With Panthers cleaning house how safe is Bryce
Waldo replied to Frank9999's topic in Carolina Panthers
After his play this year they have to bring in competition. It doesn't have to be a pick or a trade or an expensive FA, all sound like terrible choices to me at this point. Just someone that can play at NFL backup level. If Young can't beat that out then he shouldn't be starting. What was spent on him is gone along with 2 key people that brought him in so that doesn't matter. Either they can get better play out of him in 24 or he is toast. They already forced him to play most of a season with little improvement so playing time isn't the issue. Fix the team for sure either way. The lines, WRs and TEs need to happen regardless. As for Bryce if he can't do better in training camp he shouldn't be starting going forward. Sign a backup QB and let them compete. -
That one hurts either way. Four 1000+ yard seasons out of six in this dumpster fire but he isn't a #1 WR... A WR doesn't have to be insta HOF material to be good. Trading up for a QB and getting rid of the only good WR was so incredibly dumb. I hated that trade when it happed and still find it mindboggling. That's not even brining up watching Burns walk lol

Still lol. Some are still talking that BS

Looks like he wants to go further away from talent evaluators and towrds cap guys? LoL. If he had hired a guy thay could evaluate talent he wouldn't be making another hire. Tepper alreay has Suleiman why would he need another cap guy?
-
Those are bust numbers. Maybe he can drag his play into backup territory but he is busting right now and there is no sugarcoating it.

This is what happens when you have fools in charge. Take the original trade or sign him, nope they waited and then bickered about the price because he really isn't worth the value of the Rams offer. How the fug they let it come into this year without a deal is on the team, players always ask for what they can get and regardless if it was us or someone else this deal should have been done last offseason. Yes he wanted too much but they could have done a trade and just owned up to not being as good as the one they turned down from the Rams. I hope the new GM can find a trade partner he will go with or just let him go. Yes it stinks but that deal was screwed up already and I just want to be done with any players with any promises from the last idiot in charge of the roster. He isn't nearly as good as the people in Carolina have been telling him for years. When you lie like that the bill comes due. Well here it is. Could have been a valuable part of it all but no he has to be called great. “He’s a phenomenal leader and has been totally into it,” Panthers coach Frank Reich said. “In the meeting room, on the practice field he’s totally locked in. And he’s making good progress physically. We are not only expecting him to be a great player on the field but also be a great leader.”“What I am learning about him, like most great players, is he’s a very smart football player,” Reich said. “So that allows us to do different things with him. Sure, we mainly want (him) to rush the passer. But it does allow us to do other things. ... We will see how that all plays out.” Just call him a valuable part of the team and stop blowing smoke he hasn't earned. It's been the same BS since he was drafted. 1 year of double digit sacks is not greatness. It's good job now keep trying for better. Peppers had 12 in 12 games his rookie year, that is what special looks like.

Rumor: Tepper threw drink in response to JAG fan mocking Haynes injury

It screams excuse. A friend leaked this and it is mighty convenient. The entire thing is a hilarious attempt at misdirection. Tepper the player's hero lol -

Losong decent people is the price of being so poorly run. With the stuff they had going on in that house a 100% cleaning would be best. He looks like a good DC and I am not sure he had any part of that activity but DCs are not the most difficult positions to fill in the modern NFL.

Clean house with zero carry over in staff. Bring on the prove it deals because it's volume time to turn this roster around. Young should be in competition moving forward. They spent and wasted an entire year trying to prop that up with no meaningful movement out of all of that playing time but if he can't beat a Dalton out next year then it was never going to work anyways. Burns tag and trade or let walk for the optics to potential free agents. If he wants to fight then just blame Fritters and move on without the black eye of an ugly tag fight to start a new GMs time here. Purge any players that are tradable that are not part of the future. Stop with the square pegs in round hole approach and don't rely on injury prone players to be available. Guys like Sanders can be traded while we eat cap as a win-win scenario. Focus on the lines first because they are a mess and would help everything else. figure out the scheme and then personnel.

Those 2 are and were better coaches. I agree with about what Ron still has I just don't think he wants to change. He always came off my way or not at all. I could see him going 100% family and never looking back. Time will tell.
-
His obsolescence on the field might kill his value off the field. I would have agreed before his time in DC but now retirement looks like his best fit. I just don't know what a cheerleader position looks like for him when the football side is that bad because if a team is playing that kind of team it really shouldn't be hard to understand and know that outdated playbook. IDK, Ron would have to change his MO and that is not really his bag.

is there a worse destination than Carolina for a GM or HC?

Got rid of a huge issue hanging over the process. Now it's time to see how Tepper can fug this up again. Please stop hiring people you like because they are all trash. -
We should but also he has been on the bust path since preseason. Tepper is in uncharted territory now. He has always kept a holdover and carried over issues from the last crew. He is embarrassed and unpredictable so I really don't know what comes next. It's not like he will suddenly have figured out how the NFL works over this season so the full field of possibilities exist right now and that includes Bryce taking the fall as a bust. It's not like any backup or jag starter couldn't do better. Baker is in the playoffs lol Edit: locked in at a top 10 pick anyways. Too little talent. It would take several miracles to make that not happen.
-
He only got an extra year because the new owners needed time to adjust. Mixed feelings on Ron. Highs and lows. The more I think about it he is a dinosaur and I'm not even sure he has consulting value. He is still living in the 80s and evey year he has made himself more irrelevant in the NFL.
-
Unless Tepper Bridgewaters him in another ego trip... Mixed feelings on that. I really don't want to have to watch Young play again but that is still a crap move unless the compensation is decent. For an early 2nd and maybe an additional 5th? Lol sure. I don't see anyone paying that but sure.
-
Yup! The only one in house anymore tied to Young is Tepper and anyone brought in doesn't have to give it more than the old college try, like Payton in Denver with Wilson. I never had a problem giving new staff a year if they spent it building the foundation up. Rhule didn't know what that was and wasted it trying 3 times in a row. Reich never had the chance because they immediately traded the future away and went all in on a QB that wasn't a franchise QB on a team that in fact wasn't a QB away in it's build. Bryce will get his shot but there should be legitimate compitition next season and that really doesn't bode well for him.
-
It's Tepper so I will reserve any hope until he gives me legitimate reasons for hope. Trying to make moves was never one of Tepper's faults, making good moves and having good management are. We will see. Anyway it drops not having Fitterer as GM at least opens the door to improvement.
-
And just like that no one in house has to prop up the Bryce trade and pick anymore...
-
Why the fug did they keep him this long? They could already have hired a new GM and be ready for the HC search. Even when Tepper does something right he still finds the wrong way to do it. Whatever, take what you can get I guess.
-
Sounds like a good way to give us all reasons to hate a former player that is well liked. Just hire someone else and clean house. There are no good answers inhouse and there is nothing good worth carrying over into a new regime. Say good luck and hopefully he goes on to a competent organization to continue his career inprovement, not the career implosion awaiting him as a GM here.

It's a great place to be overpaid. That's really it. If you are tired of working this is the team handing out hefty retirement packages if your health can survive the toxic work environment. -
I'm sorry but I thought that was his first name?
