They shouldn’t be counted at all. It could be a separate statistic for kickers post 2015. XPs are worth 1 point. FGs are 3. And they’re weighted the same in that metric. Not fair.

You’d have to dig into the numbers to prove that. I think it’s unfair to weight XPs for some kickers and not others because of a rule change. I think Gano was honestly worse closer to the goal posts than further away. I think if you take away the XPs his numbers might actually improve.

Um no the opposite, he kicked 33yd XPs for most of his career.

That data is flawed. They include extra points only after 2015 as “clutch kicks” but 75% of the kickers on the list weren’t kicking 33 yard XPs in their careers.

That’s the only actual game winning field goal I can recall him missing in his entire time with the Panthers. He made all the others he lined up for with the game on the line. Giants and Colts in 2015 he made. Patriots in 2017. Giants in 2018. I guess he wasn’t clutch though. Moving on from Gano was understandable given his injury but saying he wasn’t clutch is the dumbest trash take the Huddle has taken up this year.

Off the top of my head just thinking about game winners/tying FGs, Bengals in 2014 (made a long FG at the end of regulation to send it to OT and a FG to keep it tied at the end of OT). 2015 against the Colts in OT (two FGs, one to tie and one to win in wet conditions). 2015 against the Giants to win it at the end. 2017 against the Patriots at the end to win it. The only last second game winning FG chance I remember him missing was the 2016 Broncos game. Bottom line is he was way more clutch than he wasn't. Saying he wasn't clutch is just wrong, and I guess it's just because everyone here has a bad memory or haven't been fans for very long.

I get why they did it at the time because the 2017 Panthers roster was veteran heavy and ready to compete for a Super Bowl and they didn’t want to have a rookie kicker with a roster like that. Gano was then and still is one of the best kickers in the NFL so even though losing Butker stung they still had a great kicker. Now we have none and it’s just so typical Panthers to do something stupid like that.
