Panthers may now be hesitant to trade back...
XClown1986 replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
The Saints need a QB, a WR, and a LT. If they think they can get 2 of those in the first round without moving up, I think they want both picks in this draft. They believe they arent going to be in position for a QB in next year's draft and their guy is going to slide to them. At worst they will have to maybe jump up a few spots with one of the 1st rounders, but I think they actually do want more picks this year and aren't looking for one top tier guy. -
Best pass blocking LT for a team that couldn't block at all on the left side of the line? Wow, what a revelation.

Chris Simms top QB is Matt Corral and why you should listen
XClown1986 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not convinced that Matt Corral is as low on boards as people think. The only way that would happen is if something seriously wrong came up medically or character-wise. If we want him we are going to have to take him at 6. -
Dolphins just got him for 5 draft picks including a 1st and 2nd this year, per Twitter.
-
The Chiefs offered him a deal to make him the highest paid receiver in the league. He still balked at the offer and expected more. Chiefs refuse to budge on their offer, so the stand off is resulting in a break up.

QBs are coached to protect themselves and the physical development is essential when they get to the NFL. I prefer a bigger guy too, but I'll take Patrick Mahomes or Russell Wilson over Brock Osweiler or Mike Glennon. Talent trumps size in some cases.
-
If any QB in this draft comes to the Panthers, I would be most excited for Corral. He needs a year in a pro weight training program to help his build, but he has everything you want, otherwise.
-
I read somewhere that scouts have been higher on Walker than the media for awhile and that there is a legitimate possibility he could be looked at to go number 1. I guess we will see.
-
Travon Walker would be an amazing get. He is going to be a force. I would love the pick.

Game film shows where the QB is currently in terms of his ability at the position. Pro days and Combine answers the questions of how much there is to really work with and where is the ceiling.
-
Lol, then why pay attention to the pro day at all? This is supposed to show his baseline physical ability for the position. The "control" test, so to speak. The other stuff is already on film.
-
No doubt. But I was more referring to the conversation here on the board. The debate isn't about whether he is "good" but about if he looks like he is a franchise QB or not. Ultimately, it's in the hands of the Panthers, but as fans, that's what we are discussing.
-
Does he warrant a top 10 pick? That's more what the debate is about.
-
Some people are saying that depending how his pro day goes, it could vault him up to number 1 at his position. Says a lot about the volatility of this class.
-
I would put Edge in there as well. And I don't think we can say we are set at WR either.

Kenny Pickett > Malik Willis (at least for us)
XClown1986 replied to janderson20vt's topic in Carolina Panthers
Look all I'm saying is look at his receivers drops from college to pros. Its high. And skews the numbers. -
Kenny Pickett > Malik Willis (at least for us)
XClown1986 replied to janderson20vt's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's actually reversed. Jones has average arm strength for a QB and his accuracy is lauded. If you are looking at numbers, consider his offensive line and his targets. He also trusts his accuracy a bit too much and throws into tight coverage. Causes problems. -

Best starter comp for Kenny Pickett? Daniel Jones. -

Ok man. Have fun in your narrow and sad world.
