Charlie Campbell: Panthers love Bijan Robinson
DeAngelo Beason replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'll turn in my fan card if they do this. -
I do not believe race had any factor in the decisions on who to bring in. The OC and DC positions, as well as assistant coaching positions, were all filled with very high quality candidates of varying racial backgrounds, and I don't think there were any other people who could have filled those positions much better.

nothing really to see here....

Aaron Rodgers makes this team a title contender, assuming his heart is still in the game. Wouldn't give up much to get him though. -
Todd McShay seems to really like Anthony Richardson
DeAngelo Beason replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd rather kick the tires on Hooker in the 2nd. Hell, Richardson may fall the 2nd either way. -
This coaching staff, on paper, might be the best the team has ever had.

Are any of these QBs good enough to sell the farm to that extent though?

Steve Smith: "I asked for a release."
DeAngelo Beason replied to MechaZain's topic in Carolina Panthers
My guess is he asked for release only after nippleshorts said no one's job was safe. I think he took it personally. -
Would you trade 9 for Fields - straight up?

Absolutely not. -
Quarterbacks win championships
DeAngelo Beason replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
When you have to go back 40+ years to find a reasonable sample size of teams that could win a championship with a piss poor QB you make my point for me. You don't think the niners win two or three superbowls with a legit QB vs Jimmy? You don't think the Panthers win Superbowl 38 with someone like Peyton Manning under center? You think the Chiefs win yesterday's game, or even make the playoffs, with Trent Dilfer as QB? Come on man. -

Your mention of Jalen Hurts makes my point. The only QBs in the game were both MVP candidates. This is also the worst team Mahomes has ever been on and he still came in and performed. I'm not suggesting QBs are all you need. I suggested as much in my initial post. I'm saying that the proof is in the pudding. Almost every championship of the past 20+ years was won by a top tier QB. Gone are the days of a defense holding opponents to 15 points per game while the QB slogs through the mud and they run the ball 40 times a game. There are only a few very rare exceptions. -

You need look no further than the past 20 or so super bowls. All but a few were won by a top tier QB. Yes, other pieces are needed, but you've gotta have a QB. It is just so incredibly rare for a good team to mask bad QB play, and that will almost always end up getting exposed when you go up against the better teams in the league. -
I'm not arguing sitting for more than a season. I'm arguing sitting exactly for one season.

He is not good. Release.

Anyone CAN start year one. They'll suck, but they can. The risk you take is destroying their confidence as rookies. Sometimes rookies that have a bumpy start recover and do well, like Josh Allen. Sometimes, you end up with Zach Wilson instead.

Tricky draft. Feels like we need to take BPA to me. None of the QBs in this draft are year one starters. Corral sat for a year... if he kept his head in the game and in his books then maybe he can impress in camp?

Burrow's best play of the night came on a bone-headed decision to throw into blanket double coverage. LUCKILY for him his receiver made a fantastic play on what should have been a 3rd interception. He did not play well, and the refs called a good game. I was actually pulling for Cincy in the game, so not sure what you mean by bias.

Drafting CMC in the first round is one of the worst decisions in team history.
-
We have: A weak division A roster that finished the season as a top 15 football team A TON of cap space A top 10 draft pick A lot of other draft picks A new coach Most of our key players locked up long term This is a good situation. I am nearly certain that this ship is about to turn around.
-
I'd say we see what we've got with Corral before we take him in the 3rd. I think the 3rd is a much better round for us to draft O line or secondary depth.
-
Even with both QBs healthy, they would have gotten smoked. CMC is a great player, but as we saw in his time in Carolina, CMC having epic, earth-shattering performances still equated to loss after loss after loss. The point remains the same. RBs have very limited value no matter how good they are. The 49ers as a team were very well positioned to make a playoff run, and they played a pretty darn easy schedule for the latter part of the season.
-
I personally didn't say anything about them losing the championship because of their QB play. They lost the championship because they went up against the Eagles, who have been by far the best team in the league all season. They were outclassed at every nearly every position on the field.
-
I'd feel cheated if my QB threw two interceptions and got sacked five times on the road in an incredibly hostile stadium. There were a few crap calls that took touchdowns away from the Chiefs too.

Nothing to do with a change at quarterback, the most important position in the league though, right?
