The Bucs won't rest starters, will play to win
SmokinwithWilly replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm rooting for a new NFL record for points against. Maybe that will be embarrassing enough to get Rhule a pink slip. -
Rizzuti calling out Rhule on double standard
SmokinwithWilly replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Here was my thought when we brought in Darnold. After talking with him, and discussing how he goes through his pre snap reads, snap, progressions, etc, that there was something there that the coaches thought they could teach him that could change and help him grow as a QB and make things easier. Sometimes it's all in how you see something. That was my hope. What happened when we brought him here was much different. We threw him to the wolves with no improvement on the oline, an offense that actually plays to his weaknesses, and virtually no shot to get better. And this is what we got. It's no surprise he sucks. He just happens to be Rhule's guy so he's going to cover for him. Cam wasn't so he doesn't give a poo. -
It made some sense theoretically. If Darnold could be salvaged a 2nd, 4th and 6th would have been a steal. But that would have required a coach that didn't make Adam Gase look like a QB whisperer. Unfortunately we don't have that.

Meet your 2022 first round pick, George Karlaftis
SmokinwithWilly replied to AU-panther's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Makes perfect sense. Offense can't score a touchdown so the best thing to do is go defense to hold your opponent to 0. It'll work. 1000% -
I'd like Linderbaum but not at the expense of a franchise LT. If a franchise LT that passes all the checklists is there, you have to take him. The positional value is just too great not to. I've had a chance to watch more of Linderbaum than the tackles from this year so far, and obviously no combine yet. I pay more attention to footwork than anything else. Balance is everything, especially for the big guys. Footwork can tell you a whole lot. That's how I could tell right away at the combine Little was going to be a bust. His footwork was atrocious.

I want Linderbaum at center. We all saw the value of a solid center for years in Kalil and BC has looked serviceable at LT. Unfortunately, if Rhule stays as HC, we will trade down, aquire some 2nds and 3rds, end up with a middle round guard and some UDFA from Baylor or Temple or someone he scouted as a walk on and that will be our 2022 offensive line.

Ellis Williams (Observer) offense analysis
SmokinwithWilly replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
And that's the part that sucks because if we had a coach with any common sense, we would have seen Brady at LT for at least half the season and we would know whether or not he should be playing there or be shifted inside. It's week 18, he's started 2 weeks and been our best LT of the season by far and we still have a huge question mark on how to proceed this offseason. If we take Neal or Cross, then we don't pick again until the 4th. More holes we cant possibly fill and BC is forced to learn a new position which isn't going to be easy. And Deonte Brown might actually be good, he sure as hell cant be worse than Miller, but we're going to use him on special teams, maybe. Why do we make poo harder than it has to be? -
For me, it should only really be looked at in backup linemen. Swing tackles. G/C combos. Positions were you need to have guys that can play multiple places ok enough to get you through a game or two at most.

He'd use analytics to build the entire roster based on versatility and then watch as the entire team imploded. At some point you have to forget the numbers and actually get athletes to play the game at their positions.

He's already lost me. I've seen enough of Rhule's incompetence. One more year will set this franchise back 4 to 5 years. I have more faith in Marty Hurney's gut than I do in Rhule's ability to build an offensive line or any type of offense. We have a coach that's more interested in a player's measurements than his actual abilities and there is no compensating for that. As long as Rhule is here, this franchise is taking the fast train right off a cliff.

Denote had a bowel movement this morning that resembled Starry Night. We are currently attempting to discover the origin of this masterpiece and as such will not be dressing Deonte today. However, if you would like to purchase said movement on its original porcelain canvas, it will be up for auction later today.

The Bucs won't rest starters, will play to win
SmokinwithWilly replied to LinvilleGorge's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope they use us as a tune up game before the playoffs. I'd settle for an NFL record for points against. I know no member of the current roster really would want to be a part of that, but it might be the only way for them not to have to endure 17 more games of embarrassment next year. -
I'm not pissed because I think BC is the answer at LT. I'm pissed because we've only seen him 2 games so this year and it's pretty obvious he should have been starting a long time ago. We should have seen Brown by now too, but it's the same story, different position. We have to address the oline. I just don't trust Rhule to do it. I feel like we need to trade down unless a stud LT is available, and even then, I'd possibly consider moving down a few spots, but only to pick up Linderbaum and possibly a couple extra picks in the 2nd and 3rd to grab some guards. And even that is going to depend a lot on the combine and who is available and where they are projected to go. We need to focus on our line first and foremost.

Shocking passing statistics for the 2021 Panthers.
SmokinwithWilly replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
This has all been a part of Rhule's master plan. Tank the entire season so DJ would be forced to sign a cheaper contract. It's all been part of the plan, we just can't see it. -
Panthers have to “make a true investment” in the OL
SmokinwithWilly replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
The sad part is we've already made an investment in our Oline. Erving and Elfien aren't worth what we paid. Miller and Jordan wouldn't be on a roster anywhere else. Paradis was hot garbage. We spent a 3rd and a 6th on a LT and a RG and have no idea if either can play, though it looks like both are better than anything we've fielded this year. Right now we should know if BC is a LT. We don't because his arms are an inch too short. Well Slater's arms are a little too short but he's a stud LT as a rookie. Brown, who knows what he can do. But it sure as hell can't be worse than Miller. These guys needed to play this year so we know what we have going into the offseason. Currently we need 4 positions on the line with 1 draft pick in the 1st 3 rounds and we have 2 guys we have no idea what if they can fill a spot or not. Rhule is living in a fantasy world. Make a true investment in this franchise. Kick his fugging ass to the curb. -
Is this catastrophic? This sounds catastrophic.

This is part of the vision. We just don't see it yet. -
