Over many many years of Marty Hurney being in charge, I've gotten used to saying "Well I don't agree with what they're doing, but I hope it works". I'm fully prepared to say that again this year if they draft a quarterback in round one. But also hoping I don't have to..not only for that decision but also for numerous others to come.

It's kind of like with the Rams and Lions did with Goff (on a far lesser scale). There had long been speculation that we were going to have to do something like this to move Bridgewater because his contract was terrible.
-
That was probably what we were asking. They wanted us to take on part of his salary and were willing to move up to a sixth.

The Broncos weren't going to do the deal if we didn't.

Same day as Wilson's pro day. Lance's pro day was way earlier. (his first one anyway) -

I'm not so sure I like the idea of the Falcons getting a sh-tload of picks because I think Fontenot is a lot smarter GM than they've had before. -
I've already said I think Fields is a possibility. But trading Bridgewater doesn't mean jack sh-t on that front.

According to Michael Silver, it was originally going to be a seventh. The Broncos bumped it up to a sixth to convince the Panthers to pay part of his salary.

Vegas odds had us hiring Jim Harbaugh as our next head coach.

I know some people have suggested that either Lance or Fields could be Newton 2.0. I've said repeatedly that people with those ideas don't properly recall just how unique Newton really was.
-
Valid. Honestly though, I just look at it as a bad quarterback being gone and us getting something back for him is borderline miraculous.

Panthers now have the 3rd most cap space in the NFL in 2022.

Circling back again to saying this is year one of the rebuild rather than year two. -
Sh-t like that is one of the reasons why I hate backloaded contracts.

I actually don't. Did I miss something?

No wonder he never called him.
