well, 3rd option in regards to addressing the QB situation not via draft. And like I said, the fact we went looking at Stafford/Watson and how we did Teddy in the process.....kinda built the need for a 3rd option whether we initially had anyone in mind there or not. I think failing to get Stafford/Watson created a weird environment. Then they just had to get a body to replace Teddy with.

I'd rather draft a talented QB that might struggle to get on the field because of talent in front of him.......than do it with a RB, LB, DT, etc. Which we have gone into the draft and done....in the first round.
-
yep, Sam was option # 3 of the offseason. And we had to do something given how we did Teddy while looking at option #1 and #2.

I think Mac Jones is the only QB in this draft who fits Kyle's preferred type. Now, did he spend all that draft capitol to go get Mac Jones? No point doing a smokescreen IMO. He can just name the player. No one to fool. I think there has been a concerted effort to knock Fields from 1b to as far down as possible while simultaneously pumping up every other QB over him. And nothing on the football field backs that IMO.

I didn't LOVE Burns (largely because of Everette). But I didn't hate the pick. Probably would have to go back to the Dom Capers era to find a first rounder I disliked as much as Horn at #8.
-
Because all it takes is 1 team out of 32. I mean the majority of teams could have him as 2nd rounder. But if someone at the top wants him... Kyle has a type. Mac is it. Which is baffling to move up and spend the capitol to get to #3 to take Mac. They didn't need to go up that high and plenty of teams IMO would have traded down.
-
trying to think if there is a first round pick we have made that I disliked more at the time than I will Horn at #8.....and I'm coming up with nothing....

Star made our defense. Star > KK. KK had the fancy sack numbers though.
-
Clausen didn't spend the last 2 seasons of his college career being the consensus 1b with someone hyped as a generational talent (Trevor). Players can fall. No doubt. But what Simms is doing with Fields IMO is just 100% clickbait. Guarantees Simms gets the attention before the draft and after it.

Justin Fields going # 32 lol. This is just performance art and trolling.
-
I think he is a grabby man DB.

per PFF in that Bama game. Horn allowed five catches for 113 yards and a touchdown into his coverage, good for a passer rating of 145.8. They bluntly said he was bad in that game. And that his 2019 wasn't really that good. Horn's rise really came in 2020. But like I said, I wonder how much of that is just opponents taking advantage of all the easier options on the field in 2020. Gamecocks were horrible. They gave up 40 points per game. So how much of that is being scared of Horn vs just preferring to attack a very weak team elsewhere.
-
I'm still hoping for Justin Fields. If that doesn't happen? I don't really care. I don't want them to leave Pitts, Chase, or Fields on the board if QBs go early. But if they are all gone? I probably won't care until we see them in pads.
-
the back of my mind concern about Horn is.... did Horn's personal stats benefit from the rest of this team being bad? Tua threw for about 500 yards that day. There were easier places to go than throwing at Horn. So teams often did that. How much of that is being scared of Horn vs just taking the open and easy layups that were all over the field (especially last year). Corners always scare me in a draft. Hard to tell in college how good they really are often vs other positions.

if Hurney was here we would be getting ready to welcome Etienne. Then he would trade back into the first and pick up Harris. Triple trouble.

1. WandaVision decent gap 2. Falcon and The Winter Solider ready for Loki.

POV: You are Joe Brady. What do you want in the draft?
CRA replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Probably Pitts. He is a matchup nightmare. Teddy was up right plenty enough to of had a great season if he could of taken advantage of what was there. -
all Rhule wants to do is chill out to some Crash into Me and not be hated on. Is that too much to ask!
-
fug it, I went to several Dave concerts. They were good times. Rhule falls into that same window of time where it was a thing to go to them. I've seen much better bands in person....and didn't have as much fun.

You also do have to factor in that he isn't a scout right now. He is writing for clicks. I mean you can debate the degree of that but it most definitely is written for people on the internet to hopefully read. And the clicks don't come easy at nfldraftdiamonds. So the more controversial, the better. The Skip Bayless approach works.

well, I have made it clear I am not a fan of Urban or the programs he ran. I think the Jags botched that. Urban won in college. Yes. He also created bad environments.....and then bailed when it started coming to a boil. He was repetitive in that IMO.
-
yeah, Lawrence might not reach his projected ceiling....but the dude's floor is super high. Hard to see him actually busting. I think him coming close to his ceiling will have less to do with the Trevor and more to do the Jags org.
-
I think you can tell more about arm strength from a 20 yard out route than a 50 yard deep ball.
-
depending on your scheme and how quickly you want a rookie to play....I could accept a team taking Mac over Lance. Some QBs just aren't fits and are fits in certain offenses.
-
Well, I admittedly have a strong ND and U of SC bias. But our U of SC picks have historically overachieved IMO. But that probably is more about where they were drafted. I personally think Parsons is better. But like I said above.
