Love him or hate him....he's spot on. Steve Smith
kungfoodude replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
I mean, we don't have a single NFL LB on the roster other than Shaq. When Samuel moves on, we will no longer have a starting caliber slot WR. We need another starting DT, we need a TE, we could use an upgrade from Burris at S, we need DE depth, we need just about every position on the field in terms of backups. I am not sure there is a single position group that we are solid into the two deep. We played well last year compared to our talent level but make no mistake, this is still one of the least talented rosters in the NFL. We have to move in the right direction this offseason in terms of fixing that. -

Remember it was a tale of two halves, as well. The first half of the season the offense was seemingly playing well but our defense couldn't stop anyone. Then in the second half of the season our defense improved while our offense kept shitting the bed in crunch time(and we all know who was largely responsible for that). The defense absolutely has to be improved but I will say I think the D is a lot further along in development than the offense is, at the moment. -
For the trade people, ya'll know this dude is gonna get cut, right? Why even trade a 7th rounder that might be able to be an ultra cheap second or third string player for a guy that might be a 2nd or 3rd stringer with a first round contract. Let's not forget that pick was largely viewed as a reach.

Nah. We have more needs than that. There really isn't a position on the team we don't have some need. -
You have to BET on the games or be involved with betting for that to be a thing, dummy.

He just wouldn't suit up for him. There is not reason for him to even be involved due to injury risk. I know what I would do in his situation, but I am sure he is too competitive, too proud and likes enough of his teammates too much to do it. I would report, and just be a fuging slug the entire time until they benched me or cut me. There is no penalty for just being a POS player, reference Matt Kalil.

What Carolina and others offered for Stafford
kungfoodude replied to Calboyz13's topic in Carolina Panthers
The league goes in phases, that is certainly true. The issue with that is that the rules over the past decade or more very much favor the passing game. Not to mention that the track record of teams paying big money to NFL RB's has been really bad. Even in the modern game where there are a derth of feature backs, they still have the shortest average careers in the NFL. That turnover rate alone makes it hard to justify paying big money to a RB. In truth, it doesn't make much sense to pay a first round RB much past his rookie deal, because the odds of injuries or production start dropping basically every year past that. CMC was an iron man but he missed an entire year with injury. Kamara has missed significant time with injury, Cook has missed significant time with injury Elliott has missed time with injury and looks to be diminished, David Johnson is a shell of himself, Bell is a shell of himself, etc, etc. -

He isn't truly untradable but I highly doubt we have gotten a single call about him. There are way too many factors this offseason that make him a player most of the league wouldn't want to trade for. The cap retraction, the injuries, the overall price tag for his contract and possibly what we would want for him. In fairness, I would want a significant price for him because the dead cap hit for trading him in the first year of his deal would be astronomical. The only plausible scenario I could see is if Houston wanted him in a Watson trade. That also doesn't make any sense for them. Their current RB is getting paid $8+ mil, Watson's trade will have an NFL record dead cap hit, and they are already in cap trouble as it is. -

That was because they had a very good NFL QB. We don't. -

This will be a rough loss if we can't get one here. Played well enough to win. -

If I were Tampa I'd start McElhinney the rest of the games against us. He could be out there in golf cleats and holding couch pillows the way this is going. -

Just need to salvage a point at this rate. What an awful period. -

Reimer....you fuged us on that. -
It is unreasonable when you look at how his first year went. He was basically a PS player. Either steer clear or wait until he gets cut. Not every reclamation project is worthwhile and someone that dramatic of a bust in year one is usually someone you want to generally avoid.

He isn't supposed to be a guy that needs much of an introduction. If you don't believe him him being a heady player and throwing with anticipation, etc, etc......then what in the world is the draw? -

Well taking him in the top 10 would be a wasted pick anyway but hypothetically if you didn't believe that then I will say that with the rookie contracts being what they are, it is a lot easier to move on in recent years. -

If Jones doesn't inspire the confidence to sit Teddy, then there is absolutely no reason to even select him. Jones is a prospect that isn't likely to get much better. Classic low ceiling, low floor player. -
I'll be generous and include his one special team snap and say that $480,836 per snap for 2020 is perhaps the worst value in the NFL. Wait until he is cut and then he can be had for an ultra cheap deal. The interest on him is not going to be spectacularly high after flaming out so badly in year one.

There wouldn't be any real reason to start Teddy over him. He(Jones) is supposed to be a prospect that is "NFL ready." Put him out on the field so you can know after year one that he isn't that answer and move on. -

He wasn't very good and cost us the bulk of the victories in the second half of the season. He just isn't capable of being a full time starter in the NFL. Damn good backup guy but not a starter in the NFL. Okung was very good when he played. Little was fuging awful. I am not sure why he hasn't just been cut yet.
