I’ve always thought it was more a case of over correcting to a similarly bad practice on the other end of the spectrum. So because Tepper was a bonehead last time and fell in love with another bonehead, now he’s going to interview way too many people with way too many people involved, overthink it because he under thought it last time, and make another mistake. Hope I’m wrong or that we just luck into the right coach, but this whole process has reeked of over correction to me.

I thought Ryans turned us down.

I think you’re right regarding QB play because, like you said, it can’t get much worse. However, I think the rest of our roster is a bit overrated. Look how badly the Bucs got stomped in the playoffs, and we couldn’t take the division from them. We were probably a 3 or 4 win team in any other year.

I think we definitely need to move him now. If we end up with the #2 pick and take Scoot I just don’t see room for Terry as a starter anymore.

Listen, I think it’s dumb as hell that she is conducting interviews…but “she didn’t complete her inclusive hiring training” sounds like she didn’t do some brain dead online video from HR and take the little test at the end.

No way they get a pass for that awful draft day trade. I don’t care what happened after, you don’t trade the #13 pick for what you know is going to be a pick in the 20’s (right now looking like 29 or 30) and a bunch of seconds. And the reasoning behind it was mind numbingly stupid.

Go on record now before the hire is made Re: Sean Payton

Yeah, unfortunately this is my biggest long-term concern with Tepper as an owner. -

I don’t know why it would cause anybody to stop being a fan. It wouldn’t be my favorite hire, but I don’t need to like the coach as a person to root for my hometown team. -
Wdym kept the locker room together? Short of guys literally leaving the team and giving up their paychecks, which just doesn’t happen, that locker room seemed about as un-together as possible.

The Colts and Texans also have shitty owners and are viewed poorly. It is absolutely Tepper’s fault that Johnson viewed the Panthers in the same way. Just because it is true of other teams as well does not make it less true of the Panthers.
-
Ben Johnson, Josh McDaniels last time we hired, Rhule begged NY to match Tepper’s offer. But Harbaugh had to push hard just for Tepper to take a phone call. I think the captain of this ship is a moron and we’re gonna get burned by some desperation move a-la Rhule, or get Ron Rivera 2.0 only worse in Wilks.

Seems like he’s having trouble getting people to take his money.
-
This is starting to feel like the Hornets hiring process and we’ll just end up with the same guy/type of guy we have failed with for years (Wilks/Clifford) due to a combination of coaches not wanting to coach here and poor judgment by the organization.
-
Add another to the list of coaches who have rebuffed us since Tepper took over. And include Matt Rhule begging for somebody to match our offer.

Roman Harper thinks Sean Payton could be our next HC now

I think it would be beyond stupid to trade next years first rd pick for a coach. We don’t have a QB or a clear path to one and could easily be picking t10 again next year. We benefitted from a cupcake schedule this year as well I don’t think the roster is as good as some people think. -
What if Stroud doesn’t declare for draft…

Then he’s a dumbass tbh. -
I neither agree nor disagree. I think certain guys are deserving of it. Rhule was not. So because he was a dumbass and gave roster control to the wrong guy, now he’s not interested in the absolute top tier coaching candidates because they want roster control. It’s just over correcting.
-
It’s not that none of them are the answer, it’s that the 2 or 3 who could be the answer will be off the board by the time we pick and the cost to move up as many spots as we would need to from pick 9 is prohibitive. But hey, at least we won a few games so we can do this all again next year.
-
I don’t know if it is common in the NFL to interview that many candidates, but this gives me so little faith in this process. Interviewing that many people for a serious position is poor practice and generally leads to confusion and a higher likelihood of selecting the wrong candidate. And it seems pretty clear they’re not even done yet. They should have easily weeded out several of these candidates before the interview.

We just need to roll with Matt Corral or some rookie next year and if they play us into Drake Maye so be it.

Lol, there was a point this season when they actually ranked Georgia as low as 3rd in the nation.
