  1. To me this looks like speculation. No where has it ever been mentioned about us looking to trade Corral. IMO trading Corral is a bad idea. 1 we wouldn't get much more than a 5th or 6th rounder out of him because he doesn't have much tape. 2. He's going to be a good QB once he gets some experience. 3. Dalton is old and injury prone. 4. It's too early to know if Young is going to survive the NFL. One or two nasty hits could be a problem and if we let Corral go we are right back where we started.
  2. Running backs have very little power. To think back in the Day Hurney paid JW and D'Will huge contracts. Today it ain't happening. You can find a good RB anywhere from the top of the draft to UDFA. We got a good deal on Sanders no need to fill a spot with another RB.
  3. I was shocked when I heard the news. I saw the presser on YouTube and Reich was saying he just wasn't a good fit for us. Said it several times. The only thing I can think of as to why him and now is to give him an opportunity with another team.
  4. Luton had one decent drive with a beautiful pass for a TD. But talking about lost. The final drive we had zero chance of coming back. His throws were terrible especially considering he's playing against bottom tier players. Corral had two scoring drives in the 2nd half. While he didn't throw a TD he did lead a FG and a TD. The hate this man gets is unbelievable.
  5. Well only knowing what the movie showed it appears that Mr. Oher is out of money and looking for a way to recoup money he thinks he is entitled to. We saw a young man roaming the streets and a white couple take him in and treat him as a son. They got him on the field and low and behold he's a monster LT. I think the it is going to be hard to convince the courts that they tricked him. It sounds more like they got him to sign the conservatory and now that he is out of money he's looking to get some of it. I see both side so whoever wins, so be it
  6. I believe that one of two incomplete passes that Young had. One of them was to Shenault but Shenault could not disengage from the defender. Here's a guy that's supposed to be a physical stud and can't disengage from a defender to make the catch. If he had disengaged and made the out cut. Young would have hit him on the numbers. A good pass but a bad route. I hope we figure out a way to get him the ball, but he has to work on being a better receiver and not just a gadget play player.
  7. This is a very good point. It doesn't excuse the O-line from looking so bad but evaluation over score seems to have been our direction and not the Jets.
  8. True With Young being so undersized the offensive line has to be top tier every season. We try to roll with the crap we've put out there during Cam's time we are going to get Young killed.
  9. Our starting line last year was pretty solid and I am having a hard time believing we regressed so much in one off season. Maybe they bought into the Koolaid that they were a solid group and didn't put a good effort out there. If the next preseason game we don't see major improvement than I am sure many will start heading towards the panic button. The O-LINE must be a priority every year with Young. We cannot nickel and dime hoping to find a diamond in the rough. We can't have Chandler or Bell or any other project out there. If we nickel and dime this line we just wasted another first round QB career.
  10. Two sides of a coin. We have many good pieces, and we have a lot of questions. IMO it could go either way. We were 7-10 last season with one of the worst QB rooms in the NFL and still were sniffing the playoffs in a lousy division. I think it all falls on the rookie QB. If he has a year like most rookies do, we'll be picking near the top of the draft or I should say Chicago will be. However, If he somehow puts himself into the rookie of the year conversation than anything is possible. I think the defense will be as advertised and keep us in many games. Young pulls a couple games out for us we can win the division and make the playoffs. This is definitely a pessimistic vs optimistic Thread.
  11. The hatred on this forum for Corral is amazing. Young goes 4-6 66.7% for 21 yds and the blame goes to the offensive line. Rightfully So. Corral doesn't light up the world and he sucks. (15-22 126yd 68.2% 0TD 1 Int) This mainly comes from the same group of people that said he sucked after Fhules Debacle on the QB position last year. God knows you all to be wrong. Others believe he had a decent week considering the play of the offensive line and him not playing for nearly a year. It behooves us that he improves. One, Dalton isn't going to be around forever, two a good young backup helps us if we happen to lose Young. Three, the backups available at this moment are far worse than a young Corral. Four, which could happen especially for a young team. Corral is traded for picks. I am sure there are more reasons to hope he improves. Carolina Panthers News: Matt Corral, Frank Reich, Bryce Young and Amare Barno (catcrave.com) Yeah I know, it was against scrubs that won't make the NFL roster. This is Corral's fault? I am pulling for Young to be our savior. I think he really is going to be very good once the regular season starts. The weekly fear will be, is this the week he gets cremated by a 350 DT and survives?
  12. i was highly disappointed in our performance and IMO it looked like very few actually came to play. The PR allowed a punt to roll from the 15 all the way to the 2. Shenalt couldn't break away from the DB on a good pass from Young. Running game was non-existent. Just to name a few. Best thing is we are still 0-0. I am sure they were disappointed. I am not panicking yet. What I am hoping is that our staff learned a lot about our depth chart. Who can play and contribute and who needs to start looking for employment outside of football.
  13. Of course we all want to win every game but the truth is. There isn't any game planning. The entire starting lineup isn't in there and most games are very vanilla. So No. I do tend to think whoever won in the 1st half is the true winner of the game.
  14. I just watched the New England / Houston game and Stroud looked overwhelmed. If their offensive line plays like it did in this preseason game. He's going to have a rough year. They were consistently getting pushed around by NE defense. It wasn't until late that Houston scored and ran away with it in the 2nd half. Both teams look horrible.
  15. If you remember Chinn outplayed Simmon their first year in the league. I wasn't Chinn's fault that he was underutilized in our defense. Chinn this year will show he's just as good as Simmons. Most don't give any Carolina players their proper due. I am not saying Simmons is overrated either I just believe that Chinn is highly underrated. While I agree Roy was a Rhule guy you don't normally jettison a player off the 90-man roster unless you are certain someone (McCall) has won the position. You appear to think that your takes are more accurate than others.
  16. Young's football IQ made him the best pick and I am happy we have him; however, Richardson was my #2 pick. The guy has a huge upside and eventually is going to be a threat very similar to Cam. Indy IMO is probably in a rebuild mode and Richardson was the best pick for that rebuild.
  17. Capers is his advisor and mentor so I don't think if Evero leaves we won't have a similar defense without him. Hopefully, he stays two years and we get compensation for him when he does go. Actually, I do believe we have a better Simmons in Chinn. There has been so much focus on the offense and Young's growth that our defense is well under the radar. From Evero being at the helm to each starting position filled with good players. Health will be important for the backend, but this defense is going to help us win a lot of game. I am excited about McCall being in the middle. He had to be leaps and bounds better for us to release two players that were in competition with him.
  18. Did Matt Fhule vote. He's gotta be the only one who thinks we are going in the wrong direction.
  19. I believe the entire key to our defense will be how the backend performs. If Horn and Jackson stay healthy, I think this defense could be very special. We have many good players up front. The keys are Jackson and Horn and that is my worry. Neither seem to be able to stay healthy. Our only other hope is that others on the roster step up in a big way. However, if they do stay healthy Evero will be able to do many exciting things with our defense. He's a proved DC that can lead a top 10 defense. No reason we shouldn't be inside the top 10. Let's go.
  20. One thing I think many haven't said about him is. What he means to the group. His leadership in helping the young wide receivers run proper routes will be invaluable. Adam is a fantastic route runner and is a clutch receiver. The philosophy of spreading the ball around will give him plenty of one on one opportunities and I believe he will have solid numbers this season. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a favorite target for Young.
  21. Are there any players from the USFL that might be brought in to compete. I know we signed one or two from the XFL.
  22. Agreed. I have always been optimistic about our coming season, even under Fhule, hoping that the coming season will be different than the previous. Only to realize it is the SOS. I don't think someone is going to say they are going to expand the playbook to put fear into other teams, to boost his confidence or to give the fans hope that they picked the right guy. They said it because he's grasping the scheme and is showing he can handle more. I think we should look at him as a Luke Kuechly on offense. Someone who really dives into the playbook and the scheme we are running. Someone who focuses on every detail. This isn't a bad thing. Because we might expand the playbook doesn't mean he's never going to make a mistake. The one thing I bet he will do. Is never make the same mistake twice like Darnold used to. I'm optimistic as hell and believe he is going to good. I also expect mistakes. Super excited for the next 5 weeks to be over.
  23. I love Diggs but he's a Primadona and we really don't need that with Young. Reich wants to spread the ball around to make defenses cover everyone. Diggs will demand the ball more and mess that system up. I am anxious to see our WR corps perform.
  24. Add a little Braveheart face paint and they'll never come back.
  25. Theilen is an excellent route runner and his input to these young players should not go unnoticed. Even if Theilen has pedestrian numbers his value to the locker room will be worth every penny we pay him.
