  1. Same. And while I'd never say Russell Wilson isn't a good quarterback, it is fair to point out that Seahawks Super Bowl victory had a lot less to do with him than it did their defense.
  2. That was Grigson, wasn't it?
  3. I won't claim to have known this existed.
  4. A guy who's part of the team and has access to their inside people is wrong, but you (random internet fan) who looks at cap websites are right. Wow When you travel somewhere, do you have to buy a separate ticket for your ego?
  5. If you file it under "anything is possible" sure. I'd give it about the same likelihood as Teddy Bridgewater taking an 80% pay cut because he understands he's not performing well.
  6. I'd agree, but you're always going to have the egotistical coach that looks at an underachieving player and says "I can fix him".
  7. I think if you went back and asked the guys actually running those defenses, they'd have a different opinion. The reason we know this is because many of them said so.
  8. Imagine having a great quarterback and McCaffrey though. (and yes, that's possible)
  9. I questioned drafting Tua because of his injury. A year in, his injury doesn't necessarily look that bad, but his performance doesn't look very good.
  10. I'd agree, but it's also fair to point out that with a healthy McCaffrey all those guys have the potential to be even more productive given the attention defenses are going to pay to him. In the previous season, teams' entire game plan was pretty much just to stop McCaffrey.
  11. You really only have to go back five. Peyton was a shell of himself when we played the Broncos. Again though, you're still talking about a formula that works maybe once every ten years. I prefer something a little more consistent.
  12. We seem to be at that stage in the offseason where if a team official orders coffee, it means we're going after Player X. Feels like we got to that point earlier than usual this year.
  13. There's uncertainty whether we have enough money to keep Samuel now. Trade McCaffrey and all the money they've only recently freed up goes bye-bye.
  14. Disagree. I think Weis was a very good offensive coach. I remember reading about some of his strategies when he was with the Patriots. With all that said, I'm still not a big fan of drafting Jones, especially at #8.
  15. Not a huge fan myself but I think it's always a good idea to get different perspectives and Weis was a very good offensive mind. Charlie Weis raves about Mac Jones as potential Patriots QB "What are the two most important components of a star quarterback? They have the 'it' factor. And they're accurate. That's who he was," Weis said. Weis, who was a central figure in Tom Brady's development in the early years of the QB's career, initially shared his viewpoint during an interview on his Sirius XM NFL Radio program with co-host Bill Lekas. He was asked to expound on it in a follow-up conversation with ESPN.com. One of the knocks on Jones is he was surrounded by an all-star level cast at Alabama, but Weis sees that as more of a positive factor. "You talk about being around good players. Yeah, he was around good players. But playing on a team with a bunch of stars, who is the leader of the offense?" Weis said. "He also had to make all those throws. I think the kid is an excellent quarterback. He has less holes than just about anybody." The Patriots pick No. 15 in the 2021 NFL draft, and ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has them picking Jones in his latest mock draft. Fellow ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay had Jones going earlier than that in his second mock. Jones' athleticism isn't at the same level as other top prospects. But Weis, who highlighted how Jones has been coached by Nick Saban, one of Bill Belichick's closest friends, believes his positive attributes outweigh potential concern. "If you're looking for a guy that's going to be running for 30 yards on a regular basis, that's not your guy. But he can move in the pocket, and from the pocket, and run the ball when he absolutely needs to. "When you talk about Trevor Lawrence, what makes him so special is that he can do everything Mac Jones can and he's athletic. [Justin] Fields, really good player. Zach Wilson, really good player. The kid from North Dakota State [Trey Lance], really good player. "But this guy, [Jones], he's the one making all the plays. All he does is win and throw completions." Weis made a comparison to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees when he was coming out of Purdue in 2001. "He went in the second round because everyone said, 'He doesn't take any snaps under center and his arm is not strong enough.' All he did was play great at Purdue, and complete almost every pass," Weis said. "How has that worked out?"
  16. The worst player on any given NFL team is still one of the best athletes in the world. ... That doesn't change the fact that they're the worst player.
  17. Cap might make that rough. The cap hit for trading Wentz is brutal.
  18. Not wanting to go to Miami sounds like kind of a stretch.
  19. Taking him on the team is easy. It's the "any cost" part that would worry me. Geoff Schwartz actually got into it with some Panther fans over the idea that Watson alone is enough.
  20. Voth pretty much shot down the idea of us trading McCaffrey.
  21. Not unless he got them before we drafted him because he's been like this from the beginning. Even in college there was a knock on him that he looked lost sometimes.
