Would you welcome back Star Lotulelei.....
SetfreexX replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
What do you mean emphasize ''If'' with Ioannidis in relation to his health? https://www.nfl.com/players/matthew-ioannidis/stats/career He's played in 14 or more games 4 out of his 6 years, and 10 as a rookie. He had the injury TWO YEARS ago in 2020 where he played 3 games. In 2019, and most recently in 2021 he played 16 games each. His health hasn't been a ''?'' during his career. -
Robbie/y on I Am Athlete podcast speaking on Sam & Baker
SetfreexX replied to Mills's topic in Carolina Panthers
So Robbie in 19, and 20 had almost 2000 receiving yards combined if not just over that (from memory). Yet with a bad QB, and OL you want to hold a down season strictly against him... Some of y'all weird af. -
CLE had a really good OL, and one of the best backfields in the league (Chubb / Hunt) I will say their receiver situation was never great, OBJ was hard to read his time there from a casual perspective, Landry to me was never ''special'' just a high volume guy underneath with some shots deep to compliment, then after that some ''forgettable'' guys or at the very least not household names (Peoples-Jones / Higgins). I think we have a better set of receivers, and we have untapped potential at TE that we saw a flash of with Ian when Olsen went down in 2018. Our OL is improved and should be at least average, and our division overall is not as strong as the AFC North has been. So for now ''meh''.

Matt Corral: The Biggest Underdog in The NFL
SetfreexX replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Give him the Jared Goff treatment like McVay did (In his ear with the info each and every snap). I think the reading of the defense part is over-blown a little if communication is live until I believe 15 secs on the play-clock. Likely not available with Brady given he literally had ''0'' OC experience, and not defending Rhule, but in an interview a while back I don't think he wanted Brady, but it was a decision that was funneled from up top, they wanted a ''slam dunk'' hire that off-season and Brady was the hottest name at the time. I still don't think his compensation was ever made public. -
This was the same thing I took away from this portion, it was clear he wasn't trying to throw Brady under the bus and be a classy individual. But he seemed happy about the items that are returning, if you haven't listened you should consider it.

Terrace Marshall Jr is the standout in this minicamp
SetfreexX replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
No, he's not, not when the depth is just Higgins, Zylstra, and Shi Smith who still has pending charges, Robbie isn't expendable until next off-season, we have NO real depth, and TMJ has to do it on Sundays first after he spent some good time in the training room his rookie year. I dunno why people act like Robbie was not legit coming here after 900 + yards with the Jets, then drop 1K with us with Teddie....he had a bad season, but I mean look at what we had at QB....and the OL didn't help the passing game either, nor the OC. -
Fitterer could still feel this way and want Baker, GMs want to win also, Baker gives you the one year to let Matt develop, while also being competitive as it's clear Baker is an upgrade over Sam.
-
Likely do to a few items: 1) Possible FA interest in other vets (Dunlap) 2) Post Camp Cap in reserve 3) Carrying over ''roll-over'' cap
-
There's roughly a 50% bust rate on QB's in the 1st round, I think that stat is lost on people, every year a player, or players are taken top 10 and flame out early. Just look at Baker's class, for all the poo he gets, Darnold, and Rosen who were consensus number one QB's on most boards are terrible, whereas Baker who was viewed as the 3rd is the better of the three. Keep in mind Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson <<< this was the same class for 2018, 5 QB's in the first round. The year before in 2017 was Watson, Mahomes (Trubisky drafted before both). Those were some good QB years overall, but history shows it's hard to get one so you have to swing when you have an opportunity, it's why I wanted Fields even IF / THOUGH we traded for Sam, as Sam was not a proven commodity, then picking up the 5th year, Matt's a freaking idiot.

All in all Ickey will be the starting LT once it's all said an done.

Not ''these'' guys...Rhule.

If Dunlap played 38% of the snaps in SEA (in 17 games), and Burns as a current example for us played 69% of the snaps, then a 62% snap count for YGM isn't out of the equation for the ''younger guy needs play time because he needs those reps'' crowd. (This would actually be pretty smart asking him NOT to HAVE to do too much in what is likely to be his first season as a potential FT starter) Then Haynes covers the 31% behind Burns in this example. I don't think there is a concern here. Your comment comes across as if YGM needs ALL the reps and that's not realistic, even our best pass rusher was under 70%. To keep a guy like Dunlap (33 years old) fresh that sub 40% is perfect; YGM plays downs 1-2, and can move inside on 3rd -- Burns / Ioannidis / YGM / Dunlap That is a nice passing down Nickel set with -- Haynes / Brown / Nixon, and maybe Luvu / Barno as rotational depth pieces as well.
-
I'm still ok with the young guys going into year 2 / 3 on the interior, can't see a big improvement on the FA landscape cost vs production comparison wise.
-
This was his deal with Seattle -- You'd have to think we're looking at a number likely smaller than that ''average amount''. 1 year - that maxes around 6M, based on incentives is what I'd be thinking. 2021-2022 CONTRACT:2 yr(s) / $13,600,000 SIGNING BONUS$7,000,000 AVERAGE SALARY$6,800,000 GTD AT SIGN:$8,500,000 TOTAL GTD:$8,500,000
-
Brown / Ioannidis - Starters Roy / Nixon / Hoskins - Depth I don't hate that, I think people forget just how good Nixon looked last year, and overall we held up inside, it was the perimeter where I feel like we got hurt versus the run. However, just fielding a competent offense will help with the defensive numbers by allowing them to rest, and hopefully preventing teams from having the luxury of running with a lead versus a worn out defense.
-
We notched 39 sacks as a team last season, I think this level of production could be exceeded in 2022, even if it is just cracking into the 40's -- https://www.nfl.com/teams/carolina-panthers/stats In 2015, we had 44 sacks -- https://www.panthers.com/team/stats/2015/reg Looking at these two lists, turnovers, sacks allowed, and our offensive touchdowns man sheesh...we sucked something bad. We have GOT to do something about QB, Sam's not it, and expecting a 3rd rounder to save us is a fool's errand. I like Matt's talent but it's hard for me to think he'll be ready Week 1.
-
I like that is a reasonable expectation, Burns, Haynes, YGM, and Dunlap gives us a versatile flexible 4 man rotation. Burns and Haynes are the speed off the edge, as both can stand up on play with a hand in the dirt based off their collge tape / NFL tape. YGM, and Dunlap are more traditional DE's that can set the edge in 4-3 fronts while also sliding inside to bolster the interior pass rush while flanked by Burns and Haynes. Factor in Ioannidis' talents as an interior rusher and Brown in his 3rd year on the interior. As a unit we could be better, people should remember the ''bulk'' of Haason's production was in 3 games if my memory serves. Not knocking his presence / impact, but it wasn't as consistent as ''12'' sacks might lead one to believe.
-
Still not ''more'' and I'm not arguing the talent he has, but the final number is the final number. It's not a projection stat, but for fun if bump that to 76% you think you are getting a 17 sack season... No, we deal with the final numbers. Dunlap: 6 sacks in 2020 (age 32) 9 in 2019 (31) 8 in 2017 (30) _______________________________________________________ I like the idea of adding this consistency to our team, but I'm not expecting a ''big year'' for a 33 year old defensive end that seems to have been relegated to passing downs as a specialist -- which is exactly what we need from him.
-
YGM, has done what a yound 2nd round pick should do...and that's ''flash''. This is a big year for him, and adding (Dunlap) helps with the rotation, people can't honestly think Burns, YGM, and Haynes are enough. I like the Barno addition, but he's also a rookie, veteran presence is need on the DL / in the defensive room to further solidify this group. I'm also not worried about the 2023 cap, room / money can always be created, people that haven't see the ''cash over cap'' breakdown need to give it a listen / watch. The salary cap is ''fluid''.
-
Dunlap had 8.5 -- https://www.nfl.com/players/carlos-dunlap/stats/career Burns had 9 -- https://www.nfl.com/players/brian-burns/stats/career __________________________________________________________________________________ I'm not sure how you got ''more'' base don facts.

Don’t be surprised if this former panther becomes available
SetfreexX replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
The money says otherwise. As a former 2nd rounder go get your PAYDAY wherever it is. He'd be an excellent fit here, people forget how well he played in 2020, had 1,000 rushing / receiving. -
We were a top defensive unit, you're going to wear a defense out when the starting QB has 9 passing touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in the games he's played. The offense did the defense NO favors, complimentary football did not exist.
