  1. The only way I’m taking a linebacker in the first round is if it’s a pick in the 20s and we already have our positions with the most value locked up. And even then I’d still be hesitant unless some freak of nature drops in a draft. this franchise has been obsessed with rbs and linebackers and it shows by our insane historical inconsistencies. And stop giving those two positions second contracts. The positional value is just not there. Build this team the proper way please.
  2. Yeah they are not in a good cap situation and I’m sure the dead cap hit would be RIDICULOUS since he just signed that deal. But if you’re trading away your franchise qb you’re in rebuilding mode. So you basically just wipe this next season away and cut everything you possibly can and get your cap in order for the future while you build through the draft/plus any rookie contract players you acquire.
  3. Lots of Texans fans think if he doesn’t get traded he’s gonna sit except the last 6 games of the year to accrue a season.
  4. It depends. There is a balance of how far you’re willing to go. And I hope we have that line. As far as first rounders I don’t really care if it’s 3/4. When you start talking young defensive players like Burns, Chinn or brown there needs to be a line that we don’t cross.
  5. Yeah I mentioned that in my other post. And he’s more than good. He’s a top 5 qb with the potential to be the very best in the league. Deshaun also has that clutch gene.
  6. Also deshaun might be vying for best qb in the entire league year in and year out with Patrick Mahomes in the not so distant future. That’s why people are so hyped about acquiring him. Watch his games, he is on the precipice of being the best in the league and he’s 25 fuging years old. I get why it’s so tempting.
  7. No way the panthers just put this out. You don’t do that when you’re trying to make a deal. and deshaun could block this trade. He’s already said he won’t go to a team that mortgages their future to get him because that’ll leave him in the same situation he’s been in on the Texans. I honestly think he’s either going to sit out the season, or go for less than what people think because deshaun WILL have a say in this trade. He has some power. Let’s say he accepts that trade of Burns/Chinn and 3/4 first round picks. You just hope to rebuild with 2nd-7th round players around him for the next 3/4 years. No doubt we would SUCK epically this upcoming year. like I said before this will either go down as the best thing that’s ever happened to this franchise or the absolute worst. If these reports are true, Tepper is putting all his chips on the table and this has the capacity to turn this franchise into the worst run in the entire league or he looks insanely brilliant and Matt and co. coach up non blue chip prospects for half a decade. There doesn’t seem to be any in between here. It’s an insanely risky move.
  8. He’s not gonna come here but his trade may have implications on Watson/the draft. Also it’s fun to talk about scenarios.
  9. Also now that I think about it after their first round loss in the playoffs Carrol acted kind of more sad/heartbroken then what you’d expect. He may have known this was the last year to try to win it all with the group they have. The jamaal trade was a huge move to make. They went all in.
  10. That makes sense. I have no idea about that team right now but they are not scared of big moves.
  11. Why the fug would the Seahawks wanna trade him though? Has their relationship soured THAT much? He’s 32 and still has at the very least 2-3 more good years. It doesn’t really make sense since they don’t have anybody waiting in the wings to replace him.
  12. I’d rather have Watson but I can’t act like I’d be mad if we traded for RW when we have a terrible QB situation right now.
  13. And the Herschel walker trade that everyone likes to bring up is totally different then this. 1. Herschel didn’t want to go to Minnesota. He was actually angry about it. And it showed with his play. He loved Dallas and playing for the cowboys. He told jerry Jones only way he would go is if he got him some stuff from a list he made; free house, free Mercedes Benz and a large exit bonus. Jerry called his bluff and paid it. 2. Herschel was 27 years old which is prime running back falling off the cliff phase. 3. And even if Herschel was one of those rb rarities, he didn’t fit the Vikings scheme at the time. And that was probably the biggest thing. contrast that with Watson being 25 years old, having a no trade clause, could decline if he didn’t want to come here and Joe Brady’s offense would fit perfectly with what deshaun can do.
  14. Has there ever been an mvp level franchise qb 25 and under traded going into their prime? No, unless I’m forgetting someone. Only qb I can remember close to this is jay cutler from Denver to Chicago and Watson is ten times the qb cutler was. cutlers last year in Denver he threw for 4500 yards 25 tds to 18 int 200 yards and 2 tds rushing for 4700 yards 27 total tds to 18 picks. Watsons’ supposed last year with Houston he threw for 4800 yards 33 tds and 7 int 444 yards and 3 tds rushing. That’s over 5k yards and 36 tds to 7 int. That’s just stats. Watson brings intangibles that Cutler never had. There has never been a history of this to look back to at the most important position on the football field. These types of trades never ever happen.
  15. I’d love for Jameis to come here
  16. That’s the opposite of what I’m saying. your position is an easy one to take. Because it’s highly unlikely we get him because of the nature of this trade. Has nothing to do with whatever you were saying about him NOT wanting to come here because of Cam.
  17. Come on man. also it’s very easy to say he won’t be traded here because the very nature of this trade is extremely unlikely. Signs point to us wanting to be aggressive to acquire him and that he wouldn’t use his no trade clause because he doesn’t want to be here. the end.
  18. Dude won the media good guy award in fuging Boston of all places this past year. He was beloved in the panthers locker room and the Patriots locker room. If he doesn’t get a chance to compete for a starting job with a team something is seriously wrong.
  19. Ouch. Well if we did that I’d go all in on a rebuild this year. Start cutting and trading players for resources based on positional value. Take the dead cap hits this year and start building through the draft. Or package something for deshaun. We’d still probably suck this year but 2022 would look good.
  20. Yeah if we could get two firsts for him I’d do it. Also can’t we split up the dead cap hit over the remainder of his contract? Thought I read on here it’d be something like 4.5 dead cap per year for 4 years or something like that.
  21. This is a poorly run franchise. Hopefully it was mostly Marty and we get a fresh start with more good football decisions than bad from here on out.
