  1. Teddy is marginally better than Kyle Allen at like 15x the cost.
  2. You're basing that entirely on your opinion of the position's value and not the actual market for the top runningback in football. It was $15m/yr and everyone knew he was was better. We can argue till the cows come about whether they should be getting that much.
  3. idk about the Jimmy rumor but Shaq and Teddy suddenly unfollowing when Houston needs to replace stars at both positions would be an incredible coincidence
  4. No one under contract "needs" to be extended what are you talking about. You do it early to try and get them at a good price before they're a free agent. Christian would have gotten at least 15m/yr with or without us.
  5. You might be onto something.
  6. You just knew the injuries would start right after the ink dried, huh? Pfft, no hindsight.... You're forgetting how high Christian's stock was at the time. Barring a career threatening injury Zeke's money was the starting point.
  7. The market was $15m/yr for the top RB in the league at the time. Hurney had a guy that was even better, and managed to only pay an extra $1m/yr more for him. That's good negotiation on both parts. I totally get you. The debate over whether the position is overvalued in general is completely valid, but relative to his peers it was good deal and arguably a bargain on Hurney's part.
  8. Easy to say with hindsight. He was looking inhumanely durable at the time and if that continued we would have had to pay more or someone else would have at the end of his rookie deal. Dallas set the market with Zeke months before CMC's deal.
  9. "He not special, just another hall of fame dual threat RB" is a nonsensical take IMO. I also think he's a more natural receiver than either and could play it full time if he had to, but that's beside the point. I'm not arguing about the value of the RB position in the modern NFL. I take issue with everyone acting like it was another crazy overspend on Hurney's part. You can argue about whether it's justified on the field but the market is what it is. He locked in the top RB in the league for just a little more than the going rate.
  10. Why in the year of our Lord 2021 are we still talking about McCaffery like he's just a RB. A 26 year old Alvin Kamara got 5 years/$75m ($15m/yr) A 29 year old Tyler Lockett got 3 years/$30m ($10.25M/yr) We have both of them combined in one guy, which makes for a defensive coordinator's worst nightmare, and he's only 24 years old. 4 years/$64m ($16m/yr). If you want to argue that due to the position's short life no RB should be getting that much money that's fair, but this idea that Hurney overpaid is ridiculous. CMC is barely the highest paid player at his position and is by far the most valuable.
  11. If Houston wanted Christian the deal would have probably happened by now. But just to play along: lock in Davis and ideally Samuel too.
  12. He's never missed this much time so we're in uncharted waters, but he's young and a workout warrior so I'm not worried about it.
  13. CMC ended the “no weapons for Cam” talk. Cam never had an offense as good as this current one. No, it’ll be like RG3 where we’ll be ridiculed for the decision if he doesn’t live up to his pricetag.
  14. We’re getting into the weeds a bit here. You can say technically two different GMs so it’s two different approaches but from Tepper/the teams perspective we made sweeping changes to the roster last year and we’re continuing to next year. There’s just a new person in charge of making the moves. It doesn’t have to be a complete fire sale to qualify. Hell, I think losing Greg, Luke, and Cam made it a rebuild by default, but you can call next season a second rebuild if that makes you feel better.
  15. Last year was to rebuild the winning culture
  16. I'll spell it out for you more carefully next time
  17. Context clues my friend it's literally their only connection to SC and each other. My point is both are especially famous in the Carolinas. I was in Asheville two years ago and someone was rocking a Watson Clemson jersey well after the fact. I can only imagine how popular him and Trevor are in South Carolina. Tepper wants to move the stadium from one of the most popping places in the state to the back of the Carowinds parking lot just to get more money out of SC. There's no doubt in my mind that it's factoring into his push.
  18. I really think the idea of having an franchise quarterback from South Carolina has consumed Tepper to the point where he'll give up just about anything to land Watson or Lawrence.
  19. Forget him mentoring anyone here if he's actually disgruntled but that's for the best IMO.
  20. I didn't even make the SC connection Tepper will trade the farm
  21. I bet Houston wants Burns and Chinn + picks and we keep offering McCaffery.
  22. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-insider-notes-dont-underestimate-david-tepper-and-the-panthers-in-the-deshaun-watson-sweepstakes/ Strong words here he may have ears on this for real There remains some confusion as to what was actually reported, or speculated, or just plain made up about the Carolina Panthers and some trade offer for Deshaun Watson earlier this week. But I can assure you of this much: Carolina is beyond smitten with Watson and owner David Tepper is fairly consumed by the prospect of landing him and no matter what happens with this transcendent young quarterback (and I still believe he is dealt at some point), the Panthers are going to play some role in the process. They might not be able to secure him, ultimately, and others clearly possess higher draft capital, but when it comes to Watson, Tepper's aim is true and their desire is real.
  23. We were so unlucky with Curtis. By the time he got healthy and really rolling the offense had mostly moved on. The guy's too talented to be a 4th option.
