Brian Burns is getting destroyed in the run game today.

Don't blame me, I would've taken that deal. -

There's more than one way to skin a cat. That being said, I'm rooting for CMC, and I do think he'd have given them a better shot. I think that CMC's potential will be better realized in San Fran however, so I think that he's in an overall better situation than had he gone to the Bills. I don't think Hines is anywhere close to being a scrub, and his relative productivity says otherwise. He was never on McCaffrey's level, but there's no shame in not being CMC.

I get what you're saying, don't get me wrong, but I still don't think it's a good idea to pass up on a potentially great player at one position for an inferior one at another. Who you take should be based upon scouting, and you have to trust your grades and your board to have a legitimate method of executing the draft, or it's all for naught. If you're just willy nilly up there going off script, you won't be successful. Stick to the board. By the way, In today's NFL, I don't think that it's a coincidence that the last three champs have had highly rated receivers. It just makes the life of the QB so much easier, and can easily lead you to a championship, provided that you have a franchise-level QB.

Let us pray that it doesn't come down to a kick.

I know that it gets old and sounds like GM-speak, but "BPA, BPA, BPA!" You shouldn't draft players out of need, especially on days one and two.
-
We haven't, but I didn't say that we had. I simply answered a question. It's not totally inconceivable that we wouldn't begin a treadmill of reaching for a QB, being that we have relatively new leadership. I don't think we'll do it, but that's only based on a feeling at this point. But, again, I was only answering a question based on a possible hypothetical occurrence.

On the real, Hooker missed some passes, and he looked like he folds under pressure inside the pocket. Granted that he was probably tired of getting beaten, but he doesn't appear to be a legit first rounder to me.

Go dawgs! They'll make anyone look bad to be honest.

ProFootballFocus Mock Draft has Carolina Picking at 3 - Will Levis
top dawg replied to Varking's topic in Carolina Panthers
Because, it's all about development. Given the right situation, he could turn into a beast. -
If we think that a QB is all that and a bag of chips, trade up. I haven't seen that guy in the upcoming draft yet, so I think they would need to stay where they're at and draft the BPA (and if that happens to be a QB, then great). If not, then so be it. Don't get me wrong, I believe in taking swings, but only if the swing is worth taking. You can't just be whiffing in the first round year after year taking wild swings out of desperation; the guy has to show that franchise-level play. Otherwise we can get a vet, possibly draft a QB on day two, and look to develop Corral as well. Impatience is arguably a big part of the reason why we are here. Fields fell, and we skipped over him, but he did fall, and with proper support and development he could turn out as the best of that draft.
-
Corral, provided that he gets over his injury in time, will be very much on the same footing as any of these QBs coming out from what I've seen. You let them engage in a legit competition with equal reps and you see what's shaking from there. That's the only sensible thing to do, and I'm going to trust that the next HC will be sensible because Tepper doesn't want anything resembling to a failed Rhule-like tactics.

I would've taken the picks, but I don't necessarily think that Burns loses value or gains value because we didn't. He's still a premier rusher and really young to boot. He hasn't really even hit his prime yet. Just like I saw people way undervaluing him before the deadline (talking about a trading him for a third), there seem to be people undervaluing him now. He's very young, talented and proven. We'll pay him, or there will be suitors waiting to give us those two ones or more.
-
The thing is, you gotta pay though for a top Edge. He'll never be at the very top tier like Pep was because we'd have seen that already. We're kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place; it will be a big time contract for a tweener.

PFF grades from Panthers' Week 8 vs Falcons
top dawg replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I said the same thing a few weeks ago. I would compare him to a semi which gets a slow start, but once he gets going---to be so big---he goes down fairly easily as opposed to knocking people out the way. Don't get me wrong, I think he's NFL-level, but as a backup. -
Rams Offering Two (Future) Firsts for Burns

The trade deadline is past. That's the end of it until at least mid March.
