  1. Getting the HC correct is most important. We've all seen how much having a bad coach brings down every aspect of the team, so conversely, the opposite must be true as well. A great QB prospect can be destroyed by the wrong HC or a system built around them that doesn't fit their natural abilities.
  2. I always have about 15 feet of the stuff wrapped around a pencil in every first aid kit along with 2 rolls of HQ electrical tape. Electrical tape makes a pretty fast and effective tourniquet in emergency situations on the job or just as a more flexible and durable bandaid.
  3. Exactly. If XYZ Qb doesn't have the traits necessary to make a successful NFL QB according to your staff and evaluation, take the most impactful player you can or trade back if someone offers you the farm. But that strategy is based on your head guys knowing their poo and well, it's yet to be determined if ours do.
  4. Tepper can only hope so he can use that cash to pay some of his Rock Hill debt.
  5. He was bidding against himself with no leverage. Rhule had already played the hand by getting T2G out the door. The Jets didn't have to trade him. They could have just as easily sat on him. Either we trade for Darnold or.... who else were we going to get? Was it an overpay? Yeah. But as we've all seen, Rhule put everyone in position to look worse, and that included Fitts. The 5th year was fuggin stupid.
  6. Best pick gives you the best opportunity to get it right. You get to choose who you want from the most opportunities instead of choosing leftovers. I'd rather play shoulda, woulda, could having got it wrong but at least having the shot to get it right.
  7. It's so close I don't really try to differentiate much. If he can stay healthy, I think Mahomes will eventually be in the conversation, possibly Allen.
  8. They were willing to give up 2 firsts and a 2nd for a couple of reasons. 1. They need to win now. Staffords elbow is on borrowed time and Donald is contemplating retirement. Kupp is MVP caliber and their best opportunity is now. 2. Burns is talented, but if McVay thinks he is the missing piece for a 3 year championship run, those picks are late 1st vs early 1st and have much different value. If he's wrong and they become top 10 picks, it's a much different scenario and McVay could be moving on. It's a gamble either way. Fitts doesn't have the luxury of gambling right now and that's because of Tepper. He botched this whole GM/coach hiring and firing process. Fitts is under tremendous pressure not to screw up further the already screwed up situation keeping Rhule an extra 5 games caused.
  9. How many times are they going to keep running that play to Shenault?
  10. Shenault's gonna end up with a 1000 yards in this game. In motion anyway.
  11. People can also be very different in their work environment than they are in real life.
  12. If Brian Burns was Julius Peppers, LT, Aaron Donald, I'd say that the offer wasn't enough. He's good. He's Pro Bowl. He's not single handedly wrecking an entire offense. You have to look at the big picture over the next 3 years. A high teens 2nd this year, a likely 10-20 pick, possibly higher, the next 2, $30m per year in cap space to sign other players or a pro bowl DE/LB depending on scheme. I think you have to look beyond Burns and evaluate the best way to build the team moving forward. Fitts should have pulled the trigger.
  13. I'm still not sure how much Tepper is involved in decisions. We've seen him force his will for Watson on the FO, and how that turned out. Fitts has said he speaks with Tepper about things, which one could expect. My only concern is how much influence is Tepper exerting over personnel decisions. Ultimately, Fitts will take the fall when things go wrong. I think over the next few years we'll find out how much he really is involved and then be able to look back objectively at some of these moves. I have to admit I'm not a fan of the Burns non trade.
  14. Bot has a perfect troll rating vs the Huddle.
  15. It wasn't that we didn't like it when we did it to Ickey. It was the stupid camp competition. Either put him there or don't. But wasting time doing pointless battles doesn't help anyone when our oline had been a plug and play of rejects from other teams.
  16. Russ would take off, but they didn't really design a lot of plays designated for him to run. Not saying there weren't any, just not near to the extent we did with Cam. They were very focused on keeping him from taking RB type contact repeatedly.
  17. Exactly. They've sold themselves out so much to win now, they're going to crash. You have to be able to build through the draft. Anyone that thinks they're going to build a continual winner out of UDFAs, no matter how good McVay is, is fooling themselves.
  18. That didn't include trading DJ. That was Burns only with the picks acquired for CmC.
  19. You could pretty much have your choice of coaches with a setup like that to let them draft "their guys". The Panthers just need to do a huddle poll if they want the right answers.
