  1. Agreed If I could take 4 throws back and try again those would be it. 2 to Zylstra and 2 to Marshall.
  2. Love the zip pass and receivers have to be able to come down with those shots. However, a well placed ball can be just as effective as trying to throw it though a tiny gap. PJ puts a little air, not a lot, just a little and drops it in. Marshall makes those catches.
  3. I wouldn't say clearly but he's making a case. I'd prefer a bit more accuracy and some touch now and than.
  4. I think the past 25 year argument is probably the worst argument you can have in this forum. Each season is new, different players, different rules. You can give your reasons why the past sucked. Hurney, Fox, Rivera and the list goes on and on but each season (most of them) starts with hope. We should start each season with our pessimistic or optimistic attitudes but with valid talking points. I think there are some extreme rose colored-glasses fans as well as the sky is falling fans. What I do notice mostly, NOT ALL, is that the majority of negative threads and comments are simple statements with rarely any backing opinion. And God Forbid you have a difference of opinion. Mud starts to fly then. Insane.
  5. Hoskins was a beast in the 2nd half but I know I saw him on the field in the 1st half. I saw him blow up his opponent a couple of times in the 2nd half but really didn't notice much in the first half. Anyone have their takes on him in the 1st half? I saw Nixon in there but really didn't hear his name too often. He was one I thought might be a steal. Thoughts?
  6. IMO PJ isn't the answer either. As much grief as Grier has been getting. PJ has some pretty bad throws as well. The only thing I did like was the velocity he throws with. A lot of zip but no touch. Marshall had two plays (I can immediately recall) out there that he missed because there was no touch on the ball. Darnold drops it in and those are catches instead of PBUs. Honestly, if Darnold goes down, I am on the phone to P. Rivers and see if he wants a curtain call. He recently said he would consider the option.
  7. You may be right. The only way you are going to be able to tell is to let Grier start the 2nd game with the same lineup that PJ had. If Grier can't move the ball like PJ did than we know 100% that Grier is not the answer at being the backup or the backup to the backup.
  8. That's a pathetic approach to a pre-season game. These games should be used to not only work the players but the coordinators. They should be working on their craft as well. Who gives a rats ass if we win or lose the game. I know Grier didn't look too good but he didn't nearly have the same talent on the field as PJ did. I would like to see him get the 1st half reps next week against the Ravens. Even if he is abysmal. I think with the same offense that PJ had, Grier would have had more completions than 10-21.
  9. I was very happy after the first half and aggravated after the 2nd half. I then let perspective set in. Most of the 2nd half players, minus a few, are lower tier backups, PS or cuts. Overall our backups smack the crap out of Indy's backups.
  10. I think there are a lot of positives coming out of this game. I think Rhule and Co. will be able to put a fairly good O-line when game one comes about. Outside of the penalties, which damn near gave me an aneurism and probably Rhule, the O-line played well against their peers. (2nd and 3rd team)
  11. That's the sad part about our country. So many people look for little things to offend them. Rhule is a players coach. He would never be laughing at an injury on either side of the field.
  12. I was thinking the same thing watching this game. It's a good thing and you're right I expect to see one or two of these guys on other teams when the season starts.
  13. The penalty was because he directed his excitement over a player. If he had just gotten up did his flex and not directed it at another player I don't believe the penalty would have been called. It's one thing to show excitement it's another to do it over your opponent. There were several hits/celebrations, from both sides, like this during the game but only one that was directed at another player.
  14. Good God they miss a obvious holding call on that run.
  15. Depth on this team is looking pretty solid. Overall happy with the 2s and 3s.
  16. Grier's turn. Let's see how his accuracy is. If he plays better our 3rds should crush theirs.
  17. If he was a little bit more accurate we would be trounching them.
  18. I'm having to listen to the homer Colts broadcasters. I am almost tempted to put it on mute.
  19. We played so well defensively until tht last drive. I never understand the prevent. The only prevent it does is prevents us from winning.
  20. Well I hope your wrong too. I guess I am a bit more optimistic than you. But, I also understand your pessimism because retread QBs don't normally turn into Pro Bowlers when they move. Let's hope Darnold is the exception to the rule.
  21. THIS^^^ Teams don't game plan in preseason for the most part. Maybe a little in game 3 of the preseason. We have a good offensive coordinator and Darnold has been doing well as he learns the system. Once we have a gameplan in place I believe Darnold will execute the gameplan and be the QB that we hope he will be. He has the tools and the weapons. As I mentioned in an earlier thread Darnold has been dropping dimes all over the place. I see no reason why he won't drop them in the regular season. I think regardless of who we put on the O-line it will be better than what he had in NY. He may have some mistakes but he'll manage us to a winning record. We may regret not drafting Fields but I'm a believer that Darnold will reduce that chatter to a murmur. It will never go away because the Huddle GMs are too many and they know best even if he plays well.
  22. Horn may become one of the best corners in the NFL but 2021 isn't going to be a good year for him. I have no doubt he will have some impactful plays but he is also going to make his rookie mistakes. Some veterans are going to abuse him. He'll learn and be an All-Pro for us one day. IMO our best pick this draft (based on 2 weeks of camp) is Marshall and it isn't even close.
  23. I don't have an issue with it. It's nice to see articles that give a different perspective. Plus you also post comments on other threads.
