That was exactly my point. The Saints weren’t a suitor, so him signing immediately with the Saints was a bad thing for the Panthers. While Carr was available, the Bears risked losing suitors the longer they held onto the pick.
-
Ok you’re right nothing matters it’s all set in stone already and Bears GM mentioning Carr by name and talking about teams trying to get resolution on the trade because of the availability of him and other options means nothing
-
I mean yeah you have your max but you try not to spend it if you don’t have to. Carr signing with Saints gives Bears leverage to play hard ball because the threat of losing suitors as time goes on lessens.
-
Well that increases Bears leverage. Saints always find a way to fug us.

Ryan Poles trying to drive up the cost of the #1 pick
WUnderhill replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
This guy might turn into a “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” meme acting like that. It could work out, but he’s also risking scenarios where Carolina decides to sign Carr and Vegas gets Rogers and then all of a sudden the Colts don’t see much reason to try to move up because there isn’t anybody trying to get ahead of them anymore. As somebody who works in sales and negotiations, that’s some pretty dumb poo for him to say publicly. Emotions are involved and if you start making people think you’re price gouging them and being a little twerp, their pride gets involved. -
Why do people keep talking about last years mock drafts? It makes no sense. The 2 QB classes couldn’t be more apples and oranges. Also, where is this consensus of mocks from last year with all these t10 QBs? I remember it completely differently. What I remember is most people had at most 2 first rd grades on QBs, and many had no first rd grades. There were many who mocked QBs in the first rd just because of the belief that teams would draft a player just because they were one of the top couple QBs in an extremely weak class. This years class of QBs is completely different, so why do we keep getting comparisons to the worst QB class in modern memory? It comes off as pretty intellectually dishonest. Here’s the first result when I google searched “2022 nfl mock draft”. It’s Daniel Jeremiah and he has Pickett at 20 and Willis at 32 That’s it. https://www.nfl.com/_amp/daniel-jeremiah-2022-nfl-mock-draft-4-0-steelers-lions-select-qbs-cowboys-pick-w The top QBs aren’t falling to 9. Last year is completely irrelevant because those QBs couldn’t hold this classes water as prospects. Get over it already.

Joe Person gets way more poo than Sheena Quick.

If Akili Smith don’t give you pause I don’t know what will. AR had a 53% completion percentage in college. That is awful. I get the hope for the upside, but there’s some very serious concerns with him as a QB.
-
The combine done made you high lol.
-
Stop, Cam had a 66% completion percentage at Auburn, AR is 53%. I get the physical comparison, but we’re talking about QBs. AR is nowhere near the prospect Cam was as a passer.
-
I just hope if we move up to draft AR it has little to do with his combine performance. If the coaches and FO see somebody they can develop into an elite passer, then fine. The athleticism should be looked at only as a bonus. Given all the questions he has as a thrower of the football, he’s still 3rd/4th option for me at QB.

Per Matt Miller.. Panthers all in on Richardson?

Not sure where all the number 1 QB talk is coming from. He’s always been expected to have a good combine. I think it’s just media hype to get more eyes on the event. By draft it will settle back down. -

What’s the point? Are you suggesting he can’t put on any more weight? Again, I get the concern and laid out my reasons why it has become less of a concern for me personally. Never said he could carry 250 or something. -

He can put on weight. I think he said at the podium he was around 200 right now. But yeah I get it, and that’s why I was not sold on him at first. But man, whatever “it” is, he has it. And again, I’m less worried after watching more of him, because he is just absolutely elite in the pocket and he has that spidey sense for blindside pressure. So while I am worried about the hits that he will inevitably take, I am more confident in his ability to take less hits than any of the other guys, and less BIG hits. He’s not gonna get buried by an edge off the blindside like some of the other guys because he’s going to sense the pressure and find space in the pocket to step up, and he’s very good about staying tight and compact and presenting a small and slippery target for pressure up the middle. Keep a good oline in front of him like Brees had his whole career and the kid will cook. -

I’m torn on Richardson. He’s a less athletic, less developed, less accurate Cam. And I loved Cam. I just worry about having a guy who falls back on his arm strength and athleticism again (and why wouldn’t he). I want a QB for the next 15 yrs not the next 5-10 until injuries start piling up. Also, he needs A LOT of development, which we seem to have the coaching staff for, but will he ever be an elite processor or have elite pocket presence like Young? I’m pretty confident the answer to the latter is no. The more I watch, the more I’m on the Young train. The kid is special. And I was on the Stroud train before because of Young’s size. But Young’s pocket presence and awareness is so far beyond the rest of these guys it’s insane. I just don’t think he’ll take as many big hits because he manipulates the pocket and senses blind side pressure so well. So it’s like if you said QB A would get injured once every 10 hits and QB B would get injured once every 20 hits, but QB A takes half as many hits as QB B, they have the same likelihood of getting injured. If Young was 6’2 he would be considered one of the greatest QB prospects ever. If we can’t trade up for him, I’m fine with Richardson at 9, but I don’t think I’d want to trade up for Richardson. -

I know the greats carry chips on their shoulders…but come on. He can’t possibly think anybody thought we were better off without him. One of the main reasons I wanted to trade him was because I knew we would be WORSE without him and hopefully get better draft position to build for the future. Turns out we kind of did get better without him because the whole offense couldn’t lean on him anymore, but that’s far from his fault.
-
Sometimes guys just get ruined. As good as the coaching staff may be, I don’t think they can un-do 5 years of damage in one off-season.
-
Not good enough to win, not smart enough to lose, now Ball out for the rest of the season.
-
If we don’t get a QB then this rockstar coaching staff is not being utilized to its full potential. We have the guys in place to develop a franchise QB right now. If we wanted to lower the cost of drafting our QB, the time to do it was during last season. Trading Burns could have given us extra ammo. Going 5-3 to end the season did us no favors.
