If you think Smith's hating on McMillian or tall recievers you didn't watch the video. He may have been guilty of that in the past but he says outright that his problem is people see a tall reciever and tend to overlook everything else about him. He was complimentary and believes the guy will pan out. His only real criticism was comparing Tetairoa to himself actually, saying like he felt like he took plays off when he wasn't the primary target. EDIT: The AJ Green comp they made is way better than Evans. Small finesse reciever in a tall frame.

Round 1 - Panthers Select Tetairoa McMillan at Pick 8

A Ted Ginn type does us little good if Bryce’s deep ball is actually weak -
Sorry, I'll never understand getting worked up over stuff like this. Athletes are like walking motivational posters from the time they're kids. I want players who are invested and treat football like a lifestyle, not a desk job.

Smith didn't want speculate on his character but he did hear he was a good kid from another scout. Could just be a chill guy like DJ Moore was. I didn't know NALO was a nickname thought it was just a motto. Suggests that he does know what he's up against though.

Round 1 - Panthers Select Tetairoa McMillan at Pick 8

giving Benjamin and Funchess 2.0 ngl, but I'm encouraged that McMillian is a much better prospect than Funchess and that we also have Coker to take the pressure off. Going to be really interesting to see how the targets go when we have no clear #1. -
Could still be true and they were as surprised as the rest of us. Doesn't really matter though as long as it works out. I like that Canales and Morgan seem to be on the same page. Probably the most in sync GM/HC combo we've had. I actually believe him when they say "our guy." I felt like Fitterer took orders or signed a former player of his most of the time, Gettleman had his own kingdom, and Hurney was somewhere in between. These two seem to have a shared vision of what this team can be and I haven't seen that out of the front office in a long time, if ever.

Love or hate Scout Smitty, 35 minutes of our franchise's best WR talking about the new guy three weeks before the draft is an interesting watch - Steve's choosing his words more carefully now and keeping his favorites close to the chest lol - Most teams had T-Mac as top reciever in the draft and the only one with WR1 potential. - Finesse player in a large body. Compares him to AJ Green. "I love AJ Green." Interestingly Green was considered speedy and Tet ran a faster 40. - "F****** dangerous in space" per scouts around the league but has trouble getting seperation. - Below average strength/physicality for his size. Difficulty blocking and against the press. - Low energy when he's not the focal point. Smitty actually saw some of himself in him there. I thought this was his best insight. - High floor. Believes he'll be good at worst. Summary: A natural at wide reciever with unique athleticism for his size. Question marks around drive and physicality will be the difference between him being good or great.

Tony Pauline: Patriots taking LB Jalon Walker @4

also feel like Gettleman was just bullshitting us with it because he knew -

BPA is a lie and I wish we'd stop talking about it like there's a universal power ranking for the draft class. It's meaningless because "best" and "need" are both highly subjective team by team. Most media big boards had Fletcher Cox ahead of Luke. The good teams have the luxury of low stakes picks and incrementally upgrading the roster because they don't really have needs. The bad teams have needs at critical positions that are hard to draft, as we well know. -

Greg Olsen nominated for Emmy over Tom Brady

Imagine paying $375 million to replace a guy up for his third Emmy in a row -
Doesn't bode well for their confidence in Leggette IMO. Very similar profile.

Darnold and Mayfield making $100m each and their stats since leaving are better than Young's career so far.

The whole idea behind drafting Bryce was that he'd be a distributor so we wouldn't need one. That's how they justified trading our #1 WR to get him. I don't believe the passing game is so bad that we should be abandoning that already, especially now that Bryce is finally coming along. Coker looks good, XL is far from a lost cause, we still have Theilen as some extra insurance. They should draft a burner in the early rounds but it doesn't need to be the first pick.

An incentive based, non-guaranteed contract makes the most sense for the situation but it would make cap management a pain and Bryce might prefer to just test the market when the time comes. In short: it's too soon.

David Newton getting too close to our players?
MechaZain replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
And it's a trap to get something out of them in the heat of the moment. Players either have to rattle off some generic non-statement, say something that could get them in trouble, or say nothing and get in trouble. The NBA sideline interviews are the worst. The guys haven't even caught their breath yet and getting asked to assess the game they just played -
Cam acts like he's a respected authority who can criticize teams and other quarterbacks. I get why. If all these talking heads who've never thrown a football in their life can speak on it than why not a Heisman winner and MVP? Problem is the narrative that Cam was a gifted player who came up short because of his selfishiness is still alive and well. So that gets thrown back in his face a lot and he takes the bait everytime. It's all been downhill since the Game Changers vs Game Managers stuff. From anyone else that's normal sports talk, but Cam's legacy is still too up in the air to be criticizing the people actively doing it. . Just recently he was asked if he would trade the MVP for a SB ring and it set him up to basically diss his old team. And he has too much of an ego to just state his opinion and stand on it so he tries to defend his legacy and then he becomes the topic of conversation It's not like in the Carolinas where we blame his shoulder, his coaches, his roster etc. The average NFL fan thinks Cam is still physically capable and just too eccentric, selfish, or inaccurate to be in the league anymore. I don't think he realizes that so he keeps putting himself out there and making it worse.
