Slot was where he should have been moved to. McLaurin’s least amount of snaps come from the slot and he stated just last year that he was learning the position. Worse case scenario is that Rivera moves McLaurin to the slot to match up with D-Jax but at that point you have linebacker help and you are only giving up 5-10 yard gains rather than 20+ yard completions. I get that Gilmore is still limited but he played 55% of the snaps yesterday. There’s no reason that he shouldn’t have been put on McLaurin with the safety shaded to his side to take away the deep threat. As far as Jackson goes, it doesn’t mean much that you can keep up with the receiver if your ball skills are horrible. HOWEVER, D-Jax has a had a solid season and we shouldn’t take him to the woodshed over one game where the coaching staff did nothing to help him out. It basically looked like they were shell-shocked that he was getting smoked and had no idea what to do to fix it.

Does the stadium audio seem way too loud this year?
MillionDollarCam replied to Donald LaFell's topic in Carolina Panthers
Don’t think it’s just a Panthers thing, hearing this complaint across nearly every sport right now. The sound guys forgot how to do their job during the pandemic. -
Really, what does Derrick Brown do?
MillionDollarCam replied to FuFuLamePoo's topic in Carolina Panthers
Brown hasn’t been great (average at best), but outside of Wirfs, Becton (who was a risky pick), Terrell, Lamb, and Jefferson… who do you replace him with? You certainly don’t replace Brown with Kinlaw who has been down right atrocious. In hindsight, we should have drafted Wirfs but we had just signed Okung and had Moton on the other side. It’s also tough to say whether or not Brown has been hampered by DaQuan Jones. Jones has been the worst out of the two and maybe that’s affecting Brown’s play. With the wealth of corners that we have, maybe giving Donte Jackson’s money to someone like Maliek Collins would help sure up the run game. -

To be fair… Kinlaw has been worse than Brown. From our pick (Brown), all they way down to the end of the first round, only Wirfs, Becton, Terrell, Jefferson, and Lamb are really above average NFL players. The 2020 NFL draft is on pace to have more first round incarcerations (Ruggs and potentially Arnette and Wilson) than pro bowlers (Young and Jefferson). -
Rhule Has No Idea What He Is Doing
MillionDollarCam replied to Castavar's topic in Carolina Panthers
Personally, I wouldn’t give Rhule another year if his team fails to make the playoffs this year. As of yesterday the playoffs were in reach until the organization poo all down their leg. Right now, the Vikings (tiebreaker lost), Eagles (tiebreaker lost), and 49ers all look much better than us. As far as the leash, I don’t have an answer because it’s playoffs or bust. Firing him mid-season won’t make anyone feel better even if the team is trash. I believe only 12 interim coaches have ever won a playoff game and it’s unlikely Phil Snow would be the 13th. If we are terrible again next year then we start another rebuild in the off-season unfortunately. -
This is getting a little rowdy for me, y’all have a good night.

I think this is where our disconnect is. For you it’s one game… for others it’s another game of “missed opportunities” or “it is what is”. One game could easily be the difference in missing or making the playoffs which in turn could get your boy canned (I don’t think it will but you never know). I think the issue here is all that time under Rivera made you complacent. Trust me, Rhule is making $56M, he doesn’t need you to defend him.

Guess I’ll see you in seven weeks then.

Rhule Has No Idea What He Is Doing
MillionDollarCam replied to Castavar's topic in Carolina Panthers
Then we’d have a bunch of Super Bowls and we’d both be happy I guess. And past-tense hypotheticals are relevant when the person who fugged up is still with the organization and still fugging up. But that’s a conversation for next year when Rhule is in his make or break season. -
It’s better than being satisfied with reality when things aren’t going your way. Some of us actually prefer to see the Panthers get better and would prefer it be in this decade. But hey… five year plans turn into ten year plans and before you know it your are still overweight ten years later.

Rhule Has No Idea What He Is Doing
MillionDollarCam replied to Castavar's topic in Carolina Panthers
We were playing if’s, but’s, and maybe’s a few weeks ago after the Patriots went seal hunting on our asses… might as well continue to play. If you don’t think about hypotheticals in the sports industry then you end up settling for Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold as your QB because you were too short-sighted… after all, that’s why Tepper has a “five year” plan… to plan for the future… -
Cam wouldn’t have had much to stand on… it’s not the same situation as forcing a wanted player (Julio) to play. At the end of the day if he doesn’t play we end up with Lawrence or Lance and our fanbase ends up happy in the long run (i.e. how Houston will end up with Corral or Willis). As for the one person decision thing… that didn’t come from me. I personally think Hurney and Rhule made the decision together but ultimately as Rhule stated, he has “final say”. If he wanted Cam, he’d have never left. And now we’re in a situation where Hurney is gone and Rhule is still here, so yes, Rhule is going to continually get blamed as he’s the one that had to pick up the phone and call Cam.
-
Julio was traded for a second and a third… not even remotely close to the same situation. Watson is wanted by teams, just not at the price that Houston has on him. In the long run they are going to end up with Corral or Willis so they’ll be okay. On our end, according to Hurney, no one wanted to trade for Cam… I doubt he’d have stayed disgruntled for too long knowing that. Additionally, it wasn’t exactly like teams were rushing to sign him once he was released.

Another Thing that Bugged Me About Rhule (Miller>Scott)
MillionDollarCam replied to Castavar's topic in Carolina Panthers
That was a flat out shitty decision… Here’s a live look at John Miller playing guard… more at 11. -
It’s literally the greatest move… you don’t end up wasting money on two shitty QB’s and you either get to see what Cam has left in the tank or you roll with Kyle Allen and Will Grier and likely end up with Trevor Lawrence. At the end of the day we know Cam wouldn’t have held out because he’s a competitor so we’d have had our answer last year that Cam can still be our QB rather than chasing after QB’s that aren’t even has-been’s they are never-was’s… And Rhule takes the blame because he’s running the show… he literally said the contracts go through him… that’s clear as day. Example A: “I think in terms of on the contract, a lot of those things probably rest with me,” Rhule said. I’ll be one of the few as well that states that Hurney had some fault in it as well but he’s no longer here so… if Rhule was truly a stand up guy and truly believed he could make chicken salad out of chicken poo, why didn’t he fight for Cam… all he had to say was “Hey Marty, give me shot with this guy”. Let’s be real, Rhule wanted to ride with his own guy and it’s gotten him nowhere.
-
Okay I’ll respond to this because the answer is rather easy… You don’t extend him… If you truly don’t think he’s good enough to be the franchise QB you let him play out the final year of his contract, get a high draft pick, and replace him… not sign fugging Teddy Bridgewater and then trade for Sam Darnold. If he plays well then you re-sign him, if he doesn’t then congrats, your new franchise QB is Mac Jones… simple as that. And if Cam chooses to hold out then he’s the one that comes under fire for it and you trot out Kyle Allen and Will Grier… and like magic… you still get your high draft pick. Hell, you might even get Trevor Lawrence with as bad as those two are.
-
It certainly could take longer than a year and a half… hell the Browns still don’t have a QB… but we’re back to the issue that it shouldn’t have taken a year because Cam was already on the roster. I’m not in the organization and I have no ties to the organization but I find it hard to believe Tepper or Hurney had anything to do with Cam’s departure. It wasn’t Tepper who called Cam, it wasn’t Fitt… it was Rhule. That speaks volumes in my opinion. That’s all for me tonight folks, enjoyed the football conversation. Always nice to talk ball with civilized people. Until next time.
-
That one position has lost and won more football games than both you and I can count. For me, it’s not about finding the QB, it’s about not letting the QB that came back a chance to start with. If Rhule gives Cam a chance we aren’t having this conversation.
-
Bad matchup for sure… But I did suggest a change unless you glossed over it. McLaurin plays the least amount if his snaps in the slot… that’s where you move Jackson. Okay, so what happens when they move McLaurin to the slot.. at that point you have linebacker help and worse case scenario you are giving up 5-10 yard completions rather than 20+ yard completions. You can also rotate him with Bouye so that Jackson isn’t completely out of the game plan but he also isn’t hurting you every play. It’s certainly better than being flat out benched. Onnnnn the other hand… If WFT doesn’t move McLaurin to the slot then you play Gilmore on him and at that point you can play man across the board and shade the safety to McLaurin’s side to deal with his speed. It’s not rocket science… In fact, Rhule should pop open a Webster’s, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results.

Rhule Has No Idea What He Is Doing
MillionDollarCam replied to Castavar's topic in Carolina Panthers
That’s cause ol’ faithful is back… what happens if he isn’t resigned next year or even worse, what happens if he is BUT the Panthers don’t make the playoffs. Also, let’s not kid ourselves. Tepper isn’t a fool, Cam is our best option but he also keeps the stadium full. -
To me it’s not about the coaching… it’s the wasting of a year and a half to find out that the answer was “truly on the roster”. I think he gets another year but it’s playoffs or bust next year.
-
I personally don’t think zone was the answer. There’s no reason to punish the rest of your defense because one guy is shitting his britches. McLaurin is known to be an outside guy, he can play in the slot but just last year he stated that he was learning the position. I’d take my chances on the fact that they don’t move him inside and if they do at least the deep threat is off the board and you have linebacker help. If they keep him on the outside then you have Gilmore there to play press man.

10 carries for the best RB in football
MillionDollarCam replied to KillaCamNewton's topic in Carolina Panthers
This… Brady called a stinker but it wasn’t due to not feeding CMC. This was the quintessential Rivera game where the WFT had 10 more minutes of possession than us and we were playing from behind most of the second half. Couple that in with the fact that we only ran 49 plays on offense and McCaffrey touched the ball on 35% of those plays… it’s easy to see that this wasn’t a usage issue for CMC. -

MillionDollarCam replied to Castavar's topic in Carolina Panthers
Five year rebuild won’t sound so exciting to Tepper once the stadium looks like it did in the Clausen days. Wether you have a billion dollars or $100, no one likes losing money. -
It’s not Cam I’m worried about, it’s the fact that the Vikings, 49ers, and Eagles are all ahead of us with much easier schedules.
