gods that would historic bad. Plus I do believe he has helped BY become a NFL QB, no other panther WR gave any help.

All first rounder have fully guarantee deals, I believe since 2011. Just the Texans gave Higgins a full deal while he was the 34th taken player. Browns had no choice at that point to do the same for 33rd drafted LB. Honestly the NFL and players union may need to step in to fix the current mess. I foresee another reset ala 2011 rookie scale coming soon. I believe this years 6th overall pick Jeanty has the most guaranteed money BY FAR of ANY RB..... that just shows the RB market is hella bad. But Its starting to get like 2000s days, where the guy pick in the first is the highest paid. Like if a safety or center is draft in the top 10, they would be in the top 3 I believe. -

I’m not a fan of guaranteeing money to people who have never played a snap of NFL football, however, the rookie wage scale keeps things from spiraling out of control. I assume eventually all rookie contracts will be fully guaranteed. -
This is some real talk type of stuff. Im guilty of bad AT comments and all he's done is drag the team towards the light. Ill expose myself more, the reports came out that he wanted a little more money and guarantees for the 2025....... I thought it was best to cut him......Like my guy you are 35 years old and that contract was more than fair when your original team didn't want want you back.

101 in YPC and 54th in touchdowns in 2023 with 1k yards. In 2024 when our passing offense supposedly showed growth he was still 43rd in YPC and 50th in touchdowns. The only thing odd and bizarre is thinking that justifies 9 million a season bud. It doesn't. We can accept it because we're Panthers fans but that's about it.
