I mentioned John Metchie III last month. Houston may not want to part with him though. He's coming off cancer, but he's healthy, young and has played with Bryce, and seems to be a superb route runner. I always liked him in college
-
He was in a unique situation, so why mention him?
-
Icege basically proved my point. He said that Chuba had 7 drops his rookie year on 37 passes. Last year he had 1 drop on 17 passes. He's doing even better this year. The "stone hands" thing really no longer applies.
-
Chuba has cleaned that up considerably. Stop acting like opposing DCs are saying, "Chuba's in, that's an automatic run." Chuba caught his fair share last year. Is he perfect? No. But is he leaving balls on the field like he did his rookie year? No.

If Jefferson and Chase are 10s, TMJ is a 3, and I'm being nice.
-
Well, we'll find out. Young has still got milk behind his ears, but TMJ should be outta diapers by now. He's just does seem as dynamic of a receiver as was intimated when we drafted him.
-
I said it plenty with Rivera: if one guy isn't getting it done, you should give others an opportunity to get it done.
-
We'll know when the real action begins. He looks healthy. The cutting is promising. You just never know until the live bullets start flying. I will be looking for relative speed and explosiveness.

Let's not overhype things. It would be nice to win a game, but let's just look for palatable improvement. Consequently, this is the first game that I thought we'd win, but we have unexpected injuries.

Tepper is not a meddling owner, he just kinda sucks at hiring the right guys.

That's not a measure of a team. Our division sucked like ass last year. Put any of us in any other division last year, including the AFC South, and we're likely last too. I know damned well, every team in the NFCS would've probably been last in the AFC North and AFC West as well. We sucked! Moreover, you're acting like Robert Woods hasn't been solid. He had an injury, but he's still Robert Woods. Nico Collins was expected to improve this year. Tank Dell is proving his supporters right, and Metchie coming off his illness was an excellent receiver coming out of college. Lastly, Dalton Schultz is arguably better than Hurst. I think the RBs are arguably a push. The lines, at least this season so far are comparable. Admittedly, I'd have rather hired Ryans than Reich. Again, last year was a mirage. Furthermore, all teams try to improve and progress. No one's out there standing still.

With our lack of offensive creativity (no pun intended, however appropriate), we need to try everything we can. We'll just have to disagree that Thielen should always be the first read on short to intermediate passes. We don't have Chase, Higgins and Boyd. Neither do we have Kyle Pitts. We need a multi-pronged passing attack that incorporates all the sure-handed, experienced vets. You have to keep the opposition guessing to be most effective, especially when you're trying to control the ball and move the chains. To do anything less is just insane within the context of our football team. If we weren't going to use Hurst, then we shouldn't have signed him. We could do the same things with what we already had. Hurst was the play maker in the first game, and the ball was moving effectively when he was involved.

This Team Has Been Hamstrung for Several Years

Bingo. We haven't been the best at putting players into the best position to succeed and maximize their skill sets. -
Even more pressure numbers (not for the weak stomach)

Thank you. I didn't have to say it. -
The first week, it looked like Hurst would be a thing. Now? Who the hell knows? A pass-catching TE is a rookie QB's best friend. Everyone seems to know that. Hurst needs to be purposely incorporated into the flow of the offense. Even Mike Shula knew how to effectively use a tight end as an offensive weapon.

I guess I'm the contrarian here. I think that if you can get value by trading for a player, and all you're losing is a day three pick, then you should definitely consider it. It's the day one and two picks that should cause a pause, but, even then, it's ultimately about value. As for trading, it's a part of doing business. Many times, trading is a good thing. Again, it's ultimately about value. Sometimes it's a great thing to trade, sometimes not.

PFF grades after week 3 (not for the faint of heart)

Y'all can believe in glass slippers if you want. You better believe in carriages reverting back to pumpkins, and tattered dresses too. -
What are your best ideas for trade packages to help this team?
top dawg replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
Along with trying to trade for Jeff Wilson, I'd also think about trading for John Metchie III if they'd let him go. Between those two and signing Mims and Ebron off of the scrap heap, we'd have some clay to actually work with. -
This is the first time as a Panthers fan that I've just felt completely lost. I just can't get a read on where this team is going. Or, maybe I'm just in denial. I will be in my sixties before this perpetual rebuild of suck resembles anything akin to a promising franchise.

Average time to throw (Spoiler alert: Bryce is 2nd to last)
top dawg replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kinda. -
I can dig it. Not gonna help to complain anyway at the end of the day. 24 hours is plenty.

My ire will be directed towards Reich and Fitt at the appointed time if it comes to that. Bryce is destined to be compared to Stroud to some degree for the time being. I do believe that their careers are way too young to draw any definitive conclusions. But, comparisons are quite logical even at this point, and this isn't the starting point (which began before last season even ended). -

They want to see us lose pointless games with Dalton, just like yesterday, against an atrocious defense. -

Honestly, I wouldn't do much, because draft capital is valuable. Perhaps I'd see if I couldn't acquire Jeff Wilson from the dolphins. Maybe I'd look into adding Denzel Mims and Eric Ebron. Reich probably wouldn't know how to maximize their skill sets though.
