  1. I think only $8-10 million instead of all $23. Maybe I’m wrong. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/teddy-bridgewater-14441/
  2. Why? Just cut him and let him find another tram. I think if he’s cut at a certain point of the offseason he’d be an $8 million cap hit instead of $23 million.
  3. A trade up to #2 (which is what I will take for Wilson) is going to require basically that exact trade scenario...except we are also still stuck with massive cap hits from both Shaq and CMC. Which means we will have a rookie QB who isn’t ready to “win now” on a team with multiple “win now” contracts bogging things down. So if you’re willing to make a deal to get a rookie and want to keep a cap burden but not willing to make a deal to get Watson and unload some cap burden then you need to rethink your philosophy. These scenarios involving Shaq and CMC is literally the reason that everyone hates Hurney. He was half in and half out in every aspect of the roster. Willy nilly signings to see what sticks and never having an ability to see into the future for situations. He was a total buffoon. SO...if you want to take something that Marty Hurney MASSIVELY screwed up on the way out the door. Then turn some of your biggest assets under contract into cap room and a starting QB. Whether the Texans want to make that deal is going to depend heavily on how much they value our picks and having a guy like CMC to energize their fanbase. Their owner could very well say “I can’t gut the team without adding a big name”....CMC is the biggest name they’re going to get and he’s a stabilizer for a rookie on a team with zero expectations.
  4. Then Watson imo is not tradeable. That’s a massive deal with a ton of incentives. The Jets for example probably aren’t giving up Darnold, #2, multiple other first and second round picks AND someone like Marcus Maye. Their roster is terrible. So if they give up all of their draft assets AND Maye then they basically have Watson with a garbage team and no ability to build. Imo the above offer beats anything the 49ers could offer. IDT they want to trade Watson in the division to the Colts and they’d probably rather trade him to the NFC than to the Broncos in the AFC (who could probably match our offer).
  5. They have multiple first round picks....draft. a DE who will be cheaper for longer than Burns. If they get offered that deal then they’d be dumb to turn it down. Basically 3 tries to draft a QB to replace Watson and a DE to replace Watt....PLUS CMC and Shaq.
  6. If the Texans said no to that then they’re just not gonna deal him. That’s four 1st round talents...one of which would immediately be the best player on the team. Draft your QB of the future...move on from Deshaun. We get the QB we need and improve our cap situation at the same time. It’s a win/win/win. Both side should absolutely do that deal.
  7. Why do you guys all assume that two young players means...”we aren’t making a deal unless you give us two 23 year old future pro bowlers on rookie deals.” They could just as easily be interested in Jackson who could fit scheme. Maybe they liked Gross Matos in the draft? Who knows...
  8. They just nuked Watson’s hope of getting traded. Idt anyone is trading 4-5 years worth of 1st round picks for one player. Maybe I’m wrong but that seems like it’s the price tag and I don’t think anyone can afford that. The Rams don’t have picks for years...but they’re in win now mode. I can’t think of a team in the Watson picture who would be in that mode. Maybe you could make the argument for the Panthers and Saints if they added him. But that’s a stretch.
  9. Can someone humor me as to why Joe Burrow is the #1 pick and Mac Jones isn’t worth a day 2 pick? I get that he was throwing to Waddle and Smith. Burrow was throwing to Chase and had Edward-Helaire. They both have what looks like average athleticism. They both have good but not great arms. I remember the knock on Burrow was he couldn’t drive the ball downfield. So...if the draft falls in a certain way with a ton of QBs at the top and we get Parsons, Sewell, or maybe Chase/Smith in the first round then why would we not be happy with adding Jones in the second?
  10. Agreed. This is going to be the biggest deal in NFL history. Which is why I’m not sure I can see the Texans giving him up without a proven asset like Burns or CMC.
  11. Yes. Keep CMC, Shaq, DJ, Burns, Chinn and Brown...and add Watson to that? I don’t care about the first round picks if we have those 7 guys on our team. At that point it’s up to Fitterer to do what he was brought in to do....find mid round talent.
  12. The price isn’t going to be three firsts AND a young, cheap superstar. The deal I could see happening is: McCaffery, TB, #8, 2022 1st, 2022 2nd. If that is the deal it honestly isn’t that bad. You trade CMC which hurts but his cap is significant for his position. That nets the Texans a transitional QB, an MVP candidate and multiple 1st round picks. It nets us...a top 5 QB and probably MORE cap flexibility than what we would have if we kept those two guys.
  13. I think that a lot of fans don’t necessarily WANT to offer what will beat out those teams bc it’s risky. But neither of those teams imo have two players as valuable as Burns and CMC. Burns is an elite rusher on a cheap deal. CMC is a potential MVP of the league... If the Panthers want Watson they’ll get him. They just also may have to include one of those two players. BUT...this is where Fitterer comes in. If he’s really as gifted at finding mid round talent as everyone says he should be able to replace a RB or DE. He’s not going to find a “Watson” in those rounds tho.
  14. Trade for Stafford (2022 picks and TB) Draft Parsons or Sewell Draft Newman or Jones as a developmental QB (one of them will be there). That’s what I am hoping for.
  15. Why could you not get Stafford for win now and use a 1st or 2nd round draft pick on a QB to develop? Developing talent doesn’t mean you have to suck while you do it. You just have to do it intelligently...
  16. There is zero chance that the Qb chatter is smokescreen. TB has started his last game for CAR unless it’s a rookie they’re trying to bring along slowly.
  17. If they would do this then I think that’s a pretty good deal. I also think they’d be hard pressed to find a better deal. I would value Shaq higher than a mid-late 1st round pick.
  18. You wouldn’t give up a 1st year defender toward the end of the first round to be able to pair a 4000 yard passer with 5 good years left and CMC? You can’t just look at the black and white of “1st round pick for 32 yo QB.” You have to look at....we have a stud RB and very good skill players for the next 3-4 years. Then that’s it. How do we capitalize on that now. We made our bed with CMC. He’s the cornerstone unless someone is trading for him. He has probably a 3-4 year prime window. If you don’t do everything possible to either trade him (in a deal for Watson for instance) or build around him....then it’s just wasted cap room.
  19. It would be interesting to hear his reason for keeping Hurney and Rivera too long. He doesn’t strike me as someone who is scared to take a big leap (like immediately firing and hiring a coach/GM combo). Which means he either mismanaged the situation or kept them longer intentionally to learn the process before making the leap.
  20. To me this means that the front office is trying to make a move and it’s going to be on HOU to say no.....I don’t think many people have said no to Tepper recently.
  21. I don’t know how you go from TBs contract to Stafford’s contract unless you trade TB....and I’m not sure the Lions are doing that without some other significant compensation. Which crosses Stafford off the list for me. If we’re talking a TB/Stafford swap and maybe including a 3rd day pick to the Lions then I’d be down for that. But nothing significant.
  22. A trade up for Micah Parsons has to be inevitable with the RR/Hurney duo right?
  23. Definitely seems like there are at least 10 elite non-QB players who have a good chance to go ahead of Fields, Wilson, and Lance
  24. There are 5 teams imo that realistically could/would trade for Watson: Panthers, Dolphins, Niners, Jets, Falcons. Two of those teams are in the AFC. If you’re the Texans do you really want to trade Deshaun to an AFC team only to be run out of potential contention by Mahomes and Watson every year? Not to mention the Jags if they capitalize on Lawrence? It would make more sense to me to trade to the NFC...and the best long term building ability imo comes from the Panthers with Bridgewaters contract that comes off the books in 2022, #8, CMC and future picks. Falcons and Niners imo can’t beat that offer. Matt Ryan is expensive hot garbage until 2024. Garoppolo is less expensive hot garbage until 2023 but they have less to offer in the way of other compensation (picks, players etc).
  25. Forward this to Deshaun so he can veto the advances by the Jets.
