Reich/Fitterer noon press conference
WUnderhill replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
As a fan of a team that has gone into various seasons with the following starters: Nate Chandler, Sione Fua, Cam Erving, Haruki Nakamura, Brenton Bersin, Byron Bell, Robbie Anderson, Ian Thomas, Edmund Kugbila, Matt Paradis, Matt Kalil, Dwayne Jarrett, Keary Colbert, Kealoha Pihlares, good lord the list goes on… You’ve gotta be happy with what these guys have done. We may not have a Cam Newton, Luke Kuechly, Steve Smith, Julius Peppers type (yet), but dammit if I don’t feel better about this roster top to bottom than I have in a long time. There are some weaknesses, but certainly nothing as glaring as going into a season with Byron Bell and Nate Chandler starting on your offensive line. -
We didn’t sign prime Jerry Rice for vet min? #notimpressed

According to the draft simulators I’ve been running, Houston will give us pick 2, 12, 33, and a 2024 1st to move up to 1. The Panthers will then trade them back pick 2 and a 5th rd pick to move back to 1, then trade back down to 3 with the Cardinals to pick up more second and third round picks and recoup the 5th rd pick.

Marc Ryan - "Carolina Zeroed in on Stroud and Richardson"
WUnderhill replied to CPcavedweller's topic in Carolina Panthers
I spoke to an NFL source recently who told me Carolina is far more zeroed in on Tanner McKee than CJ Stroud and Anthony Richardson. So what if he’s a ball boy for the Browns. A source is a source! -
MJ in talks to sell majority stake of Hornets
WUnderhill replied to carpanfan96's topic in Charlotte Hornets
They may not have won any championships, but I’ll take their team over literally anything we’ve had the past 20 years. -
Oh boy, I remember some folks around here hyping up Joe Adams. And just laughable how long Brenton Bersin was on our active roster. Also missing Legedoodoo Nanee I think 2011 or 2012.

You literally said “Flame on.” What did you expect? Also, nobody was really even flaming but you got bent out of shape real quick I don’t even know why. The first person to call somebody a moron was, in fact, you. You started this thread defensive and just gone down hill from there.

Big Board & Pick 39: Offensive Skill Player Rankings
WUnderhill replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Either Downs or Hyatt should be there at our 2nd rd pick, and I think you have to take one if so. The drop off in WR is just too great between those guys and whatever would be available by the time our 3rd rd pick comes around. That frees us up to draft bpa at LB, DL, OL, CB, and RB depth the rest of the draft. -
Having coaches that can actually scheme a WR open should help. We don’t necessarily need a guy that demands double coverage and breaks defenses, as long as we have guys that can run the routes, coaches that can scheme them open, and a QB that can put the ball where it needs to be.

Jalen Carter Officially a Walking Red Flag
WUnderhill replied to WUnderhill's topic in Carolina Panthers
Downplaying it quite a bit. Exercise is a stress reliever. This at the very least tells me he does not deal with stress in a healthy way. We drafted another guy who ate his stress. Kelvin Benjamin got away with it for a couple years but it eventually caught up to him. Coming into training camp fat and out of shape every year only works for so long. Carter might have a couple good years on talent alone, but I would be seriously concerned with the long term. -
Yeah it’s just honestly stupid for him to not have an agent. Agents make athletes money and earn more than the commission they receive in return. It was agents who brokered the first branding deals for athletes, the speaking gigs, and whatever other income streams. I’m sure there are some bad ones like every profession, but I’m sure Lamar knows good ones. It’s like seeing somebody represent themselves in court without hiring an attorney, or sell a million dollar house for sale by owner. You aren’t frugal or smart, you’re just arrogant and stupid.

Jalen Carter Officially a Walking Red Flag
WUnderhill replied to WUnderhill's topic in Carolina Panthers
Idk, would you take post-Tennessee Albert Haynesworth? The guy can’t even motivate himself to stay in shape for a few weeks to try to salvage what he can of his draft position. He hasn’t even gotten a contract yet. That’s pretty bad. -
His involvement in the fatal car crash aside, reports out of his pro day are that he has gained 9 lbs since the combine and was unable to finish the drills due to being out of shape. And that’s only position drills since he opted not to run the 40, do cone drills, or benches at his pro day. Big yikes. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35865573/georgia-dt-jalen-carter-9-lbs-heavier-struggles-pro-day

Lol I just tuned in for a couple minutes and he’s calling out all these fake news “reporters”. Said of Schefter and Russini (sp?) “lose my number”. Lol, hilarious.

He had nearly as many yds as DJ Moore last year playing half as many games and with Colt McCoy and Trace McSorley throwing him the ball. Also more catches on significantly less targets.

2 losses? Stop coddling him. Undefeated or fired. -
Nice. He was definitely not worth that.

2023 QB Draft Class has 2018 Draft Vibes
WUnderhill replied to XClown1986's topic in Carolina Panthers
Comparing QBs like this is really missing the mark. It’s like if you said before the Cam Newton draft that since Jamarcus Russell was also drafted 1 and had a similar physical profile that they were similar prospects. Baker Mayfield, despite going #1, was not nearly the QB prospect that Bryce Young is. And that’s not a hindsight thing, that is based on pre draft. Not mock drafts or draft position, but actual grades. Likewise, grade-wise, there are some who had Josh Allen graded extremely high. Just for example, not saying he’s always right, but Mel Kiper had him as one of his top 10 rated QB prospects of all time (a list that also includes Ryan Leaf). -
Lol, pretending like that’s the only formula and that it takes some magical rare unicorn at backup QB. Just lol. I think you just like to find things to complain about. You’re really in here pounding the table on backup QB like it makes or breaks the team lol. For that matter, why are you still here? I’m genuinely confused. You’re so doom and gloom about the team I don’t really know why you’re here. Remember, we would have been better off with a college coaching staff and trading every first rd pick for 30 yr old QBs lol. Remember we have no leadership and nothing to build on and the best coaches in history would be fired from this team in 3 years. That’s what you said right? Sounds pretty hopeless, maybe you should take a break since we’re going to be so terrible for 3 more years and be right back here again with a new HC.

If our rook goes down with an injury, I’d rather start Corral and see what he’s got instead of some over the hill clipboard holder. I don’t really see the value of this magical vet QB some people are suddenly obsessed with.
