  1. 4th/5th all time in sacks depending on whether you look at post-1982 when it became an official stat. First ballot all day.
  2. Burns sits, Falcons roll 30-17 with Bijan Robinson earning Rookie of the Week honors with a 150 burger and 2 TDs. Desmond Ridder is efficient with no turnovers and a TD, mostly because he's not asked to do much. Bryce Young passes for 2 TDs and completes 60-something percent of his passes, but it's not enough because we can't stop anything. cpantherking lets everybody hear all about it.
  3. The GFS has it shooting the gap between Bermuda and the mainland US, which is the best scenario imo. A couple of the models have it getting scarily close to the east coast before it whips out to sea. I hope it doesn't threaten land until sufficiently weak, because that storm could be a real monster. A landfalling category 4 in the Carolinas would be catastrophic.
  4. Call me crazy but I'll take this over a basketball score in the first half
  5. That's a monster stand by FSU after one of the softest ass penalties of the weekend
  6. I saw some Nebraska fans talking about this on Reddit and apparently the Huskers have just been absolutely brutal in one score games going back several years. Well I've got bad news: one of the the only things Matt Rhule is better at than being a dick is losing close games.
  7. It's perhaps not the way to build a franchise in the cutthroat performance-driven NFL, but man having Fox back in Carolina would have hit me in the feels. He drove a lot of us nuts at times and his tenure ended on an incredibly sour note, but we had some great times when he was pacing the sidelines in Charlotte.
  8. Yeah I live in CH/Carrboro and can confirm that like half the people here don't know UNC has a football team. Who gives a fug, our Mountaineers are coming to Kenan in a few weeks and it'll get settled on the field.
  9. For me, like a lot of people from Charlotte, it's gotta be the big one: Hurricane Hugo in '89. One of my earliest memories is that storm and its aftermath. One of the other ones I remember is Tropical Storm Beryl in 1994. We were in Hickory then and I distinctly remember watching a funnel cloud spin over my parents' house.
  10. Yep it's about that time of the year. The eastern and central Pacific has already had several major hurricanes and it looks like Hurricane Hilary is actually going to have serious effects on southern California, Arizona, and Nevada which is highly unusual if not unprecedented. Thankfully NOAA doesn't expect much out of Six or the system developing over the central Atlantic, but we're just getting started. I bet this will be one of those years where we're getting named storms well into the fall.
  11. Southpoint in Durham is fairly active and seems to still be a hangout spot But yeah as a child of the 90s they are no longer the poo-hot thing they were
  12. I noticed that last night too, and it was disconcerting. The interior OL was getting whipped, and pressure up the gut is about the worst thing for a guy Bryce's size to have to deal with. Back when Brees was with the Saints it seemed like that FO would go out of its way to invest in guards, and for good reason. They gave guys like Jahri Evans huge contract extensions and seemed to routinely bring in FAs like Ben Grubbs.
  13. I just don't get why the line looks so shitty. It isn't like we're starting a bunch of scrubs (minus His Errorness MJ last week but that was because of injuries) or UDFAs or something. No idiotic failed experiments going on like changing Nate Chandler's position and thinking he's a starting RT. On paper this should be at least a middle of the pack OL.
  14. At this point I'd be willing to settle for Bryce surviving the season. I don't think I can take watching this franchise ruin another ascendant star quarterback.
  15. I knew there was some fuging crazy stat about Rodgers in the 4th quarter, but I couldn't remember exactly what it was so I looked it up. He's 3-45 when trailing by double digits in the 4th. Unless his WRs were like me and Alejandro Lastra that's anomalously terrible for a HOF QB.
  16. Brady was compiling stats in playoff games in January 2002. It wasn't exactly the leather helmet days but Rodgers' prime was in the era following Irsay bitching to the competition committee after Manning and his WRs got shoved around by the Patriots in the playoffs a few years in a row.
  17. I still consider sending the NFC champions on the road to open against the team they just lost to in a controversial, poorly officiated Super Bowl as a power play by the NFL to send a "fug you, this is our league and you need to know your place" message to the Panthers.
  18. Hard Knocks is basically a hype reel for the team being filmed. That said you can just watch the game and see that they fuged us up from the opening kickoff, you don't need HBO to tell you.
  19. I'm late replying to this but I tried that in a small town in the gameday thread and caught a suspension. I saw him around campus routinely, he was kind of a small dude for a football player and didn't really stick out much. Really low key and wasn't big on drawing attention to himself.
  20. I don't know how the fug I heard "Brinkley" instead of Franklin
