If Bryce busts, was that the worst trade in the history of the NFL?
Captroop replied to Captroop's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd argue Ricky Williams was worse. New Orleans got multiple 1,000 yard seasons out of him, and ended up getting a 1st rounder back in a trade. -

I'll admit I didn't know about this one. Yeah, that's a disaster. -

We're on a message board for an 0-4 team, and you're about the publish a multi-page review of Bryce's game tape. I know you have time. I'm genuinely asking. What's a worse trade than a #1 overall that busts, considering how much we gave up? -
I know it's only 3 games, so we can't know at this point, hence the "if." This is purely a thought experiment. I'm genuinely trying to think of a worse one, and I can't do it. Two firsts (and at this point looking increasingly like 2 top-3 picks), a second, and DJ Moore. That amount of capital doesn't seem like the kind of thing you take a flyer on. That's the certainty of taking a perennial All Pro, with a 10+ year career. If Bryce just doesn't pan out, have the Carolina Panthers earned the ignominy of making the worst trade in the history of the NFL? Please find a counter-argument. Please.

You really think Bryce could hurl the ball 60 yards through the air?
-
Please just move the team. My roots in the Carolinas is the only thing still keeping me lashed to the wheel of this sinking franchise. I have no reason to support the Salt Lake City Panthers, and I can support someone else.

Even the best QBs in the league get hit occasionally. If everything else was going great, he'd still be an enormous liability to the offense because he apparently can't be touched without coughing up a fumble.

Sigh. As much as it pains me, I don't think anyone will or should be fired. Dan Campbell in his first year lost 14 straight. And here in year 3 he's got his squad looking ready to run the North. We probably do need to give this regime more than 6 games to get the ball rolling or we run the risk of just being the perennial losers of the league with constant turnover and turmoil. ...That doesn't mean I have to watch this flaming shitwreck of a season.

This grim reality is really making me question my fandom. I quite simply have lost interest in the team, which I never thought could happen. And knowing there is nothing to look forward to on the horizon, it's not just a matter of "I'm not watching next week," fandom. But rather, "I'll check in on how the team is doing a couple of times a year" fandom.

I'm literally depressed by this team. We're bad. We're looking up through 20 feet of poo at mediocre. And we're YEARS away from getting there.
-
Bryce is literally a liability on offense

I mean, there's a lot you can ding Jackson for. But getting burnt by Terry McLaurin is hardly damning evidence. He specializes in making CBs look silly. If he had someone other than Haskins, Heineke and Howell throwing him the ball, he'd be a perennial pro-bowler.

I don't care about a W. Honestly. I want to see signs of life. I can live through a losing season. I can live through a catastrophic season. But I want to see light over the horizon. Bad and trending downward I simply cannot abide.

I like it! The only knock I had on watching the XFL was the limited competition pool. Immediately doubling the size of the league already makes it more interesting. Smaller stadiums, good atmosphere, I think there's definitely an appetite for it. Glorified farm system or not, I just like watching football in the offseason.

This is what I hope to see, not necessarily what I rationally expect: 22/34 260 yards; 2 TD; 0 INT

Fifth of an acre here in the burbs, and frankly I don't know what lawns are for except constantly wondering what I'm doing wrong. We did a vegetable patch the first summer after we moved in. Now we're just thinking about ways we can have less grass. Frankly I think Southern Pines has it right. Pine Straw yards 4 life!

PFF grades after week 3 (not for the faint of heart)
Captroop replied to Cdparr7's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'll chalk that up to a sophomore slump for Ickey. But to your point, the whole line has regressed, so I think that's putting more pressure on Ekwonu. -
Why the fug is the back judge calling the 1st down?
-
Pinero is automatic. Lock him up. We need one less position to worry about
-
Well one thing for sure. This team seems more inspired

Dalton's on the phone with his agent...

Touchdown Bryce Young! He looks great! Did he get taller?
-
Yup. If he's doing that well, let Bryce spend a season taking mental reps. Rodgers rode the bench for 3 years. Worked out pretty well for him, and the team.

230.

Fighting at BOA…. A fan just died at Foxboro
Captroop replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Football is my No.1 sport, hands down, bar none. You couldn't pay me to go sit in the stands at another football game. Drunk, annoying, belligerent fans, overpriced drinks and a shitty view of the field. I've literally never been to an NFL football game where I didn't see a drunken fist fight. And most of those were in the pre-season. I'll go to a baseball game, but unless I get an invite to a suite, I feel like I'm missing out on nothing by watching a football game at home on in a bar.
