  1. Tremayne was making plays on ST as well. It's darned near impossible that he makes the final 53, but he caught my attention for sure (even though I admittedly had to look him up).
  2. OK people, I'm in the Wilmington area, and Fox is Abysmal using an antenna. I just decided FUGGIT and purchased NFL+ only to find out that my local game is blocked! WTF? Is this a preseason thing or are all the panthers' game going to be blacked out?
  3. yeah... I currently have 54 on my roster (55 counting Mwansa), and 1 of them is NOT Blackshear. I also think that we'll be all over the waiver wire for a RT, FS, and CB. I like our starters and 90% of our backups, but we have some glaring weaknesses even if the new guy ALL hit. 9 OL, 7 WR, 2 QB, 3 RB, 4 TE. 6 DL, 5 OLB, 6 ILB, 6 CB, 4 S.
  4. WR had been talked to death, general consensus is Moore and Horn are fighting for WR6... buuuut we might keep 7. Not trying to beat that dead horse. The reason I bring it up is because it affects how many we keep at TE and OL. Icky, Lewis, Corbett, Hunt and Moton are obvious starters. That's 5. For the backups we have Christensen who plays LT, RT, LG, RG, in that order. As they bring up in this podcast, he is the 6th guy in jumbo packages and, IMO, the only b/u tackle we have. I'm not sure Nijman makes the team over another team's veteran cut. That's 6. Mays is likely going to play center at some point given Corbett's history with injuries, and I'm OK with that. He did great last year and I honestly don't see a drop off if that happens. He also can play either guard spot. His natural side is on the right, but he'll be starting at left this weekend. That's 7. Obviously Zavala if he's healthy. That's 8. We need another b/u tackle (even if it is Nijman). That's 9. That's a solid OL room. On to TE. Sanders is a lock. James Mitchell and Mitchell Evans are neck and neck from what I've seen/heard. I really like Tremble if he's ready to go by game 1, but he's not doing himself any favors from the sidelines because Mitchell and Evans are making plays. Does he start the season on PUP? Do we carry 4 TE's? Maybe, if we only keep 9 OL. What are the chances Mitchell or Evans clear waivers? TE, IMO, has become the biggest roster battle on offense.
  5. I was really hoping that Luke Kandra was going to step up. He was my UDFA crush this year until Thornton started playing with the 1s. He was a stellar RG and the Panthers have been trying him at center as well. Carter has stood out several times not in a good way. As far as I know...I haven't heard Kandra's name at all.
  6. Good, our ST is almost as bad as our ILB depth!
  7. yikes. Lewis and Zavala are banged up. That ain't good.
  8. Yeah, Franklin was a good ST guy that could fill in at safety IN AN EMERGENCY. But he was still better than Scott, IMO.
  9. Keeping Scott over Franklin last year caused both those problems! I cringed any time he had to play D, but I do the same for Scott. At least Franklin was a ST beast. Even Smitty mentioned him when he pointed out that we didn't really have a gunner on the team.
  10. The way he was slamming into people, he could play SS!
  11. First off, no one has mentioned how banged up Cherelus is. Second, even if he is out for an extended time period, he's replaceable. Bam, Barnes, or Windmon (or another team's cut) gonna need to step up. Even the article quoted by OP says: "To be fair, for now this is probably a bigger deal for Carolina's special teams unit than for their defense. Last year Cherelus only played 17% of the team's defensive snaps. Still, even though Cherelus was only a backup's backup at linebacker, it's not like this group could afford to lose anybody heading into the preseason" TBF: Cherelus WAS reportedly having a good camp. but still...
  12. Kandra listed as 3rd is interesting, he's only ever played RG. I doubt that he makes the roster (likely PS), but I wonder if that means the experiment with Christensen at C is over.
  13. Rico listed 2nd on KR but not at all on PR. Is there really that much of a difference when returning? Catch ball, find blockers, run like hell!
  14. I wouldn't read too much into it yet. Early depth charts always favor seniority unless it's obvious like Tmac. They've got Cam Jackson as 4th DT, and by all reports he's balling out at practices. I think he ends up rotating in a lot on early downs.
  15. I love love love that Chuba is consistently 1st out and last in! It's inspiring to see a player get a big contract and work even harder.
  16. If we score during our first 2 possessions I'll be happy. If we score twice, I'll be elated! Everyone has to remember that even with our starters on the field, our play calling will still be vanilla AF. We're not trying to show the Jags anything that they can use.
  17. I'm sure that SOB is hiding in the stands somewhere with a camcorder! Old habits are hard to break.
  18. Yeah, and I JUST said in another thread that I hadn't heard anything about him dropping passes, SMH. I'm apparently reading threads in the wrong order, lol. That definitely looked like PI to me BTW.
  19. One thing that I'm GLAD I'm not hearing about is XL Dropping balls. I know that the team has a monopoly on what information gets reported to the fans and its only camp, but I haven't heard a thing about his case of the dropsies continuing. XL with improved hands will be a beast!
  20. 4 if you count Zavala, which seems a little more serious. Last I heard, he's week to week but expected back for regular season.
  21. I hadn't seen this, looks like he's back at 100% this week. He's been making plays in camp. He's definitely playing waaaay better than an UDFA.
  22. Because Philly had that narrow ass! I like my WR's opposite of how I like my women!!
