Week 7 Other NFL Games thread
Rocky Davis replied to Move the Panthers to Raleigh's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think we've already seen Purdy's ceiling and Shanahan knows it. He has looked average the last 3 games and is a game manager as @LinvilleGorgepointed out, nothing more and nothing less. Without CMC, Deebo, Kittle, Aiyuk he is a career backup at best. -
The problem we have is players sandbag their way out of Carolina the last 2-3 years. No one can tell me CMC gave 100% to being available to play for the Panthers after he got that sweet contract and hooked up with his model fiance....they both wanted out of Carolina for the West Coast. I think Burns is not happy about his contract and he is sandbagging a little too, not totally, but he isn't going 100% every down. It's really a bad situation, good players don't want to play here. We can trade for a solid WR and when his contract is up he'll jet. In all honesty, two years ago we could have re-signed Reddick and Gilmore and our defense would be miles better than what it is. Reddick made Burns better and Gilmore made our secondary better. We opted not to and see where we are now. It sucks and we are not somewhere players want to be.

It sucks to be a Panthers fan, it's worse to be a Bills fan....

The 49ers better be completely healthy if they are going to the Super Bowl. Last week against Cleveland showed everyone what they needed to know about the 49ers and Purdy, and that is without all of those nice offensive weapons they are beatable. It looks like if Philly gets it together they are the best team in the NFC. Detroit laid an absolute egg at Baltimore today and were exposed, the NFC South doesn't have a team that can make it out of the divisional round. The AFC is more interesting overall with the Chiefs, Ravens, Bills, Dolphins and I won't count out a healthy Bengals team. -
Why is Adam Thielen able to get open?
Rocky Davis replied to Ricky Prickles's topic in Carolina Panthers
NFL "clean pocket" = not having defenders arms/bodies in the way of the QB's throwing motion. Bryce needs to learn to step up in the pocket instead of moving laterally. Our offensive line also needs to learn how to provide that opportunity more often as well. -
Hopefully less stacked formations to one side of the field unless you are going to drag a TE across into open space. I can't stand seeing three WRs/TEs within 5-10 yards of each other on pass plays.

How much did the refs fug Indy today?? One of those guys had their retirement fund on Cleveland outright. -
Still like to advocate for this!

Why is Adam Thielen able to get open?
Rocky Davis replied to Ricky Prickles's topic in Carolina Panthers
His accuracy on deep throws hasn't been great, but you can't say the handful of times he's actually had a clean pocket and realistic time to throw projects to him having no accuracy at all. I wish some people would give him more than 6 games especially due to our O-line and the WRs/TEs he is working with. -

It was a tongue in cheek reply, but there have been times when I have seen TMJ and Mingo look like they don't know the routes they are supposed to run or how to adjust (sit down in a zone, or know they are the "hot" route) to the defense. Same thing applies to our TEs. Thielen is an NFL WR with the experience. Maybe Mingo can get there, I don't think TMJ cares enough to. -

Could be because he knows the routes he's supposed to run.- 39 replies

Hearing we are getting close to a deal with the Montreal Alouettes for WR Austin Mack, DB Marc-Antoine Dequoy, 4 bowls of poutine, and 2 $20 (CAD) gift cards to Tim Horton's. Source: Pierre LeBrun who usually covers hockey.

I had to turn it off after that 6th goal. I hope the guys play better in the 3rd, but this isn't a good hockey team right now. RBA is stubborn and until he and Gleason come to their senses about Orlov needing a Defensive D partner and TDA sitting out for Chatty this isn't going to get better. Good night fellas, I'll take a couple shots of whiskey for y'all.
-
as much as Koochie deserves some criticism, our defense has more holes than the Moonlight Bunny Ranch. Gotta plug 'em all!
-
my lorty, RBA and this team need to figure it out. They looked pathetic on the Avs last goal.
-
and Johansen's goal shouldn't have counted, but of course the NHL and playing in Colorado. Sneaky mf'er kicked that puck in!
-
Koochie hasn't proven to be ready for prime time. He has to play sometime though to see if he can get the consistency he needs, might as well get it done early in the season.
-
Can we just go ahead and have a Nicole Tepper's arse thread??
-
I would go with Koochie in net, but I think he needs a lot of playing time so we can hopefully rely on him as the season goes on. I think Raanta is done after this year (as in retirement). Koochie has flashed, but we need to see if he can solidify himself as a starting NHL goalie sooner than later.
-
There are no goalies to even consider trading for right now so we are where we are, you could even say "we like our group." Maybe come the trade deadline if all 3 of our goalies are playing average and below we may see something, but goalies are a high priority for many teams - we have put a lot of faith in Koochie becoming that guy for us. Let's hope it works out....
-
A case of being away from home and out of your normal routine along with the injuries and our defense trying to figure out who they are and where they should be has led to this being a rough trip. On the bright side we are still over .500.

A little too soon to write Orlov off. He certainly needs a more responsible defensive defenseman pairing with him. Chatfield fits that bill. I remember we were pretty hard on Burns early last season and he came around, I expect Orlov to do the same.
