  1. Fitt/Reich at practice today with 55 players…
  2. Everyone is taking JT’s summaries as gospel, but I disagree with him on multiple plays in this film. I typically love his breakdowns though. Play #2: He goes in on Theilen throttling down when it was the right call for the situation. AT throttled down just before coming into Young’s vision against zone coverage. He throttled so he wouldn’t run into the CB along the sideline. If he kept running full speed, there’s potential for a big hit as he makes the catch that could jeopardize the completion. Play #6: He wants Bryce to stick with the reads and find the in route to #83. He fails to mention there was a DLman in his grill when he hit the check down. He didn’t have time for the in route to develop, especially with a LB playing it underneath. Play #8: The miss from Bryce down the sideline. I don’t disagree with JT’s analysis of the play, but he fails to mention the DB is in phase with the targeted WR until the ball is released. It looks like a bad miss after the DB bites on the drag route, but the ball was already thrown at that point making it a “throw it where only your guy can catch it” pass. Still a miss, but not as bad as it seemed at first glance. On the completion to Theilen when he fell going out of bounds: JT trashes Theilen for the fall, but >95% of WRs are going out of bounds on that play. He caught the ball halfway between the numbers and the sideline in a full sprint. That leaves no room to turn and go. Only option is to decelerate, then go which wasn’t available due to the trailing DB. I love JT’s breakdowns and trust his opinions on QB play. But Theilen knows far more about playing WR than JT knows about playing QB. It came across like Theilen had stole his girl at some point in life. Yes, Theilen isn’t a burner and he had a drop in the game. He also had 4 catches for 48 yards and a TD in ~one quarter of play. Theilen has never had breakaway speed, but that didn’t stop him from becoming a top tier WR. Also, Bryce is a stud.
  3. #Tank4Williams or #Tank4Maye I really hope neither end up in the NFCS. Especially Drake.
  4. We have him under contract for 3 more years at ~1mil per to see if he can improve his diagnostic skills. He's 22 years old and extremely athletic for his position. I think that 1mil per year would be well spent developing him for the future. He has flashed in spurts already, imo.
  5. There is no need to cut Brandon Smith at this time. I see him progressing to be Shaq's replacement in 2025. He'll play more in 2024 and then get a chance to be the guy in his contract year.
  6. That’s hilarious. I see how that could happen though especially if a QB is learning a new system. My son is 9 and playing QB on his rec team. He’s had a few of those moments in practices. Haha ”Flip Double Blue Right, Fake X Jet, Ruby 20 Zone” is a mouthful for a kid that age.
  7. Watch it…my wife is from Bertie Co. lol
  8. The first night of the draft was the most disappointing to you? We drafted Bryce Young #1 overall. Flowers went 1.22.
  9. Good post. I’ve definitely seen flashes from Ray and Williams.
  10. No injuries Shenault get some carries and look promising Better play from OL, especially RG
  11. Agree with those against releasing Corral. He costs us just over a mil per year in cap space for 2023-2025. As long as he’s a good locker room guy, we should keep him on the roster for now.
  12. I’m not watching, but stat line says 7/13 for 93 yards 1 TD/0 INT. Doesn’t seem that bad.
  13. No beef. You just chose the wrong one back then. Its alright
  14. Man, as long as I heard people whine about Young’s height and how he must have chugged gallons of water and wore lead drawers at the combine, you best believe they’re going to hear about it when their choice struggles as much as Stroud did last night. What’s more healthy as a football fan than feeling like your franchise made the right choice at the most important position, and it was one you supported from the beginning? What’s unhealthy is there are Panthers fans on this forum who will treat Young, our own QB, worse than Stroud if he has a similar game due to their draft preference. He’s our guy now. I respect those who have already switched into support mode for our guy despite wanting Stroud initially. The others are going to hear from me.
  15. I don’t view it as a vendetta. It’s more similar to bragging rights when your team beats another. I just want the losing side to take their L as they should and don’t go quietly into the night. I guess I should have included it, but that’s obviously based on projection from where they both are currently. Everyone on our staff and team is raving about Young and where he is as a rookie. He’ll still have rough games.
  16. A few thoughts reading through this thread… -we picked the right QB. -glad to see Holton Ahlers have some success, but he should try switching to TE/FB or prepare to be a QB in Canada. -much like I consider Russell Wilson from Wisconsin bc that’s where he was drafted from and finished, I view Hurts from Oklahoma. I can see why the first schools would claim them, but they left and that shouldn’t be ignored. -I know it’s early in their careers, but will the posters who were adamant we should take CJ over Bryce ever be able to admit their error?
  17. I think our tackles are set with Ekwonu & Moton for the next two years minimum. Take a shot in the 2024 draft (3rd rd or so) on a raw but projectable RT who can learn under Moton. While I agree it’s never too early to think about it, I see no need to make a move this coming off-season with any of our starters. Let Bryce learn how to win with the steady line we have locked up through 2024. This opinion will obviously change if their play regresses this season, but we’re in good shape on the OL. Continue to build through the draft and let the young guys learn under our vets and great OL coach.
  18. I’ve been posting about Shenault’s YAC/R for a long time now and how he should get a look at RB based on those numbers and his build. I’m excited to see what comes of it.
  19. Agree with you re: QBs and baseball. Playing PG can help too. Especially when throwing to TEs or RBs slipping out of the backfield.
  20. When given opportunities two years ago, he proved to be a playmaker. All he needed was more opportunities. He made the Reddick decision more palatable.
  21. Yea, this board should allow no slander of Shaq after seeing those quotes (except for a 5 minute period following a missed tackle).
  22. It’s not worrisome even if he’s not. 5mil is nothing and worth the risk.
  23. Exactly my thought while I was reading the OP. 9-8 will likely win the NFCS
