What was your grade for the #8 overall pick, Jaycee Horn?

Well plenty of teams passed on Pat Mahomes. Just because other teams make bad moves doesn't mean those decisions are sound. It is all about the careers these guys make for themselves now. Horn could go down as a massive mistake/bust, a Perennial All-Pro or something in the middle. Same with Fields. Time will tell how good/bad bad move is. I am definitely not confident it was the right choice.

The real nightmare scenario is if Horn isn't at least as good as James Bradberry.

I just expect us to go for a need position that the fans view as a far less than the team. DT fits that mold.

I have to assume we are going to draft a DT in the 2nd. Seems like a Panthers move.

We need players, period. Trading away picks doesn't make sense. Those top 3-4 round picks can all be two deep players for us. Trading back in means you believe a guy is a star player. I don't really trust our talent evaluators enough to want that to happen. Perhaps Fitterer and Rhule look like geniuses in hindsight but I am pretty skeptical at the moment.

Trading back up into the first would make me wonder if Hurney was phoning in picks from DC.

I sincerely hope that is GM-speak and he wasn't #1 on our board. I hope he meant "at the time."

Well, I certainly hope we are headed towards rekindling that kind of excitement. This draft is potentially another step in the right direction. Let's all hope, no matter how optimistic or pessimistic we are, that this rebuild goes well. The alternative is gonna be pretty rough.

I have been around a few paper mills over the years. They all smell like poo. Nothing new about that. In that industry, if you comment on the smell the workers will usually give you the, "Smells like money" line.

If I am probably looking at making myself look good for a HC gig, I don't think I would want Sam Darnold either. I certainly hope his main focus isn't getting a new job. That wouldn't bode well for us.
