I was not a fan of the Mingo pick(I was on TMJ). Unfortunately I proved to be right on Mingo. I hope my accuracy is low because I also did not like the XL pick.
-
I mean....Mingo is about as exact of a TMJ carbon copy as you could imagine. You couldn't nail that it you tried.
-
I mean....look at what we initially traded for him. I think we are hyperinflating his actual value.

With the first pick, don't draft a QB? Draft a DE? C'mon!

We can't hand out big FA contracts but we also can't sit on our hands. You make a couple of shrewd FA moves and it starts to tilt the scale towards actual rebuild. -
You know....I would like to think that is true but we just don't know what this situation would have done to him. Maybe Stroud is struggling and Bryce is looking like early Mac Jones(decent comp, IMO).
-
He wouldn't have. He would have started here, done as badly or worse, we would have started him even longer as he failed, got injured and worse. He isn't a good QB but he would have been demonstrably worse here as this situation(especially last year) is LIGHT YEARS worse than in Indy. He might be the only QB that could actually have fared worse here than Bryce. This would be a complete nightmare scenario for someone like AR.

Mingo should definitely be behind AT(if he is still here), Coker and XL. He has basically shown he isn't going to develop. Let Coker and XL actually get meaningful reps as they likely have some sort of future here.
-
Dalton or Flacco for a decent deal should be the move. Russell Wilson will not be available and would be wildly expensive. The rest of those options are not better IMO(Darnold, Winston, etc). Most of that list is #3 QB's. Don't hyperfocus on the future at QB in a weak QB period. Get short term stability and then build an NFL roster over the next few years. We should have multiple top 10 draft picks in the next 4-5 seasons, so there will be ample opportunities to swing at a QB again. If not and we suddenly are able to get good, well then we become an attractive FA option for a QB.

Gotta flip those around for accuracy.

I mean.....I wasn't happy with the draft he already had. It was not good at all, IMO. Looked a LOT like a classic Fitterer draft.

You know who yes men get a lot of love from?
-
I have no idea where you are getting these numbers but they are not accurate.
-
Yeah, it's a little disappointing but it just is what it is. That really wasn't an option. He went full locker room cancer mode and we really don't need that at the moment. Especially with some potentially impressionable young WR's here.
-
It is unlikely to be big moves but a LOT of roster churn, I suspect. But, big moves are possible because we have a lot of guys that can be cut, as well. It will he interesting to see if they panic and start trying to save their skins(Canales/Morgan) or they remain patient and build slowly.
-
I think the problem here is that we aren't going to have the luxury of standing pat in free agency to generate a potential Day 2 or Day 3 pick. We have far too many holes in the roster to just sit on our hands. The Ravens are a great example of having the luxury to met guys walk because ywar in and year out they are not only stacked with talent but manage to identify even more in the draft. We should get much better at compensatory picks and that system but we have to really build this roster up first.

It is what it is. We probably came to the market late(likely after this week's game), asked more than reasonable market value or just generally didn't read the room as quickly as we should have. It's partly a franchise blunder and partly just the market dynamics. Of all the things to fret over with this franchise, this really isn't one of them, IMO.
-
Not much more, most likely.
-
Like I said, I don't think he was as valuable as people think. If he wasn't he wouldn't have been traded to us for a relatively low price. He's a talented and high maintenance player that probably creates more BS than he solves in most cases.
-
He might be trending Jamarcus Russell if he thinks he is a great passer. Yeah, he needs to be on the bench for a WHILE.

FTFY

Basically Robby Anderson+ trade. Johnson is a better player but similar circumstances were incoming, IMO. No real reason for us to fret about it. It was either this or keep him around to create more and more drama until he got released. That's not a better alternative.
-
Yeah, I changed from "minimum 4th" to "who gives a fug" after Sunday's game. I have no issue with this at all. He made it very, very obvious he didn't want to be here so he needed to go.
-
It just is what it is. He was not re-signing here, he was trending towards locker room cancer and the teams that needed WR help had largely filled those needs. I am not mad about it at all. This is just what happens when you are in chaos as a team and don't have much in the way of assets to move.
-
A pick is a pick. This is the smart move. He isn't an elite player, he went after multiple teams had filled their need and he wasn't happy to be here. There wasn't much to negotiate about.
