  1. I think Canales needs to pull Raheem Blackshear off of returns for these last two preseason games. That's really the best way to gauge whether or not one of these borderline guys can contribute in other ways. It is not looking like Blackshear is going to make the 53, so those are wasted reps imo. Split time between Horn and Renfrow and see what we have. Also, Canales loves David Moore, so dismissing him is a mistake on fans' part. He plays special teams well and can be depended on, if needed, to make plays on offense. That's valuable for a 4th-5th receiver. I don't think he is a 100% lock, but there is something to be said for the trust Dave has in him.
  2. Why do you suggest that both things have to be true? Why do you assume that Seattle and Tampa's passing attack isn't something Bryce can do? His style and passing ability are similar to both Russell Wilson and Baker Mayfield.
  3. Looking into it, Corey Thornton's measurables are close to Brandon Browner. 2 inches shorter, but pro day numbers are almost identical.
  4. Dude you seriously have the worst takes on things. The worst.
  5. Best duo in the league? Absolutely not. - Jamarr Chase and Tee Higgins - AJ Brown and Devonta Smith - Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison - and hell I'll even say if Godwin is back to being healthy, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are better also. And that is just off the top of my head.
  6. The struggle for decent and accurate writing in all aspects of media is very real. Sad.
  7. I always looked at the difference being that a kick returner is really all about ball security and vision, whereas a punt returner needs to have more agility and instincts to make something happen.
  8. How so? Dowdle is on a one year deal. If we get great production cheaply while Etienne gets to learn and develop so he steps in seamlessly next year, I'd say that's a win for everyone.
  9. The depth chart is largely unsettled on the defensive side, for good reason. I see it shuffling quite a bit before it's over. I think it just reflects seniority for the moment. Hell Nick Scott and A. Robinson may not even make it through final cuts, let alone be starters. It'll be interesting to see what happens.
  10. No, White suggested they would be a tandem with a nickname like that and Johnson shut him down. Wasn't interested in sharing the spotlight in the backfield. I remember it because it was awkward af to watch play out.
  11. I may be reading too much into this, but the comments from Canales about Horn don't really indicate good news. He compares him to Deven Thompkins, whom he said he loves, and Thompkins had a really good camp last year and was creating separation and making plays just about every day. But Thompkins was cut. And when we did bring him back, it wasn't for any real meaningful snaps. And then we cut him again. That's not a guy I would want to be compared to. Granted, we did draft Horn, and Horn isn't Thompkins, but Canales praised Horn as a guy that made other guys better, not as a guy that was playing well. And I think there is a clear difference. Just trying to see through the coach speak.
  12. Dotson seems more like a safety to me. I think he could be a solid Cover 2 corner or robber type because of his size, vision, and ball skills. He's just a bit slow. He kind of reminds me of Roman Harper. But Dotson would have to become a much better tackler to play safety full time.
  13. I'm hoping we go after Eric Kendricks
  14. One player going down on either side of the ball (minus quarterback) should never reasonably result in complete collapse.
  15. Yeah and the defense was the worst in history, statistically. And then we invested heavily into defense this off-season. We had holes everywhere last year and weren't a good team.
  16. Maybe the offense doesn't have any excuses, but the defense has to give the team a chance. We can't be playing from 3 touchdowns behind and expect the offense to still thrive every game. We have to get some stops on 3rd down. We have to be able to create more time of possession for the offense more opportunities through turnovers. There's more pressure on Evero than there is on Bryce I think this year. Even if only slightly.
  17. It's like anything else. The leadership and staff needs to have a clear vision and communicate their expectations. Then the players have to buy in, hold themselves and each other accountable, and follow through.
  18. Didn't Smitty buy him Dunkin donuts as an apology? Like sorry I cracked your eyesocket, have a bagel. What a douche.
  19. Brindamour better regroup and figure out a new strategy. Canes were out muscled and out hustled all game.
  20. We can't keep up with them. They play faster.
  21. Supporting Bryce is based on continued growth, which he has shown. If he regresses to the state he was in last year in the first two games? Then it is time to move on. The issue is that he HAS shown growth and the haters are trying to assess him as the player prior to his ascension. And they seem to almost be rooting for his failure. It's sad.
  22. Honestly, if he can't crack 3000 yards over 17 games, then yes.
