I'ma be honest, I have had little faith in what we would do this offseason. In the past 24 hours I have been completely blown away. These are competent moves

A hopeful non-Watson scenario that doesn't mortgage the future
Ricky Spanish replied to davos's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm all for trading down to recoup a second, drafting the best available OL with the first and then taking one of the remaining QBs available between Ridder, Corral, Howell or Strong. If they suck, oh well, we Jimmy Clausen them and take our next franchise guy next draft. If they're good, we got a good OL and a good QB in rounds one and two. Shits cash. -
Adams and Carr are super tight, I'm not surprised at all.

Bradberry has been great up in NY, one of their few bright spots on Defense. I know the fans aren't happy that he is probably a casualty of their cap situation. If the price is right I'd bring him back.

Baker Mayfield Requests Trade from Browns + UPDATE
Ricky Spanish replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
Holy crap that tweet of the video of Mayfield dropping an F bomb is hilarious. -
I think Matt Ryan is severely underrated by people on this board. He would be an upgrade over Wentz for them next season. They have a roster put together, they just need a QB who won't screw things up. It'd be the Philip Rivers experiment 2.0 for them.

I didn't and still don't really want Watson, but regardless of what happens with this whole fiasco, these threads have been pretty damn fun. It's been nice seeing optimism in this place for the first time in about 6 months.

I'd do it for our 4th

Ryan to Indy makes a lot of sense. This year's second or less, they have a TON of cap space.

Personally, not high on him. He misses reads in favor of scrambling at unnecessary times, Accuracy is subpar, and he is not as fast or shifty as Lamar Jackson so I don't think he'll get away with what he does at the next level. In my opinion he looks like Johnny Manziel. Apparently complete polar opposite of a human though. So if you liked Manziel's potential you'll love Willis'. He has a better possibility of success based on his attitude alone.

Really glad you shared this, I haven't seen this place this engaged in a while.

Panthers re-sign Brandon Zylstra
Ricky Spanish replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Dude is a legit special teamer and steps up when his name is called. No issues with this one. -
What an incredibly descriptive retelling of the situation at hand in the OP

Al Holcomb promoted to assistant head coach
Ricky Spanish replied to Smithers's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wasn't Jeff Nixon Assistant head coach last year or am I misremembering that? -
Dude I'm at the point that I WANT to see this team fail next year because of how bad the coach and owner have made things. Maybe after another year of bottom feeding we can finally get someone competent as a HC.

You're right, it isn't hard to read, but if you actually read it, you'd know that they address the Stafford Goff thing at the end of the article: This of course was written before the super bowl and the Rams went on to be the first team in 20+ years to win it with 25% of their cap allocated to the QB position. They also have probably the second best defensive player of all time on their defense, OPOTY in Cooper Kupp, and a top 5 head coach/football mind in the NFL. We have Matt Rhule. The Rams, we ain't.

Panthers close to deal with G Austin Corbett
Ricky Spanish replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Corbett is a great run blocker and rarely gets called for penalties but his biggest weakness is his pass protection. He ranked 38 out of 68 in terms of pass blocking grades last year making him slightly below average at pass blocking... Which means he is exponentially better than what we previously had.- 133 replies
