Understandable. I am just glad to have a front office that seems proactive. TBD if they end up making great deals or not. I will say that I am very encouraged to see how close we apparently were to getting Matt Stafford at a very reasonable price.
-
I am happy we are in on those deals. What better way to test the market out? I'd rather call and find out they want some ridiculous price than find out on Twatter or TV that you could have improved for a much cheaper price than you ever thought.
-
But that's the thing that they don't seem to be getting. Every single shred of any evidence indicates Watson wants to leave and badly. It's a franchise that let it's previous dipshit coach/GM trade away just about every thing of value in the draft. This is the opportunity to get the franchise back on track for rebuilding. If they fug this up, they will be in the cellar of the NFL for a long, long time.

I think you want to draft at least 3-4 OL in this draft, if possible. We need to start addressing not just the starters but the backups, as well. That entire unit is basically barren. It's time to make moves to fix it long term.
-
Well a deal hasn't happened yet so it is entirely possible that the sides are far apart on the numbers. Hence the statement about the condensed timeline. We'll see what happens fairly soon.
-
I think that is the reason I would focus on that draft right now while the other teams scramble around for QB trades.
-
McNair is clearly a buffoon. The rumors of Watt wanting out to make this more complicated because now you are looking at a situation where your two leaders on offense and defense want to jump ship. If I am the Texans, I get these deals done ASAP and field every offer. Right now the market is nuclear hot and dragging your feet is just likely to get you less and less on the open market for either of these guys. I expect the Texans will drag this out until after the draft and then end up having to deal with whatever teams didn't address the QB position. That isn't a spot I would want to be in.
-
I think trading up is the most logical move for us at QB. The Watson situation remains to be settled and the suitors may be better equipped to send the Texans something that will make the trade more enticing. The craziness of the QB market makes we really concerned that none of these top 4 guys will be available at 8.

The advantage of tagging him is that you don't have to negotiate with the entire NFL to get him back if you can't get a deal hammered out before free agency opens. Remember our new GM will have a much more condensed timeline than the previous GM did to have to deal with Moton. Also the added benefit of at least returning 1-2 starters from this offensive line.
-
Yeah, we have had multiple coaching staffs not put him at LT while the LT rotation was sometimes couch free agents, so I think it is safe to assume we aren't going to see him at LT in a Panthers uniform.
-
I am not sure. We also have to consider that they might still be evaluating the roster and making those decisions. Clearly they all know that QB is the big priority, which essentially tells us all we need to know about Teddy's status.
-
I don't believe that Moton had looked kindly upon the negotiation or lack thereof, according to the earlier in the season rumor mill. Not sure how accurate that is.
-
I think the last rumor there was, which was a while ago was that the possibility of Moton returning had improvement with the front office change.
-
That helps us out a bit with the Moton situation or it that doesn't pan out, it can help us roll some cap to 2022

The SB showed us about having a solid O-line

I feel like that doesn't even need to be stated. Anyone who denies that at this point is just burying their head in the sand. -

No one can cover KC's weapons if you give Mahomes time to anticipate. He had no time last night. poo, he still nearly threw a half a dozen miracle bombs running for his life. This was the first time someone was able to get to him as quickly as that. It didn't help that they couldn't get that kind of pressure on Brady, either. Remmeber that was the same QB who threw 3 INT's the week before. -
Was he apologizing?
-
He was so awful. He still is.
-
We will see. I still expect to see some big deals in free agency.

"Multiple Teams have reached out to the Jets about Darnold"

Apparently it was 8th, our 5th and Teddy. I gotta be honest, that would have been a fuging grand slam of a HR for the trade. fug LA for scooping us. -

Have you ever seen a crazier QB market in an offseason than this one? I think it is very likely it happens for this exact reason. -

I don't think trading(hypothetically) the 8th pick was "giving it away." You were using the #8 pick to draft Matt Stafford. Technically, that is kind of crushing your pick. The mid-rounder would suck a little but we also have two extra compensatory picks we are supposed to get and this is a DEEP OL draft, especially inside. No reason we couldn't still take 3+ OL in the draft without #8 or one of our mid-rounders. The blocking issue was already a problem this past year but statistically we performed better in most blocking metrics due to the scheme. It's not ideal at all but we do have the ability to temporarily cover up some of those deficiencies with our offense. poo, Cam covered up a lot of those deficiencies for years. I don't think making the Stafford trade means we couldn't have improved on the OL. Those don't have independent things. Especially since we may not use that #8 pick on an OL anyway. If Slater or Sewell is gone, why would we reach on an OL? If a QB is there or Slater or Sewell, why wouldn't you jump on the QB outside of him just not being high on your board?
