Bryce has a noodle arm and will suck because he can't chuck 50 yard bombs. But also he has done that before in college. But also he hasn't done it in the pros so he can't do it. Also he sucks and we wasted the first pick on him. But also the Reich fiasco was a disaster and we allegedly switched offenses 3 times before opening day putting him in a position to fail. But also he's the first overall pick so he should have been able to hard carry the team regardless of the clusterfug of the coaching staff. But also the huddle doesn't WANT him to fail, they just know he will. And those same people that want him to succeed also want to tank this year to guarantee we get a new QB in the next draft. But most importantly - Dave Canales is like, really hot.

Moton is good to great and worthy of being paid top 10 at his position, and he is being paid as the #8 highest paid RT on a yearly salary: He was #4 highest paid at time of signing, but that was also coming off his great 2020 season, he has been more than worth his contract thus far, we just suck so we've wasted having a good tackle in his prime under contract. I would argue that Moton is the 2nd best tackle (left or right) we have ever had in our franchise's history behind only Gross, and 3rd/4th best OL overall behind Gross and Kalil, and on par with Wharton who was also underrated. Moton isn't elite but he's better than just good and replacing him would create an unnecessary bigger hole than just paying him.

Moton hasn't missed a game since he became the starter in 2018 and hasn't missed an offensive SNAP in 6 years. I have seen you bring that up in multiple threads now and I disagree that injuries are a factor at all. Also, he has performed as our best O-Lineman pretty much each and every year, he has nothing to prove. He's been a pro bowl caliber Tackle his entire career, he has just played on some really shitty teams so he doesn't get national recognition. I have no idea why he isn't being restructured but injuries probably aren't it, and he is good and consistent enough to warrant an extension. For all we know Moton is planning on retiring at the end of his contract or something.

BREAKING: Panthers cut Chaisson
Ricky Spanish replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
For real. Over K'lavon Chaisson. If our depth is as bad as you all say it is at Pass rusher, just think about how bad he must have actually been. -
Last Decade of First Round Draft Picks
Ricky Spanish replied to kungfoodude's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hurney Pre 2009 was a good GM. 2009 and beyond, it was pretty bad. He still hit his first rounders (as was tradition) and made the Greg Trade, but his contracts, mid round selections, and FA signings were very very not good. -
so are we done with the "answer is on the roster" era?
Ricky Spanish replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
Fitterrer and Rhule were obsessed with RAS. Their philosophy was draft athletes and then teach them to play. Problem is they either couldn't teach or drafted guys who couldn't learn. Either way, you need to select good old fashioned football players at some point. -
Panthers add four more to the practice squad
Ricky Spanish replied to Carolina Panthers's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope he is in Adam Thielen's hip pocket all year long. They have similar play styles and have a similar story being UDFAs and practice squad year 1 guys. He can learn a ton from him.- 40 replies

He was a late 1st round selection. I can't say he was overdrafted relative to the talent surrounding him in that draft. He was taken roughly where he deserved to be taken, maybe a little later and in the early to mid 2nd, but that's splitting hairs at that point. We all hoped he would be the second coming of TD, but TD is a rare breed that took a good long while to actually become the TD we know and love thanks to a position switch and injuries. TD had become TD at Shaq's current age, but Shaq is no slouch and he's been a rock and leader for the defense through the worst stretch in our franchise's history. You just have to respect a guy so loyal to the sinking ship.

Looking back, I don't think there are 64 players better than Shaq in that draft. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_NFL_draft Some made pro bowls like once but have been JAGs the rest of their careers and bounced around the league or are out of it now. I'd take Shaq over the likes of Vic Beasley, Laken Tomlinson, Jameis Winston or DJ Humphries - All pro bowlers at one point but not better than Shaq has been over the course of his career imo.

It wasn't a second, it was a 3rd and Dan Arnold. Fitterer wasn't gonna do anything with that pick so he got his money's worth with that worthless trade.

One I found from last year:

Some info from this year's "Beast" from Dane Brugler:

Shaq is a pro-bowl caliber player (even if he hasn't made one yet, like Moton) and absolutely worth where he was drafted. Anyone who stays with the team that drafted them for a decade across multiple coaching changes is not a bad player. He's not as good as Luke or TD, but they were All-Pro caliber LBers and he had to step up and fill their shoes. He's done admirably and I have grown to appreciate him for who he is as a player, and not who he isn't (Luke or TD).

Our DL is a who's who of "who?" after A'Shawn Robinson Pretty sure we go after DL and Pass Rusher with Waivers.

Panthers will keep Jonathon Brooks on NFI list
Ricky Spanish replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
We traded back in teh 2nd and got a 2nd next year out of the deal, along with other draft capital, we saw a guy we rated #1 at his position sitting there who was going to be drafted by dallas so we used the later round draft capital to move ahead of dallas and get him. After all was said and done we didn't really lose anything from trading up to get him -
Legette vs Buffalo (all routes all-22)
Ricky Spanish replied to *FreeFua*'s topic in Carolina Panthers
Dude takes long strides so he doesn't get out of his breaks all that quick but he covers a lot of ground in a few steps. He's faster than he is quick. I hope he works out, kid works his ass off, so hopefully he can turn out good for us. -
Because Reich's scheme was a net negative of 2. So if Bryce is worth only 1 and CJ is worth 2, Bryce is 1+-2=-1 CJ is 2+-2 =0. 0 is better than -1 but it's still 0. Also the line sucked and the receivers weren't open. His weapons and protection were all way better. Fitterer and co sold us fools gold last offseason.

Screw the QB school, Duncs film breakdown

Looking at the RPO and PA stats of our offense compared to the rest of the league with Reich at the helm, the offense was not designed for someone with Bryce's Skillset. It was built for someone with strengths, like CJ. But at the same time, you're the fuging coach, adjust your poo to your players and stop being so fuging stubborn dipshit. Don't throw a fit and poo your pants out of spite if you didn't get the guy you wanted and put him and literally everyone else on the team and coaching staff in a position to fail.
-
He is but it wasn't designed to go that way and he's out of Bryces vision. Unless you want this QB with average at best arm strength throwing across his body, it was the right read.

I think it was just a way to get Idzik's feet wet as a play caller in the event Canales wants to step away from calling plays and focus on more overall team stuff or Idzik gets a future opportunity elsewhere.
