Chink in Jaycee Horns armor/Achilles heel
Dave Gettleman's Shorts replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
don't let this distract you from Evero calling a red zone 7 man, 0 coverage blitz against 6 blockers and failing to get pressure on Olave's TD -
He may have a DK Metcalf body but he's got a Plaxico Burress brain.
-
Lmao at XL being a raw DK Christ I’ve seen it all now
-
Yeah, that's unusual. Was it a big high school? I'm definitely not a fan of how dumbed down it seems like the NCAA has become. I've always acknowledged though that a college head coach's job isn't to get his players ready for the NFL. It's to win games, and for that you gotta do what works.

About as bad as last year. Wins over the Jets, Dolphins, and Falcons twice are unimpressive wins, beating a Cowboys team that was pretty banged up was an ok win, then we managed to surprise 2 teams that figured they could just win by showing up. Outside of the falcons week 3 win (where Penix was unspeakably bad) and the Jets win, all of our other wins have come by 3 points... Meanwhile, we have lost games by 16, 5, 29, 31, 10, 11, and 3.... If like 5 plays this season had gone differently, we are a 2 win team. We have had last year's Chiefs type luck in 1-score games and still won't finish above .500. When we regress to the mean next year with 1 score games, we will likely be back to 4-5 wins

Dude is a raw dk metcalf.... a quarterback who can't see the middle of the field and doesnt have the arm strength to zip plants and deep posts isnt gonna do him any good.
-
Canales and Evero were the guys I was looking at this past Sunday. There was also an unusual lack of discipline from our players, No I think a lot of folks blame the guys in the black and white stripes more. Brandon Staley is definitely winning in head to head competition vs Canales so far. Canales did a better job against him for about two and a half quarters but by games end our second tussle with the Saints for starting to more closely resemble the first one. Not gonna bother rehashing how I feel about Evero...

When XL was drafted it was acknowledged by many he wouldn’t be very good paired with Bryce….which he isn’t. Bryce had something to do with that. Bryce needs players that help him, XL needs a QB that helps him. He is raw and what he should be doing we don’t really do. you ask him to participate in our bad screen game and run crisp routes to catch spotty balls? That’s not XL. XL just flat out needs to time out physical and run dudes downfield…..and then needs good balls on to of that.

I mean I'm an early millennial and we ran a lot of these concepts when I was in high school in the late 90s early 2000s its crazy how over simplified college ball has become.
-
Who in the hell is giving Tepper and Fitterer credit? Funny how left out Morgan he was just as much on team Bryce as these two were
-
Bryce isn't why we lost on Sunday but if you'd have given him credit for a game winning drive had he actually done something on the last drive (and I would have) then in turn we have to acknowledge he didn't get it done this last Sunday when it mattered.
-
Oh we knew what Bryce was. Super elite processing, low ceiling, high floor. Red flags were all over him at Alabama but we chose to ignore them. You don't trade the farm to draft an undersized unicorn at the QB position. You trade that much for the guy that can be the next Manning, Burrow, Lamar, Mahomes, Allen. We didn't just cripple to the team by giving up picks and DJ to draft him, we've also had to spend almost 75% of our assets to surround him for at best, a mediocre production. Bring that back to even between offense and defense and how do you think we end up? And we need to throw in a 40-50m AAV contract for Bryce too. But we're going to credit Tepper and Fitterer with being geniuses for bringing us Bryce. The guy with the worst record as an owner over the last 8 years and the guy that got fired the same year he drafted Bryce. And I thought I smoked some good poo.

From the 70s through the 80s and a while after you could define most offenses as either Air Coryell, WCO (Walsh) or Erhardt-Perkins. The core philosophies of those systems are still around and I still use the terminology to describe concepys but I don't know that too many are strict adherents anymore. Reid maybe. Harbaugh is an old school kinda guy and Greg Roman is his OC so I'd expect a heavy WCO track. Carroll is using Greg Olson out in Vegas if I remember correctly. But yeah, with people style offenses being all but extinct at the college level, it's a tougher transition anymore... especially at quarterback and receiver. (remember one GM saying something like most college guys vouldn't recognize a route tree to save their lives)

omg you are so funny you kill me 2023 Chark and theilen both had their best games of the season the one start Dalton got AT had 1/5 of his total yards in that game and 2 of his 4 TDs. Fast forward to 2024 ALL of Diontes production came in the 6 starts he had with Dalton he had 2 targets for ZERO YARDS IN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS WITH BRYCEY AND THE MAIN REASON HE WAS LET GO WAS HOW PISSED HE WAS WHEN BRYCEY STARTED AGAIN..... Im done you are so deluded you can't see the truth.

This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion)
LinvilleGorge replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope the Panthers are making note of this. The good version of Tua was always the rosiest picture of what Bryce might be able to be in the NFL. Tua reached a much higher ceiling in the NFL than Bryce has been able to achieve thus far but he's a poster child for the risks of hitching your salary cap wagon to a seriously physically limited QB. -
He could be a threat for maybe a couple of games, and not necessarily in consecutive order. These days I think he's more of a threat to himself and his career

Panthers Leaders in Missed Tackles
LinvilleGorge replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
I doubt it. I mean, the Chargers probably kept track of those types of stats at the time but I don't even know if they'd still have them at this point. There's just way more metrics being tracked these days than there were 20+ years ago. At least in terms of public availability. I'm sure all kinds of metrics were being tracked in the past but they just weren't publicly available. -
Or when we're playing the Saints I don't believe he's had a bad season overall but the Saints (and especially Olavé) have kinda roughed him up.
-
I use it just to describe the PA/deep up/fade/corner and post... those were pretty non existent in the original spread, coryell is the run and shoot type stuff now a days i think. I think modern wise all offenses have a form of coryell now though as well as elements of the spread/west coast.
-
Diontae Johnson DJ Chark Jonathon Mingo Adam Thielen Bryce got the absolute most out of these guys.
-
He was a threat. He looked amazing in limited play time, tho I did not get to see the bengals game because of Helene. he just had mental health problems and now he’s out of the league.
-
Legette and Mingo's issues can't rightly be laid at Bryce's feet.

Chink in Jaycee Horns armor/Achilles heel
PantherChris replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think hes been fantastic with the pass rush hes been paired with.... if we had even a league average pass rush he doesnt give up a lot of the plays he has. -
I'm talking more Walsh style WCO than Coryell. I know they used to refer to Air Coryell with similar terminology but after Walsh blew up, I stopped hearing that term used outside of Walsh / Shanahan/ Holmgren and company.
-
A lot of Horns come in just 2-3 games the rest of the time the ball doesnt go his way much I will say i dont think many of his misses are in run support.... I feel its usually when hes shocked they threw it his way or missed a play on the ball
