  1. I don’t think our owner is cheap in regards to the product on the ice. In fact, GMDW and the Canes are one do the few teams that were vocally disappointed in the fact that the cap only went up a little. We are a cap team now which is something we never were under Rutherford. Ultimately, Dundon is a business man. If he thinks turning the surrounding area of PNC Arena into The Battery is going to generate money then he’ll do it. But he’ll also let someone like John Forslund go to save money if he doesn’t think it’ll affect the bottom line. Where I think the issue lies is in how we spend the money and in how we evaluate our own prospects and picks.
  2. Kind of depends. We have a lot of guys that should be developing into who they are going to be as players going forward (Bunting, Jarvis, Svechnikov, Kotkaniemi, Necas, Drury, and Chatfield). A BIG IF, but IF those guys step up then we could be really really good. If we don’t see the development that we need then yes, we could be looking at another season of disappointment. I think we’re at a point where the organization hopes a lot of our guys become the best versions of them self this year but I think a lot of fans are thinking that if that doesn’t happen then we need to have the elite high end goal scorer to fall back on.
  3. Yellow journalism is more prevalent than it ever has been and lol at David Newton thinking anyone clicks on his poo.
  4. Really only a couple things to iron out. - I for sure don’t see any use for Coghlan, try to ship him somewhere for a sixth round pick or something or just waive him. - If Svechnikov starts on IR then he won’t count against the roster which opens up room for someone else. If he doesn’t start on IR then the Canes will probably have to assign Kochetkov to someone’s AHL team along with Ponomarev, Rees, and Suzuki as the roster would be full (13 forwards, 8 defensemen, 2 goalies). - If Svech does start on IR then the Canes can either choose to keep three goalies or move Kochetkov to the AHL and keep one of Ponomarev, Rees, or Suzuki up. I personally hope that we don’t rush Svech and let him take his time. In the meantime, I’d use the fact that Kochetkov is waiver exempt to our advantage and send him to the AHL so that he can get games (apparently we have an assignment agreement with two unnamed teams this year while we search for our new AHL affiliate). With Svech on IR ane Kochetkov in the AHL, I’d keep up Ponomarev. My opening night roster would be: Bunting - Aho - Jarvis Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Drury - Ponomarev - Noesen Lemieux Slavin - Burns Orlov - Pesce Skjei - Chatfield Jones - DeAngelo Andersen Raanta IR - Svechnikov AHL Call Up’s - Rees, Suzuki, Kochetkov
  5. They said on the broadcast that Levis is nicked up and that they weren’t going to play Tannehill. I guess they are probably one of the few teams that isn’t carrying 4 QB’s during the preseason.
  6. Malik Willis looks so much more comfortable than he did last year. He’s currently 9/16 for 80 yards and 1 TD (along with 1 pick), he also has 7 carries for 72 yards.
  7. I think Coghlan gets put on waivers and that’s it. Season starts with… Bunting - Aho Jarvis Teravainen - Kotkaniemi - Necas Martinook - Staal - Fast Lemieux - Drury - Noesen Other Options - Ponomarev, Rees, Suzuki Slavin - Burns Orlov - Pesce Skjei - Chatfield Jones - TDA Andersen Raanta Kochetkov
  8. Jaguars might have something in Tank Bigsby. He’s been solid during the preseason.
  9. I also was really high on him but man has he been a disappointment.
  10. I actually like some things that DJ Johnson did. He made a superb one-on-one tackle on the Giants QB off a play action bootleg that I’ve seen many players miss. If he misses that tackle the Giants QB is still running. Blackshear has been mentioned and I agree, I really like his shiftiness. He seems to have a lot of twitch and his vision and burst seems to be better than Hubbard’s. I also thought Deion Jones played well, he had some nice sticks at the LOS and generated some pressure on the Giants QB. And finally I was impressed with the Giants inability to line up onside for the duration of the first half. That was an amazing display of either not giving a fug or having no idea where the actual LOS is. One player I was not impressed with was Eric Rowe, guy is not twitchy at all and was getting eaten alive on post routes. God help him if the receiver doesn’t run in a straight line causes he’s toast.
  11. 100%, but I’d also them workout the issues with our franchise QB on the sideline.
  12. And if there was one play to get excited about tonight it was Mingo going full wrecking ball. That same type of play saw Waller get annihilated by Vonn Bell but Mingo ate the hit and got some nice YAC. He could be a good one.
  13. Shi Smith with the night he needed. Have to wonder if Byrd’s injury opens the door for another season in Carolina for Smith.
  14. Thomas Brown was out there scheming guys open, who knew you could do that. Would like to see him get a full game next week.
  15. I see you Luton, just giving the Giants false hope.
  16. I get what he’s saying from the perspective of having a rookie QB, but after what Daboll did with a Giants team that was dog poo the year before, you can’t really use the patience argument.
  17. Well hell, tripped all over our dick in the first half but might as well go ahead and win this one.
  18. DJ Johnson just played that as good as you possibly can.
  19. Honestly just let Pastor Frank do a service for the team on Sunday mornings and let Thomas Brown take over from there.
  20. Luton might be worth a PS spot if that’s what we can expect out of him.
  21. Matthew Wright game winning FG, trying to speak it into existence.
  22. I know it’s a joke but you honestly might be right. He might be a better leader than he is an actual coach. But if he’s got a good staff we can be successful.
