He got away from slower line men. Had a line blocking giant holes for him to launchpad his deep throws to WR that already burnt CBs and still had to slow down to adjust to catch it. It keeps going. The combine should have dropped him. He hit weight but couldn't do the basic physical stuff. Not throwing at the combine is not unusual really but the other stuff needed to be seen and has been an issue. His personality combined with his limitations is a kiss of death to me. If he wad a physical freak would his mildness matter as much? Not really IMO. But without it he looks like a little tackling dummy in the NFL. Such a bad combo.

Assuming it's done do you select a qb this year or wait?
Waldo replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bring in a younger vet and take a QB if there is one to be had. Can't let failure scare you into more failure. They can find D help in the rest of the draft and free agency. Be the team getting guys cheaply as they crash out of other's program and not the team watching them leave would be great. -
Bryce got benched, but the problem is still the problem
Waldo replied to CRA's topic in Carolina Panthers
This crew has the rest of the year to prove they should be making that pick. They jumped the first hurdle yesterday. The guys they brought in have to produce now or it is just more of the same and addition by subtraction. -
His film showed what he was going to do in the NFL, it was there for all to see. Last year we had a bad talent evaluator at GM and too many hands on the wheel. It was a mess and it got out of hand. Not 1 person, included the ones still around, said enough about all the red flags. Those are the kind of people you can't keep around. They need to work together but that is the work of yes men.

I don't watch college ball at all. I watched 5 minuets of Bryce breakdowns when the trade went doen and knew he was going to bust at this level. It was all there to see and all the people raving about him baffled me completely. I think people get caught in that levels hype and can't get past the stuff that really doesn't matter in the NFL. I just see it as practice and would be fine looking at a guy who won half the games but was coachable into an NFL player. That level really does not produce the same quality product it used to and with NIL it looks to have taken another quality hit so teams have to look at being able to do what the schools didn't do in the player development. I don't think Stroud fixes all the issues last year, and there were some toxic ones, but he could make enough plays that we could have beat the Bucs 9 points in the last game that I actually sat through in Tampa.

Stroud here is better than the Bucs last year. The team might have imploded from the 'everyone has input' approach and games of knives they had going on but to think it would have looked the same with Stroud is a freaking hilarious struggle to come to grips with the Young effect. You don't need to know the numbers when you have the winning ticket in hand.

I have so many ideas but whatever is really going on in that house is everyone's guess. DC has not blown away his rookie year so far. The preseason was for practice and DC from the outside looking in played it scared. He rolled out the starters when he was under fire and they went up against backups. The only thing I can 100% confirm is he did not in fact discover a preseason hack.
-
Anyone that DC thinks he can coach up. It's prove it time. Throw a 6th or 7th at it and see what he can do with anyone else. Plumber seems like a tall ask and the entire 'why is he #3 anyways' conversation isn't the time yet but it's one injury away.

Every QB this board hates or loves is above 6'2" so it can't be all that bad

Wait until the school games end. There are a couple of options. Getting worked up by school games is how we got Young.
-
Sounds like a serious upgrade from our current #2
-
He had 2 5 win seasons. The #1 pick couldn't win more than 2 games last year and throw more than 12 yards yesterday. It's possible but I think it's obvious the rest of the team wasn't happy with the BS of it all.

Marcus Spears comments on Bryce Young. Midway in video
Waldo replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
LOL. He is broken because he knows he isn't good enough and that's not going to change. He is fine with cashing those checks and that's what this is now. He isn't and shouldn't be starting in the NFL. Watching a old man do his job better isn't going to make him feel better about it and we all know his competitive spirit is Casper the ghost -
I think they give it another go. It's a long season and DC said he was #2 while not bringing anyone in...yet. I expect him to get another look and then be bad enough they finally just bump him to #3/inactive after that.
-
All the offseason stuff lasted 1 play. Then it was back to Alabama ball. In the end there was nothing to develop at this level. Unfortunately they are keeping him #2 so here is another chance to make a miracle happen I guess

I think we get to see how bad the Bryce effect really was. I don't care about wins this year. It's all about coaching guys up and getting the fat ready to cut while earning a top 5 pick. The team with a bust at QB wasn't watchable and other guys were put into constantly terrible positions, that had nothing to do with wins. Also no way Dalton last 15 games. I do not believe his arm has it in it anymore. But until he gives out we get so see what everyone else looks like. I'm excited for them to have a chance to prove anything now.

Does anyone else think our receivers ball out now?
Waldo replied to Gapanthersfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
250 yards is now attainable. A pass TD or 2 a game. First Andy needs to stay healthy or it's back to the bust. It should be much better if Young stays on the bench. -
That thing is so spammy and all that crap is on the team site. Keep it banned
-
Go back and look what it did to Reich. He looked like all his hair dye came out from his pre-draft stuff.
-
Better play under center, better passes deep (over 20 yards lol) and that should open up the run game. The blocking is there in both phases, well as far as I could tell in the mess that was the first 2 weeks. DC just needs to run the ball and not have Andy throwing more than 25 times in a game.
-
Me too but only in this matter. He has an incredibly unprepared team 2 weeks in a row, thankfully the D stepped up. The way he ran the preseason was also not good. This is a giant step though and I am a lot more interested in seeing what he has going forward.

I wasn't turning away from the train wreck but now I have my first reason to paise the new HC with watchable football on the way to boot. Bust Young is done!
-
Now we can evaluate the rest of the team! Ohh and go ahead an put Plumber on the roster now. No need to trot out Young again yet if Dalton goes down. No chance he plays the rest of the games so just do that now. It's going to be weird watching watchable Panther football with Dalton out there and I am ready for it even if it's not enough for wins.
