I think the best thing that could happen for us this year would be for Pickett to have to play and do better than Bryce. Maybe that would give them the cover to upgrade the position.

We saw the truth in the third game of his rookie year when Reich started Dalton vs Seattle. The offense had looked horrible the first two weeks and Andy made it look like an NFL game. Right out of the gate.

I keep saying it and no one agrees I guess, but a excellent pass catching running back would be a better place to spend those targets than a TE.

If they ever sub in Pickett it will be automatically obvious what the game plan is which is horrible as far as strategy goes

My thing is why does it have to be round one? I really don’t mind taking a receiver later, I understand the need. And the recent salary explosion for WRs make it a matter of practicality as much as an overindulgement of a midget QB. A little easier to stomach. I have bitched for years about the defense being shorted but I saw the reasoning last year with Tet, he was not a forced pick. Defense would have been. So no complaints or rants were made. But enough is enough. Get a receiver somewhere else besides 19, there will be a number of guys that can help us there as much as a WR. I mean, do people think a rookie WR is gonna come out and light it up with Bryce throwing to them in this offense? It took him 6 games to throw Tet a TD pass, in case people forgot. If we had a better QB he could have run away with OROY.

Here is the way I think it is behind the scenes: every effort is made to help Young succeed. That is what they would, ostensibly, do for any QB. He has shown some high ability, but has shown way too much inconsistency. Too much poor play. He has to raise his floor to the level that you gonna get good Bryce 90% of the time. Not 35-40% (if that), which does not cut it. If he can’t deliver they will make a hard decision.
