My patience is wearing thin but its hard to fault him totally given the ineptitude of our offensive line and coordinators. I would like to see him with a full strength offense but the great QBs have overcome poor offensive line play and injuries to their stars before. His time to prove he's the guy is running out.

Sincerely. I dont see the Mac Jones appeal. Side by side: We're both 4-4 Mac has 173 more yards 2 less interceptions, 2 less fumbles (total, not lost) and 3 less TDs than Darnold. Hes only 9 months younger than Darnold too. While having a far better offensive line and the best coach of all time. I understand its popular to pile on - I certainly want Sam to play better myself - but looking aside from emotions there aren't major differences or anything that stand out that Mac Jones will be anything higher than a mid tier QB in the NFL. Can you win with one of those? Sure. Id probably still take the potential of a Fields or Lance over Mac.

Absolutely not. Don't even need to think about it. Has nothing to do with Baker. Odell is a shell of what he used to be. I could find you 2 dozen examples of any receiver wide open being missed by the QB. It's the nature of the game. Difference is that most players deal with that behind closed doors. This fanbase has been brutal on Robby (rightfully so) what do you think is going to happen when another overpaid WR who also can't catch worth a damn anymore starts getting even more vocal about his target share.

fuging disgusting. Those pictures make my stomach turn. Enjoy prison. All that money and too selfish to call someone or an Uber. Hug your families and loved ones everyone. Tomorrow isn't guaranteed for any of us.

The offense line was actually adequate vs the Falcons
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Scott on the right side all of a sudden made that right side look competent again. As a result Paradis looked to improve from mediocre to below average. Adequate is the right word to use. There were still mistakes, missed assignments and holds but you can compete in a game with that line. That being said, OL has to be the number one priority next year. If not number 1 then 1B. Oh and shout out to Ian Thomas too. Thought he did a very good job at the point of attack yesterday in the run game. -
Panthers signing FA WR Devin Smith to the practice squad
SteveSmithTD89 replied to SgtJoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Man heres a guy I reallllllly liked coming out of Ohio St. Wanted him bad in the 2nd but the Jets got him before us. Wonder why the move. Don't think theres any value as a returner or anything. I know he struggled with a couple ACL tears to the same knee that really derailed his career but he hasn't really stuck around in the 4 years since then. -
PJ was easily our worst QB in preseason and I'm seeing nothing new. Against prevent defense 3/14 for 33 yards and sacked as much in 3 drives as Darnold was in 3 quarters. For a guy who's supposed to make plays with his feet thats pretty fuging embarrassing. Whats ole Will Grier up to in Dallas these days?

I'll never wish injury on anyone but if Miller and Erving are banged up enough we finally get to see Moton - Daley? - Paradis - Brown - BC then I will thank them for their service and wish them a slow but full recovery. Likewise if Shaq going down id be interested to see if they'd move Chinn back to LB and let Kenny Robinson get an honest shot. I know he didn't practice well, but like Luvu, he flashed in every game he played in preseason. Id much rather Shaq come back fast though. Been awesome this year.

Amazing how the final score came out to a one TD game. Refs call that fumble and we get the ball back in plus territory we may be looking at a different outcome. Hell, Carter gets Dak on the ground for a sack 1st play, Shaq doesn't whiff on the scramble and maybe its a different story. Bright side the Saints lost in OT and doesn't look great for Atlanta. HATE losing but we fought back and didn't get blown out so I'll hang on to that for now. Fug the refs tho. -

1) first glance, hes not in. 2) how come we didn't get an immediate whistle stopping forward progress there Jerome? -

Gonna be a long day if we can't get one 4 obvious calls to go in our favor on a single drive. -

Shocking to absolutely nobody Jerome and his clown squad of officials have taken over this drive. Robbed of the fumble. Fox clearly held on that 4th down scramble. SMH. Love the energy and intensity. Keep it up. -

Amazing the success on 2 plays running to the right. I swear I could count on 1 hand the amount of runs to the right weve had all year. Id run behind Miller and Moton all damn day compared to Erving and Daley. -

2 bad holds missed but man, Shaq looking like he did, well for his entire career outside this season, on that drive. Cant belive he whiffed that bad on Dak. Need the offense to respond here. -
Christian McCaffrey to miss "a few weeks"
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
The pro of these stupid TNF games is we have 10 days till Dallas, almost like a mini bye. Means he likely misses only 2 games against Dallas and Philly with plans to have him back for Minnesota. The team not placing him on IR seems to indicate they also think he'll be 100% by that 3rd game. We saw last year they aren't afraid to shut him down till he's 100%. -
So examples of rare throws would be like the 25 yard dart to Marshall on our first drive that he dropped? Or the back shoulder fade to the opposite hash to DJ Moore for 27? Secondly I respectfully disagree. Darnold navigated the rush, stepped up in the pocket and while drifting left launched a ball to the right hash that traveled from our own 35 to the NY 12. Did Robby slow up? Yes. Did he have to come to a complete stop or come back to the ball? No. Id argue that was by definition a big time throw. I dont want to make excuses, he wasn't perfect but people throwing around words like "mediocre" either haven't been fans very long, have a vendetta or have somehow forgotten the poo show of QBs we've matched out the last 10 years. Those are throws we haven't seen made since 2018.
-
Sam was the least of my worries today. Not perfect by any means but was well above average and most importantly was not a liability or someone we won the game in spite of. Hot Take: I thought this was the best QB play we've seen since Cams (pre TJ Watt hit) 2018 season. I dont even know if that's that hot of a take with the competition being a one armed Cam, Kyle Allen, Will Grier, Taylor Heineke, Teddy Bridgewater and PJ Walker.

Official New York Jets at Carolina Panthers Gameday Thread!
SteveSmithTD89 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Agreed. Was irritating to still see them poo on Sam. You know who else had notorious happy feet? Peyton Manning. As long as he continues to read the field, plants his foot and and drives the throws right on target then I dont care. -

Id argue its better. Corners are glued to their guys, the pass rush is swarming Wilson and impacting every throw. Wilson's had his arm sleeve shredded since the 1st quarter from guys grabbing at it. That doesn't show up in a box score that says: "Z. Wilson pass incomplete short left"
