  1. Why would a team draft a QB in the first round when they are convinced that the QB they have now is their franchise QB? That was why Cam was never given competition. He proved to the Panthers FO at the time he was the guy. My argument and many on here have said is that if believe you have your franchise QB then you build around him. However, if you do not believe you do then you keep looking. If the Panthers FO doesn’t believe that Sam Darnold is our franchise QB and think a QB who falls to #8 is then they should select him. It doesn’t’ matter if that guy is Fields, Lance, Jones, or some guy we haven’t heard of. The only reason Fields is being brought up is simple because of all the rumors he could fall and the Panthers potentially valuing him as a franchise QB. If they think Sam Darnold can be the guy then they should and will build around him by selecting a non-QB. This isn’t splitting atoms.
  2. Hard to consider a man entering his 4th year a rookie. Maybe in another four years he will be entering his sophomore season.
  3. Like I said this is the NFL. If you are waiting for someone roll out the red carpet to get your shot for then I have some bad news. The fact that Darnold is currently on the Panthers roster is giving him the chance to prove himself. Also, Cam did compete for his spot every season and he proved all the way up to the moment he was released he was the best QB the Panthers can get. Your issue seems to be of the perceived unfairness of the NFL. Ye, I would agree the NFL is unfair but it is what it is. I would even extend that to life in general. Everyone feels the short end of the stick at one point. I don’t know why Darnold all of a sudden needs to be accommodated and given a pity party. I know I’m going to sound corny when saying this but “if he dies, he dies”.
  4. I get that Darnold is still a young man in the league but he is also entering his 4th year! Not taking Fields if he falls to #8 should not be because we want to shield Darnold from competition. The only reason we should pass on Fields if he is there is if we do not think Fields can be our guy or if we have a strong belief in Darnold to be our guy. The idea that Darnold “deserves” anything is ridiculous. This is the NFL. Competition is the business these guys have signed up for. If Darnold becomes our QB of the future it is because he has shown he deserves to be.
  5. The trade for Darnold was just to give us flexibility entering the draft. So no matter how the draft falls the Panthers are in a good position to either select BPA, trade down for more picks, or maybe even select a QB we believe can be our guy if he falls to #8. Also those picks we gave up was nothing. In the NFL if you do no believe you have a franchise QB and you are not actively looking for one then you are doing something wrong. The cardinals are good example of this.
  6. I know I’m reaching but if it’s the Pats I wouldn’t take any less than their 2022 and 2023 first round picks in the package.
  7. I only want to do a trade with the Washington Football Team.
  8. Yet we gave him no Oline and no WRs.....
  9. Hated the Cam pick to death didn’t even watch the rest of the draft. I hope to be as wrong for all drafts.
  10. I see where you are coming from and a couple years ago I would agree but not anymore. If you don't have a franchise QB and you aren't actively looking for one then you're doing something wrong. Just look at the Cardinals. Our incompetence started by paying Teddy and arguably not going after Herbert. The sour taste in my mouth has never left and it came way before signing Darnold.
  11. Steve Smith Sr. has us taking Slater at #8.
  12. Lawrence, Wilson, and Fields go in the top 3.
  13. I get that some folks think this is just another Teddy 2.0 but I don’t know why people feel the need to be complete spoil sports and trash anyone who has a bit of optimism. Why not just go with the wait and see approach? This is the offseason. The only time of the year you can and should be as optimistic as possible.
  14. I’m of the same opinion. There are some really talented Gus this year in positions of need and would really only be tempted to move back for a high price.
  15. With all the whispers about the Panthers trading down I’m curious what you all would do in such a scenario if a top blue chip prospect like a Fields fell to 8 and a team like the Pats, Broncos, or some other team wanted to move up with the offer of their 1st round pick next year. Would you guys rather stay put and select or trade out and get another teams 1st next year?
  16. As long as we don't pass on a top QB we believe in(except Mac Jones)or another blue chip prospect im cool.
  17. Panthers hardly gave much to acquire him in the first place so I don’t know why you feel they would be committed to building around Darnold anymore than Teddy this time last year. The trade for Darnold was purely to give us more flexibility heading in the draft. Whatever extra we get is just gravy.
  18. If Fields is there go for it. Lance depends on how the rest of the board looks.
